  • realy god song

  • This song is one of the best of the new pumpkins era.

I have to admit theres a few songs.

  • the vocals are effin awesome! it took me some time to get billy's vocals (i love them now) but if this was the first smashing song I have heard, then I would love them in an instant!

  • The only good song on TBK thus far. I really hope the rest of it gets better, because frankly the other songs are way too fluffy and weak. Disappointing.

  • Actually. This is really, really good. I have to say that I expected you to sell out, Billy. Im glad to hear that you're still putting your heart and soul into your music and your lyrics.

    Keep it up, Billy.

  • @GothClassics Only now u realize how good it is.... It was awesome the day it came out and still is like you said...actually it's really good. Billy only sold out once due to pressure from greedy Visa executives! lol

  • @pumpkinhead1977 - Maybe a relative needed money for an operation...

  • /|\

  • It's not the songs themselves but the way they've been produced that sounds weird to me.

  • @wobbygongman It's not you but your user name seems weird to me!

  • I really like the addition of Sitar in this song, it just makes it sound amazing.

  • man i love smashing pumpkins, have so much great music, this song is so relaxing to listen to, makes me feel like water. only thing i will say is i fucking hate billy corgan, dude is such a dickhole, all he ever talks about how he's a genius and he so much smarter than any other frontman and how awesome he thinks he is. just sayin, great music tho, cant deny that

  • I wasn't a fan of zeitgiest... the production was simply too clean and unchallenging. I loved machina II and so far all the new american gothic acoustic tracks and teargarden material has been solid!

  • i really like this, Billy's still got it

  • awesome

  • I am not critizing TbK, I really like the new songs (as I liked Zeitgeist), but @Samuel500 was saying Adore isn't a good album and I think it's the BEST album. That's it.

  • Don't let other people lay their trips on you. Good advice right there.

  • i like it, it grew on me..has an almost fleetwood mac kinda feel to it

  • very dreamy, good work billy

  • good. good. this is good. i liked this and a song for a son. i hated widow wake my mind. but my only problem is its all soft. billy makes beautiful music. but i liked the anger in songs like tales of scorched earth and x.y.u. and zeitgeist sucked. i just want he to show some intensity this album.

  • I like this a lot! Thanks for posting it pumpkinhead1977.

  • I think so far it sounds a lot like there older stuff which i like a lot

  • Best song off the album so far loving this! My inner hippie is laying down looking up the grass on summer day.

  • boring.....

  • I think the songs are not bad but they're not as good as songs from past albums..... it's sad to say but it's the truth

You don't hear the power of Quiet or Everlasting Gaze.... You don't get the beauty of Luna or 1979...

You know what I really fucking hate....The way Billy sings now...He sucks at many...especially in Widow Wake My Mind with all the stupid Ahhh Ahhh Ahhh's...That reaaally pisses me off!

  • One of the things I'm liking about Teagarden is the artwork, Mellon Collie was more like Victorian art but Teagarden's artwork reminds me of Mellon Collie in a way.

  • Great, Pumpkinhead! Once a pumpkin always a pumpkin! They will always be the greatest band ever! My personal favorite song is Rotten Apples, though.

  • its new singer?

  • Sometimes I wish that Billy had never written Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie(though I love those two albums) because so-called "fans" haven't shut up about them since! I love that Billy is unpredictable and never really does the same thing twice.

  • Everyone shut up, ALL SP rules. And I mean EVERYTHING!!! Zeitgeist was great. Teagarden is looking good so far too! Obviously, some SP is better than other stuff but I personally am a HUGE fan. LONG LIVE THE MIGHTY SP AND THE GENIUS, BILLY CORGAN, THAT LEADS THEM!!

  • @33MellonCollie Well said mate.

I happy on the same boat as you, pass

    me that row buddy!

  • @pumpkinhead1977 row is an action, an oar is what you row with

  • Look dude, im a fan too but you arent being objective. Even Corgan says he didnt know what he was thinking when he made Zeitgeist......so there you have it.....fan from hell

  • @YOURLIVINGALLOVERME

When did he say that? is there an interview...I'd like to see it.

  • @alibabaschultz You'd like to see that you say? It was on last months rolling stone (the one with shawn white on the cover). He says "I dont know what I was thinking" and its described by the author as "a punishment for fans that wanted to see the band back together"......you probably want them back together....

  • @YOURLIVINGALLOVERME

I'm not sure if there is intended cynicism in that comment or not...

I was just asking a question because I did want to see the interview...not because i didn't believe or disagreed with you, but because I just wanted to see the interview.

    Thanks!

  • @alibabaschultz sorry I just thought you were that other dude. The interview is on Rolling Stone. Its Shawn White's second cover. I believe the issue is number 1100. I think you should get a hold of it. Its really interesting and somewhat depressing. Billy doesn't seem to be in a good place but he is as interesting as ever. Sorry about the cinisism.....

