To everyone who says it has too much roll-

in a real, moving car, the g-forces you feel are generated by the motion of the car changing directions. This simulator does not move around (hopefuly - that would be kinda scary), so it uses the force of gravity to simulate lateral g-forces. Because of that, it has to lean over that much.

This is not a drice simulator driving cab, it's a flight simulator cab.

Dear sportscarclubracing, you need to go back to race school, i am an engineer and a race car driver, i drive a legends car. he is hitting the 45 degree angle to simulate the G-forces that you get in the car, using gravity. that is why he tilts so far back on acceleration, obviously you must not drive fast enough to experience that :P

I think you don't know what's going on here at all. The seat leans because that's the only way to "simulate" forces when you're NOT MOVING. 45 degrees would be like 1 lateral G, which is completely normal racing.

this would be a sim if the car had a ride height of about 9 in., you weren't running front or rear sway bars, and if you had about 200lb springs all the way around. Which would make sense for a DIRT car racing on a very soft surface, but not a street course in an actual purpose built race car.

the problem with this being "what it feels like," is when driving a car like this the car doesn't lean, instead it stays level and you feel a ton of lateral G's, which you can't simulate in your house

well the by product of the lean is feeling of experiencing the "G's" of ofcourse cars dont roll that much. if you enclosed that thin in a box, that rotated with you. you would not know that you are leaning as much, you mind would tell you because of the horizon you are seeing on the screen and feeling your weight being thrown around that you are actually accelerating and decelerating in the car.

Read what james wrote above, then get in a real car and feel how your body moves when you're turning or braking or accelerating, and you'll see that the motion of this cockpit will give you close to life feeling of the gforce you felt in the car. When you turn left, your body is pulled to the right, and so, this cockpit will roll to the right so that your body will be pulled by the gravity down, which, because you've turned will be to your right. It's more like "body candy".

This machine uses earths constant acceleration to simulate the lateral acceleration forces you feel when you turn the car!!! This is awesome.

I'm starting to look to build a driving sim cockpit but I can only dream of something like this in my home! I love driving and flight simulation and your rig is best out of all the ones I've seen so far.

The design is great, although difficult to get into than some others by appearance I think combined with some form of seat belt you could go to much greater angles than other rigs therefore simulating higher forces.

I hope you intend to market this!

It's using gravity, so if you accelerate it'll tilt upwards to push you against your seat. If you turn left, it will slowly lean right...depending on how hard you're turn is, it will adjust the lean more or less. That's how motion simulators work.
