A beautiful rendition of my own favorite role to sing, but he is even more superb when singing in his native Russian in Tchaikovsky. Listen to Louis Quilico's version of this from the 1973 full recording with Sills, Gedda, Quilico and Plishka, he is absolutely sublime in his interpretation and the use of his voice, which his has a golden velvet quality to it.

this is my favourite baritone bel canto aria, and I have nothing against Hvorostovsky. But he is singing Riccardo just like escamillo. And his legato is not effortless by the way

great line and legato... but why he has so much tongue in his throat??? you can clearly see that he constantly draws his tongue backwards... and not in Domingo style, but more like a giant squid :)

I love Dmitri's bel canto but he must be through with bel canto repertoires and moved on to Verdi.