  • @YOURLIVINGALLOVERME

It's all good. Thanks, I'll check that out.

  • @33MellonCollie THANK YOU!! and AMEN!! i've been saying this for years and YES Zeitgeist was GREAT!!! you're a real fan!

  • Yeah! You both are right! Give me another one row!

  • @33MellonCollie The only reasons Adore, Machina, Machina 2, Zeitgeist, and now Tear Garden By Kaleidescope are not as popular is because a lot of Smashing Pumpkins fans are jerks stuck in their way and when Machina came out people were almost through with real music and geting on the whole Hip-Hip, Rap, Pop, and Boy Band thing and were more concerned with how good looking the artist were and less concerned with how good they were at making actual music. Machina is my favorite SP album ever.

  • Lovely, easily the best song released so far. His best vocal performance sine The FutureEmbrace, IMO.

  • VanwynGARDEN and KaleidFYSCHE says

how is that sugar free birthday cake BILL???

  • widow is not that bad, but is not great; a song for a son is amazing, and this last one kick asses, im kind a hopeful for the next songs, Smashing is working very good

  • This Sounds Soooo Crazy but I Get a Lil' Vibe From Stevie Nicks Off This Tune!?!?!?!? Crazy Yes but It's Perfect! God Billy's Voice is Amazzzzing!!!!!

  • This is the best song so far from the new album.

  • @fatcatbuzz you know why? It was written a few years ago; back inbetween concerts.

    In the good ole days.

  • so cool

  • nothing against led zepplin ...just don like comparisons --- kind of wolfmother being the xxi century led zepplin band...

  • well i like SP since the first album. in my opinion the meaning of this short song is ''freedom'' . the psychadelic tunes from 60's and 70's are very present in this beutifull piece of song. enjoy while u can ;) nevermind led zepplin c'mon!!!!

  • cant wait ill their tour but im sad ginger wont be part of it but happy for her and her family=]

  • 3 down, 41 to go, god help us all! His genius is dead, long live his genius (in otherwords siamese dream and mellon collie).

  • @slimjimmyg

:S not sure how to take this.

Billy is amazing, and so is this song, favourite to date of the progressive album.

  • No, you are dead mate,or shall I say living in the past. Have you never heard of the modern expression..."moving forward"?!! That's what the pumpkins are doing and in a very positive way! Sorry to inform you that it's 2010 not 1995 anymore!

  • Yeah ive heard of "moving forward", and i wouldn't call the new songs moving forward, songs that wouldn't of even been considered as b-sides at their artistic peak. As for them moving forward in a positive way, i don't see billy being the only original member left positive, i don't see him holding open auditions so any tom, dick or harry can become a member positive, and i definitely don't think the 3 new songs are positive, cheerios!

  • actually he held open auditions for their new drummer and he's holding auditions for a new bassist and a new keyboardist

  • @pumpkinhead1977 lol so true

  • @pumpkinhead1977 Unfortunately it's pretty right though. Gish and Siamese Dream were near perfection. SD in particular is one of very few albums I own which does NOT have one bad song on (the other being Silverchair's Frogstomp). I will say however that Gossamer was epic. In all ways. More like that please. Or some Ave Adore-esque collabs with Trent Reznor maybe?

  • @pumpkinhead1977 Wait, wait, wait- it's not 1995 anymore???

  • @pumpkinhead1977

It is foolish to say that post D'arcy and Iha is anywhere near as good as the days with the original lineup.

That's not to say that Teargarden is bad though. This song actually kicks considerable ass. Astral Planes and WWMM, on the other hand, makes me laugh. Freak and ASFAS are just pretty good.

Zeitgest sucks. Almost no artistic vision. They attempted to make a mainstream album. whaaaat?

Adore, Mellon Collie, Siamese Dream, and even Pisces are beastly.

  • @slimjimmyg zeitgeist was a steaming piece of mainstream dogshit but otherwise everything the pumpkins have done and our doing i love!

  • @slimjimmyg Now that Freak is out, though, you'd have to an idiot to still think this.

  • Definitely the best of the singles released thus far...but then again after "Widow..." anything might seem like the second coming of christ.

  • This is best of the 3 releases so far imo - a good song, that really does make you want to listen again and again, like the best pumpkin tunes and the best music in general.

  • musically, these singles may stand the test of time. but lyrically....I cannot feel this at all, and I think anyone who does is fooling themselves. the song hardly gets at anything worthwhile. "there's somewhere I just gotta be" hey great...

  • actually no, the song is perfectly mediocre as well. I'm being cynical because Smashing Pumpkin's music deserves to be looked at with a critical eye, not a biased, adoring one.

