  • Ignore the haters. That tone sounds excellent, along with your playing.

  • You got alot of money in your rig but not really hearing anything completed other than some chugging for a $4000+ rig. Hint= spend less time on building your costume more time on your chops.

  • @Tonesnob72 Then my hint to you is that this clip is 44 seconds long, and I don't even play metal normally. I'm signed, gig pretty much every week and have plenty of music out there, and if my other videos don't convince you that I have chops then it's really not my problem, I'm doing fine anyway :) Maybe you should spend more time on your chops and less on insulting other guitar players.

  • Can you share the preset??

  • This is one of the best metal guitar tones I have ever heard. EVER. So thick and rich. Love your riffs as well. Not that it is anything big but if thie video was in sync with the sound, I would.. probably be drooling. haha.

  • ENGL used, and you did no solo? The FUCK?

  • Put your Axe-FX direct in to your camera, you'll get better sounds and no latency issues. Good playing, keep it up!

  • emo fag

  • @jpmusik86 Hah!

  • settings?

  • Nice stuff man, check out my stuff. I got some axe fx songs up! :P

  • Hi!Just wanted to ask how you plugged your axe fx to the computer.I tried my axe fx directly to the mixer without using a power amp and cab, but it sounded shit with all the factory presets.I plugged its unbalanced output to my mixer which is connected to studio monitors. My sound this way was not even close to what i hear from your video.

However when i tried to connect the axe fx to the vht 2/50/2 power amp and cab it sounded great at all high gain presets.

    Maybe i do something wrong?

  • Awesome vid man. Can't believe it sounds that good through a stereo..

I put up some Axe vids too. Check them out man!

  • How good is the processor on the Axe FX when emulating tube tone? Say if you had a Bogner Uberschall and had the Axe FX Uberschall preset could one tell the difference between the two?

  • How good is the processor on the Axe FX when emulating tube tone? Say if you had a Bogner Uberschall and had the Axe FX Uberschall preset could one tell the difference between the two?

  • how do people afford this shit, i would slay faces across the world if i could only buy one.

  • great stuff

  • What are your monitors ? Krk ? Or ? Thanks.

  • who do you this pinch harmonic? kinda weird... cannot get the high pitch. you slide and then do the pinch around 3 cm away from the bridge?

  • why are so ignorant? man, get a haircut

  • John's the man.

  • How long have you been playing in this?

  • @ThisIsNotSharyn I guess about 10 years or so.

  • Nice playing, buddy. How old are you?

  • @ThisIsNotSharyn cheers! I'm 20 now but I was 18 or 19 when I recorded this.

  • what kinda stereo you running through??

  • @motabaco Some old Funai system, I really don't know much about it. I've long since abandoned it for Adam A5's.

  • @Ice7String

    what is an adam a5

oh and I want you to know.. you totally sold the axe fx for me.. cause if it sounds like that coming through a old stereo system.. it'll sound awesome running through a tube powered atomic powered wedge.. with my Ibanez RGD 2127z with 18v modded blackouts :D

  • @motabaco Great to hear, man! :) Adam A5 is a studio monitor.

  • @Ice7String and a good studio monitor at that

  • I want to know what kind of straighten he uses...

  • Thanks for the demo, didn't know about the trick you did in the end of the vid. Now I have to use it in my next song! Sweden rules! ;)

  • @fearedse Cheers man! Go ahead, I wish I could steal some patches from you :)

  • Oh yeah about the review...why didn't you just plugged yourself in the PC? Through the Line in...

  • pretty...

  • awesome tone.

  • Great work John! Ya got chops and skill man. Too bad the haters here are blinded by your style. Wouldn't work for me but it obviously does for you... and I'm sure you've got the girl(s) to prove it. Keep rockin'n'rollin.

