It depends. Some only come with the body, some come with both. And you can get this one with both the kit lens, and the body.

I've got a question regarding the D5000's performance. When you take pictures, do they come out as grainy and noisy as the Nikon Coolpix cameras? I can't decide whether I should purchase a Nikon D5000 or an HX-1.

I have the D5000 & D90.

The D90 is a better camera but the D5000 takes the same pictures.

All early D5000's are defective and are recalled by Nikon. Make sure your serial number is 3114394 or above to avoid the defective D5000's.

The D5000 is great for a beginner just make sure you get one with a higher serial number than 3114394 to avoid the recall.

i had the d90 before this as a everyday carry cos my D3X is far to heavy and guess what the 90 sensor burntd out after 2mins of hd video on a cloudy day they have perfected the Hd vid in this camera now and its just a differant kinda camera the 90 you pay for the lens lol

yes sir , you can share the lens but if the lens does not have the AF motor inside it it wont autofocus on the d5000 but you can still manually do it

Well, the D5000 is the cheaper version of the D90. It was made for the Pro-sumer.

I have not had much time with the D5000 but the first thing I noticed is the grip feels pretty small and not as good as the 90.