  • I wish people would disregard the past of fantastic albums like Mellon Collie and Siamese Dream, because that's over, it's been over for a long time now. This, I feel, is a new start for the band, or rather, Billy himself.

  • and your a retard with no good taste in music at all .. congratz .. get a fuckin life ..and stop listenin to the smashing pumpkins

  • @zeppelinfan36 Fuck off, u piece of shit, what do u listen to, oh, i guess that'd be rap or something else thathas no meaning, Fuck You, Smashing Pumpkins are one of the best rock bands ever, in my mind THE best

  • ooo i dont dont kno what i listen to hmm my fucking names zeppelinfan i wonder what that means u fucking genius and i seriously think its funny that u consider this piece of shit rock???? ur a bad ass ur mind doesnt mean anything to the world lick my nutts

  • @zeppelinfan36 whatever u cunt, i didn't really look at ur name, what's the point? anyway, this is more pop-y than rock, but most of their other songs are Amazing pieces of rock, which is why Billy Corgan is constantly called a rock God and why Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness are seen as some of the most influential ROCK albums of all time, so fuck off you waste of life, you don't even know real music, you stupid cunt fuck

  • who ever those people are that give these "rock stars" that title are more retarded than you and .. yea clearly i dont kno good music ... led zeppelin sucks ur right yea... good job

  • Just go away.

  • @zeppelinfan36 yeah i am right, and no, people have oppinions and yeah, u're more retarded than me or the CRITICS, so fuck u

  • no?

  • @zeppelinfan36 what are your reaons to say that they aren't good?

  • well billys singing is terible for one the lyrics what ever but its awful at best ... the drums i like dont get me wrong im directing my hate more twards the shitty singing than anything but they are far from good

  • Congrats on making all Led Zep fans look absurdly petty, immature and passive aggressive.

  • yea cause im the president of the led zeppeling god and smashing pumpkins suck a dick fan club ......thata boy ... ur right

  • Not president.

With your name your just representative.

  • u think mabye i can graduate to president and move my way up in it?

  • @zeppelinfan36

"Robert Plant came in once," Shebrio says. "Then he asked for the new Smashing Pumpkins record." - Rebel Rebel

  • lets hope he burnt it and did us all a favor

  • @TheSPumpkin100

You ignorant moron. You lose all credibility by saying rap has no meaning.

I'm not taking sides because both you are acting like children.

However, I will say that Smashing Pumpkins were once one of the great rock bands. The albums following Mellon Collie however showed them slipping and it became apparent that BIlly let his ego get in the way of the band. Zeitgeist was a mess as a result of this.

On topic, this "album" isn't looking so great so far. I'll give it a chance...

  • @Samuel500 sorry, i should've been more clear, i meant to say rap TODAY has no meaning, a few years ago, ya, it did, but now, it's just crap, i don't see how you could say that 'Adore' was 'slipping' it was just a different style of music which happened in all of the other albums; Gish, SD, MCIS, ADORE, MACHINAS 1 AND , ZEITGEIST, they all just changed their style, but that's what makes SP great

  • @TheSPumpkin100 Once again, you're wrong. There's still a shitload of great hip hop out there. You just aren't looking (and are probably basing this after hearing the mainstream hip hop scene alone). Mos Def, MF Doom, The Roots, Blu & Exile, CunninLynguists, Talib Kweli and Cannibal Ox are all hip hop artists who've released damn fine albums in the past decade. In fact, Mos Def released one of his best records yet last year. Spend a bit of time and you'll find great artists in most genres.

  • @Samuel500 Mate, I just don't like Hip Hop/ Rap/ RnB maybe I haven't heard the ones that you're suggesting, but if you've listened to a type of music again and again because of the people that love them are playing them aloud at the back of the bus, you have no reason to go listen to it again, have you?

  • @TheSPumpkin100 It's not the fact that Adore was different that made it slightly inferior. It's the fact that the songs just weren't as strong or as tight. I'm all for a band experimenting, just as long as they can still deliver. A prime example of this is Boris. They've released countless albums, each touching upon a different genre (from drone to post-rock) and almost all of them have been great. If they decide to change again, I won't be worried since I know they can probably pull it off.

  • @Samuel500 I loved Adore

  • @Samuel500 Adore is really a better album: best lyrics, best, vocals, bast mixing. Great songs, the pumpkins in their peak.

  • @saturnslament Ah but you seem to forget there are forty + songs to go ! Trust me when it's all finished and we sit back and listen to Teargarden as a whole the experience will be monumental...

To quote Billy directly: "If you mean by the last, the last of the 44 I hope to finish, I would hope that by then I would have created a whole new exciting Smashing Pumpkins sound that is compatible with the old sound but is wholly different. I am definitely trying."

