There isnt a more beautiful singing duo - both literally and figuratively than Agnetha and Frida.. they truly were divine angels...the sadness in the song is expressed in such a beautiful manner..... in that inimitable ABBA way
Like the Beatles they were very highly photogenic. I can't think of anyone in the music business these days that is like that. Could musical ability and being photogenic have any connection?
Amazing song. Stunning looping chorus, powerful "choir" effect that just gets stronger. Non traditional break up POV &, eloquently bittersweet lyrics . And the modulating outro chorus just builds in epicness to a majesty unrivalled in music. Arguably their greatest and definitely their most underrated.
Lines that get me every time:
"Our love was a snowbird, it's flying away"
"It's gonna be our last goodbye"
"This is no time for crying...don't you hear them play our song"
This is a great song... it's very sad but at the same time it sounds happy. So beautiful... Thank you for this song, ABBA, and thanks for uploading this, Jim!
Once upon a time four stars collided with each other. This collision created a universal explosion and a megastar was born.It was named ABBA.The fallout from this event rains down upon the earth still, today, forever and beyond, in the form of celestial music.
ABBA should have recorded and released 'Dance - While The Music Still Goes On' in 1982/1983 as their way of saying goodbye. I have always thought that is song sounds like they are saying goodbye even though it was released in 1974.
I definitely think this is Bjorn's best vocal performance of his career. Agnetha's at top form in her parts, too. Probably ABBA's best pre- "Abba" lp song.
@ji61m I think what they mean, just like MOST of the music 'press' does also, that Abba was not some sort of legitimate groupo before the big hit making formula.
Just rubbish.
This album Waterloo is amazing and one of the most diverse showcases of the group. I find it sublime and an apex of the 60's with the 70's sound. Thanks for posting the nice clip. Great photos.
this is very sad. this song reminds me of my ex boyfriend, and it hurts to think about it even though i hate him and love this song. agneta is great @ the beginning :) but song is soooooo sad :'(
It's funny how a song can be like a certain smell or vision and have the ability to bring memories ( good or bad ) rushing back to the surface....I hope all is well now? Thanks for looking in.
It is available on CD....The song was recorded on September 24th, 1973 and can still be purchased . It was offered on their album "ABBA Waterloo " which was released on March 4th, 1974! Thanks for looking in.
@ji61m hi I managed to purchase a 1976 Greatest Hit album on CD from ebay. The old tape although 34 years old appears to be in good order, is now obsolete.
I drove my brother crazy with this song in 1974 , I let the record play over and over and over. Geez i miss buying those 45 rpms. I still have all my records from way back.,At least 450 of them. I just can't seem to get rid of them, The first song I bought on a 45 was called " The last song" by Edward Bear. I was 13 then. Oh long time ago.
Man, this is a very sad song, the lycris almost made me cry, it was a very hard work to listen to this song. I like the song but it´s just very sad...
I agree. I love this song. This and "When All Said And Done." During a very rough patch in my marriage I remembered these two songs and was inspired to fight for it because this is something I do not want to go through.
This song is a blueprint to writing, producing & recording the perfect pop song. Timeless classic with beautiful harmonies. I don't understand why it was never released as a single as it is one of ABBAs finest!
Thank you Morten. Some songs just seem to stay with us longer than others, and this one is a good one. 1973....it seems like forever ago! Thanks for looking in.
Great slideshow. The intro pic of Agnetha is.. fabulous. She always had something in her eyes that's so beautiful and a bit melancholy. Her first 2 sentences (the first 8 seconds) in this song is stuck in my mind forever since about 15 years. It's extremely appealing to me. I need to hear it every once in a while, makes me feel very good. Thx for the post Jim =)
Thank you very much. Oh what thoughts could be racing through her mind in this picture. I'll keep looking into her eyes because they're the windows to the soul and they're are many stories left to be told. Thanks for looking in.
Thank you Ali. With two of the best songwriters in the business and arguably the best two female singers there have ever been, how can you do anything but succeed! In my opinion, there will never be another group like them...ever! Thank you for looking in.
Yes, that surely would be a hard thing to do, which song to single out... but somehow or other, some of the songs attract you more than the others, don`t they?

Hey Hey! Okay, I'll let you get away this time, but next time I'll catch you, Then you'll be in trouble! (Not Really!) At least I got to see ya even if it was only at this video.

You're very much welcome. It makes me happy to know that I can make others happy, not just by making a simple video, but by honoring ABBA the only way I know how!
I definitly agree. In the early years, they could really write a great ballad. Of course, the latter years brought about their redefinition of the term ballads. Thanks for looking in.
Thank you very much. These video's take a little time to do, but I'm happy people like the finished product. That's what were here for, to celebrate ABBA!
You know they were such a great team! Why knock either couple. They were equally beautifully. They weren't obsessed about being sexie like music bands are today..........they brought there very best to every song. They are seen world wide as a successfull band, not individually. Their solo careers have not been as successful as the group. ABBA YOU ROCK ON. GOD YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING!
You do know that it too all 4 to make the music don't you? Yes, Aggy(at times)recieved more praise, but that doesn't mean the others were any less recognized! The others get far less praise from people today than ever before. Why people can't recognize the other members without tearing down certain ones is beyond me. We all have opinions and that's great, but when you to cut them down like that, your no better than the ones we block around here! They're all great, remember that!
Jim, Look at the picture of AGGY looking at Bjorn @ 2:40.. Bjorn had to be one lucky son-of-a-(gun:-) at that time in their lives! Aggy was looking drop-dead gorgeous!!
Jim, I wish I had this album, but since it is a hard one to find I will enjoy the uploads you do from it. I hadn't even heard this song before and I like it a lot! I wonder how many songs they did that most people never heard before? I keep being amazed on their song writing abilities!
