Under no circumstances should a dog every growl at you or bare its teeth. If it does then it feels that you are the subordinate. This is very dangerous behavior because one day someone is going to get hurt. The only time it is ever okay for a rottie or any other dog to bare its teeth or growl is when it does so on command. You need to correct that ASAP because someone eventually WILL get hurt.

I've never owned a Rottie but I'm a tad skeptical this is an inherent trait in the breed. But I've been wrong before.
What I would suggest is to not continue to pet a dog that snarls at you in this manner, that only encourages the behavior. Then the next time you pet the dog it's learns that this is appropriate and now starts to snarl everytime it is petted. It may not be an aggressive snarl but then how do you tell the difference later on?

oh shut up, if you dont know anything! i, myself have a second rottweiler right this moment, so i know a bit about this raise (and about many other raises!).. this dog is not ''angry'' or ''mad''- this rottweiler is trying to tell the woman that it doesnt like touching that way. that kinda way (showing the theet) doesnt mean, it is making the human feel not confident.. ITS THE DOGS WAY TO COMMUNICATE, and wether the dog is this ladys or not.. the dog hasnt done anything wrong. she teases the dog

I've never owned a Rottie but I'm a tad skeptical this is an inherent trait in the breed. But I've been wrong before.
What I would suggest is to not continue to pet a dog that snarls at you in this manner, that only encourages the behavior. Then the next time you pet the dog it's learns that this is appropriate and now starts to snarl everytime it is petted. It may not be an aggressive snarl but then how do you tell the difference later on?

i have a rotti and if he shown his teeth to me like that he would of been hit with a backhand..my rotti has only done it once when i was picking his bowl up...and he's never done it again...these are powerful dogs u need to show them u are in charge or they gonna ignore you and will not respect you....rotti's are the most loving dog there is if brought up right

@OneFootInTheRave88- The girl may be annoying to us, but she really isn't doing anything wrong (she's not beating the dog, she's praising it) Ok she's re-enforcing the bad behaviour, which for her sake I'm hoping she's unaware of, but its the dog behaving this way. It probably came from a shelter, and was probably put there for the behaviour its exhibiting. Im not blaming the dog, what Im trying to do is make you think outside the box.

Put put the animal in a shelter, it won't get adopted for it's aggressive behaviour- which in turn will encourage the "rottweiller steriotype" and continue the vicious cycle- (excuse the pun) but running away from this problem is not solving it. my sister's dog is part rotty and is extremely territorial of her room when she is sleeping. you cant walk by or go in there or she will start growling and barking at you. but her tail is still wagging and she still lets you touch her. all bark and no bite. the dog is right here chillin with me right now.
