  • See Zancanaro singing this.

  • A beautiful rendition of my own favorite role to sing, but he is even more superb when singing in his native Russian in Tchaikovsky. Listen to Louis Quilico's version of this from the 1973 full recording with Sills, Gedda, Quilico and Plishka, he is absolutely sublime in his interpretation and the use of his voice, which his has a golden velvet quality to it.

  • si muy bonita voz, pero en vivo la voz le falta brillo y no corre mucho que digamos el sonido, pero la voz de baritono es muy buena =)

  • i puritani remind me a lot of il trovatore :) the plot.

  • What a performance! What a voice! This man is a hero!

  • I don't understand how one can get away with not using consonants.

  • Love his voice but he´s so FUCKING FULL OF HIMSELF... that that´s the only thing I DON´T LIKE!!!

  • @ezayi I would be full of myself if I were as hot and talented as he is

  • @ezayi as many baritones are O.o

  • Seguramente la voz de baritono mas bella de todas, pero le falta un poco de proección, en teatro le falta brillo.

  • Two diamonds: First, Bellini...after, Hvorostovsky.

  • Nice voice but this is not belcanto

  • this is my favourite baritone bel canto aria, and I have nothing against Hvorostovsky. But he is singing Riccardo just like escamillo. And his legato is not effortless by the way

  • que perfeccion la que nos regala este maestro del canto

  • 唱的很美!

  • Is it me, or is he going sharp on some of his higher notes, especially the held ones? I love him, regardless, but I just wondered if I was hearing correclty.

  • great line and legato... but why he has so much tongue in his throat??? you can clearly see that he constantly draws his tongue backwards... and not in Domingo style, but more like a giant squid :)

can somebody explain is that some kind of technique or what?? thanks!

But i absolutely love his interpretation!!

    Long live Dima!!!

  • Absolument superbe !!!

    J'adore cet opéra

    Thanks

  • frufruJ, do you know if Dima has ever performed this role onstage? I think he would be a perfect match for Arturo!

  • He indeed has. I have recordings of his 1994 performance with Edita Gruberova and his 1992 performance with Sumi Jo. A short video from the 1994 performance is here: watch?v=lnxetZT2HWY He has been focusing on Verdi lately, though.

  • frufruJ, I just shared this spell-binding vid with my friend Dodi, she is an aspring singer you should hear her! she has a voice like Roschmann! Maybe you could give a few encouraging pointers!

  • But I'm no Hvorostovsky! :-)

  • C'est tout simplement un rêve. Merci à vous frufruJ !

  • Next the Finale! That´s singing "a capella"! Wow...

  • i luv his facial expressions.... they go perfectly with his singing!!!!!!

  • I love Dmitri's bel canto but he must be through with bel canto repertoires and moved on to Verdi.

So this is a great recording, thanks.

He has recorded bel canto CD and that 's my treasure.

  • woooooW! bellini by Dmitri is somethin´! Dima the King Midas of baritones! many Thx again frufruJ!

  • he sounds amazing with watever he sings!!!!!

  • what the hell is that sound at 2:13?!

  • hmmmm

  • I thought he might lose it at 4:02, but he remembered. I could see some fear in his eyes though. I've made that look many times.

  • everything he sings is absolutely beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!
