Yes, the Flip could only do 720p @ 30FPS but the Zi8 can do 1080p @ 30FPS, 720p @ 60FPS and 30FPS. It is also a 5 megapixel still camera. And it will take up to a 32GB SD card. I have an 8GB now and it can do a full hour of video in any mode. It also has image stabilization but it's hard to tell if it works. I have found video looks best if you mount the camera to a tripod and not move it around too much.
