  • Per chi vuole incontrare Julia Butterfly Hill in Italia sarà a Firenze il 9 Settembre 2009 al Museo Ortobotanico - Giardino dei Semplici dalle 17 in poi. Un'occasione da non perdere ... hi

  • truth and justice never rest!

  • I live in Germany and we have an article about her in our english school book!

  • This is so much more important than 99.9% of what's on tv.

  • She's a beautiful person.

  • For your information I would like to point out that Julia's book was printed on paper made from 30% post-consumer recycled fibres and 70% Forestry Stewardship Council-certified paper using soy-based inks. As for her platform I can tell you that it was made from wood scraps from a salvage yard. Please get your facts straight before you criticise both my comments and Julia's brave endeavour to save the Giant Redwoods- in particular Luna. I think you are the f****** stupid moron - get some sense!

  • I live in the UK and I am unsure what tree logging goes on in this country compared to the USA,but I hope it is not on such a large scale. I have just finished reading Julia' biography ' The Legacy Of Luna ' and found it most inspiring reading. She was and is one brave human being, and I was so glad to read of Joan Baez and Bonnie Raitt visiting her on the platform and sharing stories, ideals and songs. Ive seen Joan in concert and hearing her tell us about Julia I wanted to read about her myself

  • it sounds like you have a need for a world in which all people's opinions are respected. Would you be willing to tell us how you came to believe in the things you believe in ?

  • sure my believes are born out of logic and compassion and sprinkled with love!

    How about you?

  • Cutting in a way that can balance out the population of trees in the world is good. If you means what you wrote, you are not one of the spupid people I was talking about.

  • Why does being passionate, i.e., Julia's efforts to save old growth redwoods, equate to being a lunatic? Like you, I wouldn't live in a sequoia for 2 yrs...Julia did, and it's a unique and an admirable feat in my opinion. She's succeeded in saving a large portion of old growth redwoods from Pacific Lumber's chainsaws, so she was successful with here preservation "lunacy". Redwoods aren't like corn...do the math, time felling trees vs. 2000yrs growth. Ty DK, but im done w this pissing contest

  • I had a different Idiocracy metaphor in mind, but I try not to be personal or negative on here. Hurricane Ike, Luna the tree, Herbie the Love Bug, Freddie Mac -folks tend to personify objects...I have no idea why Julia called the tree Luna, you'd have to ask her.

  • i have no idea what you are trying to convey in your comment. i was using personification by calling Luna, a tree, "her".

on a lighter note, check out the movie Idiocracy DK0526...it's pretty funny. blah blah blah

  • Naming the trees? WTF! Is there names for blades of grass so that they to can be honored after the the great holocaust ((Errr! Lawnmowing))??? PS how do they know shes female?

  • sorry to waste you're time. im wasting your's, you are wasting mine. clever lawnmowing comment however! but seriously, check out the film Idiocracy, if you haven't already.

  • If you had a brain you would realize that you can plant a thousand seeds or more in the time that it takes to cut one tree and 1000+ more before you cut the next!

  • DK0526 has too much brain in his head that he don't even know the time of cutting trees is so much faster than growing them. DK0526, use your big head to do some arithmetic, it might help you. hahahah.....

  • I agree she seems like she had a stroke or something.

  • I suspect heavy drug use, protein malnutritian from a strick vegan diet, and other symptoms of brainwashing...It is not at all uncommon for these types to be involved in cults and thus show signs of physical stress!

  • she was in a serious car accident

  • I would think that she would avoid these evil contraptions of the modern industrialized world. If she were riding a horse or bicycle or walking then perhaps she would not have suffered by the wrath of technology. I hope she did not go to a hospital that used wood or paper products since they result from the cruel destruction of trees.

  • anyone know how luna is doing? i was shocked & saddened to hear someone hurt her

  • lol, you stay there long enought to see clear-cutting is a way to earn money.

  • I don't shave my armpits either.... are we the same?.... NO. I cut down trees with a huge smile. I imagine all you tree huggers owe me one for an endless supply of Ass Wipe.

  • You have the right feeling! Don't listent to DK0526. I wonder if DK0526 ever use his brain to think logically. DK0526's words are nonsense, and they sound stupid to me.

  • NO! She's not. She did a great job to protect our environment. If it's easy to negotiate with the owner, she didn't have to do like that. I dont' think she's a moron, but I think she's a brave woman.

  • I was born and raised in Humboldt County and reside here to this day. Anyone who thinks her breaking the law to stop someone from doing what they want with their property is an idiot. So you won't mind waking up and having someone posted up in your rotten apple tree so you can't cut it down b/c their heart is bleeding for it? There are plenty oldies protected on gov't land. What do you think that tree will stand forever? Couple years and it will be on the ground going to waste.

  • That's so wrong! Someone who support clear-cutting is an idiot. You should have read enought to say something like this. What's the effects after doing clear-cutting? You think you can live in a world without trees? I'm not saying that logging is a mistake; but I'm saying clear-cutting is the bad thing.

  • Just because you own something - in this case a property - it does not mean you can destroy whatever is in it!!

What kind of mentality is that???

People like you are destroying this planet.

  • Yeah dude, thats a good idea- seems like you really got the message

  • i find butterfly's passion admirable. also, how she lived in that tree for over 2 years is....fascinating at the least. but seriously, how egotistical and annoying can one person be?!

  • this is character

  • JBH kicks ass! DK0526 flunked kindergarten.