  • @TheSPumpkin100 Finally, Zeitgeist shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Siamese Dream or Mellon Collie. It was such a piss poor attempt at a comeback album. The lyrics were bad, the songs were monotonous at best and the production was godawful, the vocals being way too prevalent in the mix and the guitars sounding like they were recorded from a 10 watt practice amp. It was just a complete mess of an album. Some songs could've been decent if they were structured/recorded better.

  • @Samuel500 tbh, I haven't even been able to listen to all of zeitgeist fully, but what I have heard is sounding pretty good, but i s'pose it's a matter of oppinion

  • @Samuel500 Zeitgeist was fucking awesome. I like it more than MCIS and I tie it with SD. And way better than Gish.

  • @TheSPumpkin100 true statment

  • @zeppelinfan36 if you don't like them you don't need to watch their videos right?

  • @zeppelinfan36 Everybody, seriously, zeppelinfan is right. C'mon, I mean look at all the great songs he wrote.

  • Can you do better? Let's hear it. Post something.

  • fart

  • Billy take my word, this IS the little song that COULD!!!!

  • I just imagined this song as a quaint radio hit that nobody saw coming! Like somehow it just connected with the kids. That would really be magical! It's a simple but unique song. At first I wished that it had the violin of the live version. But now I'm really liking the crystaline beauty of that synth sound ! I'm just loving the song for what it is and that's a good sign. I DO still hope that other songs on the album have strings ... and other odd acoustic instruments. AND blazing guitar fuzz

  • @Culdune dont worry, there are still 41songs to come out yet :D

  • @Culdune - I like how you think. :)

  • To new music that resonates!!! lisam805

    Cheers!

  • i love it !

  • Alright a good one!

Song For A Son - GREAT! Best one so far

Widow Wake My Mind - ......meh its ok

    Stich in Time - Good

  • loooove it!! i hate to wait for the next tune :(

  • Ur a fool if you expect anything in par with mellon collie from Billy Corgan's new Smashed Pumpkins

  • Is there really any need to compare any new material to the past regardless. The past really means nothing to Billy at the moment.

  • Good to hear Billy still changing the sound with every new album. Keep it up. I like the new effort.

  • I would have to agree with that.

  • i like it! very much...

  • poor billy, his voice keeps getting more and more feminine, what a shame

  • This okay, I guess, for an acoustic solo song. Why is this even still released under the name The Smashing Pumpkins? I don't hear The Smashing Pumpkins in any of these releases at all, I hear Billy Corgan solo material.

  • @420Guitar420 Teargarden is a 44 track concept album divided into 4 parts. This is the first volume consisting of slower songs.

FYI kiddo, Mellon Collie had song VERY similar to this.

No one Pumpkins album sounds the same. Gish was different from Siamese Dreams and the same applies for every album after it.

  • Please don't compare a classic to this.

  • @420Guitar420 I just did, get over it.

  • You're delusional.

  • I could easily imagine this song on Mellon Collie. This is even better than some of the songs on MCIS. Cupid De Locke is a good example. I think MCIS would be an even better album if this song replaced Cupid De Locke or Love.

  • Sorry but this is just Billy Corgan solo material. It's not horrible but it's bland. Since we're all fans of the pumpkins I don't really want to turn this in to a huge arguement so let's just leave it at a matter of disagreement.

  • Dude yes. The songs keep getting better and better!! You can tell TBK will be a magical majestic album!!!

  • I thought Song for a son was better than Widow though. I do like this song.Cant wait for more.

  • Nice Widow Wake My Mind is up there for me because it's my happy song lol.

  • i love it!

  • better than the other two songs i think.

  • jeez it's badly cut too. 0:36

  • @AOCRkid

    wat do u mean?

  • you can't hear the jump cut in his voice?

  • i dont like this song. the first two were way better than this one. please dont flame me.

  • This is actually pretty decent. So far I'm not too impressed with this album but these are ok. Song For Son was ok too. Both of them are better way better than Widow which I thought was awful. I guess I was just still expecting a masterpiece like Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Hope there are some heavy ones to balance the album out but we'll see.

  • @CraigPhilipMyBeer

I hated widow as well, mostly that fucking OH that repeats throughout the song. This song is pretty good though and song for a son was alright

  • Just Amazing!!

  • Awesome Song. I've enjoyed all 3 so far quite a bit.

  • Not bad. It's better than Widow Wake My Mind, but not as good as Song for a Son. Hopefully SP continues along the lines of this and Song for a Son rather than Widow Wake My Mind.

  • Totally agree. And I can't wait to hear some more heavy tunes..

  • i agree completely.

  • okay, nevermind. It wasn't Linda Strawberry(I don't know why I thought it was), but I still wish he would have included it. Great stuff, regardless!

April 20th can't come soon enough!:-)

  • As much as I'm loving this, I do wonder why Billy opted not to include Linda Strawberry's violin into the final recording. The violin turned a great song into an outstanding song!