  • @BornIntoMusic Cheers for the kind words man! Yeah I'm pretty liberal about style, I don't really take it seriously but unfortunately as soon as your hair grows a bit long people start calling you names... but that's the internet for ya :) I don't seem to get any of that in real life, so it doesn't bother me. Keep rockin yourself mate and thanks for checking out my vid!

  • Good demo man. Sick playing. I'm gonna start saving for one of these.

  • @Rickles cheers mate! It's definately worth it, both for recording and live use. Everytime we go out to play live I make friends with a new sound tech, because the Axe-Fx makes their job so much easier :p

  • @Griffith101 I'm a little amused at the fact that you think you know me after watching a 45 second guitar demo... but it's your life mate, spend it on being an internet tough-guy if that's what gets you off.

  • @Ice7String Funny thing is that i can relate two both comments so i just thumbed both up xD Hahahahaha...

  • metalcore much??? try something different, its annoying to see pussy ass metalcore kids. LISTEN TO VILDHJARTA

  • @ForTheLoveOfGod Alright dude... first of all, I DO listen to Vildhjarta (I'm Swedish ffs...), and have never listened to nor played any metalcore. These riffs are from a song from my old Prog-metal band. Second of all, I quit that band because I got too busy doing session work aswell as getting too occupied with my band Rhinestone (listen to the songs I have up and dare to call that metalcore). Third of all, stop being a judgmental asshole, for the love of God!

  • @ForTheLoveOfGod

could also be a swedish melodic death metal type of thing.

doesnt sound much like metalcore at all.

  • any chance you could share this patch with a fellow axe fx user?

  • even thru a shitty mic, that tone is still absolutely great

  • Woah! Nick Jonas straightened his hair and switched musical genres!

  • @evant95 Dude, that's just cold...

  • @Ice7String Just kidding man, you just look like him. No harm intended. He's nothing musically compared to you.

  • @evant95 Haha no problem man, cheers! :)

  • OMG that pich/slide harmonic was totally awesome, I thought it was an effect at first, nice play man and great tone too.

  • Dude! Amazing riffs! Are you using the std or the ultra? Have you experienced any problems running two amps if you use the std? Stay tuned!

  • Dude! Amazing riffs! Are you using the std or the ultra? Have you experienced any problems running two amps if you use the std? Stay tuned!

  • @joshi666 Cheers mate! It's the Std model, and the only time I've ever run out of processing power is when I've run double amps with double cabs and a load of effects... take away one cab block and just run two different cabs in stereo in the same block, that'll save CPU. And if you want to make a ridiculous effects patch, you might want to stick to a single amp. But for dry metal tones like this, 2 amps and even 2 cabs are no problem on the Std.

  • Uhm... you're not the one playing...

  • @PokerChipNut

Uhm, you don't know shit about guitars ^^

Ofcourse he is the one playing..

  • is this recorded by line6 ?

  • @ikfeng absolutely not, this is an Axe-Fx :) For some reason some guy was asking me about Line6, that's how it came up.

  • In your opinion .. you think the Line6 Metal Shop are worth or not ~?~? because i'm thinking to UPDATE the model pack or not `~~ thank you

  • @neo69hk I wouldn't know, I haven't used Line6 gear in a few years and even then i never bothered getting any expansion packs. I do know some people get good recording tones with the metal POD, as long as you spend some time learning to use the graphic EQ.

  • Wow sounds great, man. I have an AxeFX Ultra, and I'm STRUGGLING to get a good sound out of it. Well sometimes I create a patch I think is good, then everyone else hates it hahaha

  • Hmmm, reviewing a $2000 processor with the mic of a $60 cam is like testing a ferrari enzo in a 10mph limited road

  • @Lgw1984 the alternative was to not record anything at all. I'm not reviewing the unit, I'm doing a quick sound clip and for what it's worth a lot of people have been impressed by this tone, so obviously it filled its purpose. Take your negativity elsewhere, I never asked for it.

  • @Ice7String I still say, with that recording quality it doesn't matter if you're using a Bogner or a Chinese solid state amp, it will sound bad anyways...

