Had an '84 Camaro s/c with a 305, did the same thing with the smoke, looked like the motor was on fire when I drove to school. Have an '89 RS now, no 305 this time, just a 2.8 I'm throwing out to put in an LSX Bow Tie block in, been doing body work on it until the block gets ordered, these Camaros are the best.

well with my camaro it smokes a lil to but its been sittin for a while so theres just alot shit that burns. it looks like yours is pretty clean but just take stuff off and see if theres any grass or anything

no offence i love camaros but you engine and engine bay is dirty you could clean it and hopfully find were the oil leak is coming from. the leak could also be leaking from the oil pan it may have a slight crack or the gasket may be old and needing replacement. hope you find out and gettin running good.

some guys gonna hopefully trade his 89 rs for my 92 b2600i he wants a truck but his Has a 4 bolt main 350 bored 30 over with 350TH transmission. has new water pump, alternator, starter, distributor, has edelbrock 650 carb, new fuel pump, wieland stealth intake, hedman long tube headers with 3 in. collecter 1 5/8 primaries. custom exaust.. aftermarket steering wheel, 6 in. tach, and B&M mega shifterhas

you might need a new piston ring ,oil could be slipping through into the cylinder abouve the piston where compression and combustion happens idk though..

The knocking noise is probably a bad exhaust gasket, or a bad exhaust manifold to exhaust pipe sealing donut.

check your crank case breather hose for leak nd check for vaccum leaks cuz ur idiling pretty high

theres a few things that could be that nockin if you have headers they could be nocking on the wall or it could be something inside like a rod but i doesnt really sound like a rod

what do you mean knocking on the wall? my car is doing the same thing. it started after i installed the hedman longtube headers and x pipe and no mufflers or anything. i was wondering what it was, people told me its a rod!!! i hope its not!!!! haha. whatever it is it sounds nasty and its embarassing to drive aroud like that haha

its really not that bad, well over 20 mpg can be had on the highway. about 15-16 mpg in city stop and go driving. this is if you drive it in a sane manner. they are no 4 cylinder but better than a pickup truck with the same engine. much more aerodynamic. these cars arent slow by any means, but they arent super fast either. with a little time and money they can be made to perform nicely. they have allot of potential. trust me they arent that bad on gas, and they handle nicely

rocker arms, check your rocker arms. we once had a 350 that was making that sound. we had to tighten the rocker arms. it doesnt sound like a rod, but something isnt right. otherwise, that car is in fantasic shape, especially for 500 bucks!! even if the engine is trash that car is worth allot more than that. nice car and even if it is serous, keep the car and fix it, that is one fine looking third gen

It seems to be a leak or a little clearance between valve heads and exhaust manifold, maybe the gaskets must be replaced. Also check the y pipe.

Ouch... that needs work. It'll be a really sweet car when it's done though! The only thing that I hear is the knocking... I'm trying to figure out what that is... the motor sounds pretty strong.

Take a look at your exhaust manifold gasket, as well as the gasket between the manifold and your piping. I had an exhaust leak down below and was not only loud but would begin to leak smoke out from down there once the engine was warm.

LOL, I got my 89 RS yesterday (10/17/08), If you didn't know there is a recall on the fuel system on this car mines needs a fuel pump and some other thing, you might want to check into that.