  • @Ice7String why didn't you directly record in you soundcard? that should do the job quite well with an asio-driver!

  • @quaxBK I had all my recording gear (including the computer itself) over at my bass player's place when I shot this video, so this was the best I could do. I'll make some videos with proper recording gear and hopefully a better camera as soon as I can! Thanks for watching!

  • @Lgw1984: LMAO. My thoughts exactly.

  • oh i see, very cool riffs :)

  • hey can you tell me what song you were playing in this???

  • @kira9109 some random riffs that I came up with on the spot, and some from the song "Looking from the Outside" from my old band Cohobation. :)

  • dude that pinch and scrape at the same time is SICKKKKKKKKK!

  • @snowbrdr88 how the hell do you do that?!?!

  • could you provide some more detailed information about how you set up this patch? sounds pretty killer..

  • Dirst I use a compressor to even out the signal, then a PEQ to cut the bass before the preamp. The Bogner is louder, and has a lot of bottom end, the Engl is a little quieter but adds a prescence boost and a little bit of that metallic modern edge. They both go into the Recto2 and German cabs with the R121 Cond mic on both. No air or drive. And that's it, as far as I know :)

  • thanks!!.. I'll try that :)

  • nice picking man

  • Ohhh so clever man, post ignorant shit on Youtube and it drops your IQ.

Wow making yourself seem above people on the internet must make you cool huh? Wrong.

  • @mongwobodine ever thought someone might like the tone of the added low end of dropped tunings? i suppose everyone who plays a 7 string is an idiot to you.

  • great chops!

greetings from Mr.PC (at the fractal baord)

  • Thanks man :) I want to start visiting the fractal forums more often but I don't feel like I'm knowledgeable enough about all that stuff yet to have any useful input :p I'll be uploading some of my band's songs soon though, as all the guitars and bass are recorded with the Axe-Fx :) I love this ugly little box!

  • @mongwobodine: I play in a funk-rock band, a country pop band and have been in verious jazz ensembles and stints with big bands, classical guitar ensembles etc. People were asking for a straight-forward metal demo from the Axe-Fx and I provided that. Your idea about tuning relating to a person's IQ shows what kind of level your IQ is at. Please untie your knickers and stop insulting people you've never met, just some friendly advice from me to you.

  • @mongwobodine You have no idea what you're talking about.. do you?

  • Man! Could you please post a video with possibly better audio? It sounds killer even recorded with a laptop mic.

  • I've got both the Axe-Fx and all my recording gear over at the studio now recording my band, so I won't have it back home for a while. But once I get it back I have a lot of stuff I want to upload with the Axe :) Thanks for watching!

  • Sounds killer John! Nice playing too!!

Any chance you would share what your settings are on the Axe-Fx beyond a Bogner + Engl? I took a shot at those together on my Ultra and it didn't sound as good as yours. Also, are you running direct into your laptop or using an amp in the room? if an amp, which one?

    Cheers!

  • Thanks man! I'm unsure of the settings as I'm always tweaking them, but I'm pretty sure I'm running both through Recto2 and German cabs in stereo, both with the R121 Cond mic. No air on the cabs. Also play around with the transformer match and pwr tube bias in the advanced settings on the amps.

  • Someone told PRS guitars are not made for metal ? lol

  • Hehe people say a lot of things :p PRS kind of have the reputation of being a radio-rock guitar, but they are awesome metal guitars too :)

  • These guitars are awesome, you can play anything with it =P I'm just in love with Custom Models !

(Custom 24 25th Anniversary Oh My GOOOD <3 I'm just like a fuckin' kid when I talk about PRS lol)

  • i think opeth uses prs customs

  • nice. axe fx rules :)

  • Hye, good tone man. What tuning are you in? Sounds very low and deep. Drop D or Drop C#?

  • Thanks! Drop C, actually :)
