  • EPIC

  • If you ad lighter fuel and a match will it be flaming pumpkin foam

  • The pumpkin looked like it had rabies...

  • That's just the volcano trick inside a pumpkin!!! Lame!!!!

  • Elephant toothpaste!

  • Fail..

  • Pumpkin cream pie anyone?

  • Duh.. The pumpkin got sick

  • OMG, IT'S SO COOOL!! I SHOULD TRY THAT NEXT YEAR FOR HALLOWEEEEEN <3

  • mr pumpkin says, "BLARGHARGHARGA" cuz he threw up :(

  • The song Gets stuck in My head,:D

  • Vomit xD

  • Yeast caused it to grow

  • im gonna do this for halloween!! can u reply to my comment??

  • Damn. This guy is awesome ._. He makes me curious of science even though I hate it O-o Oh no I'm becoming a nerd... Dx

  • This reactions nickname is elephant toothpaste

  • Im gonna pour some soap & Hydrogen Peroxide in my kids mouths when they cuss, then pour in the Yeasty water, and theyll never cuss again.

  • you got some muscle

  • the base (soap) made the yeast react at a quicker pace than normal and expands the soap particles.

  • The pumpkin was out partying last night. "Dude, I'm gonna hurl !" BLLLUUUUUUUAAAAAAHHHHHHHH !!!

  • I did that at school today but not with a pumpkin (:

  • sheldon on big bang theory is all i can say

  • 0:47 It has rabies

  • Did anyone else notice how when it says "Share your Conclusion on how you think this happens by leaving a comment below" the white letters spell out science?;D

  • @laughalltheway1 yes. yes we do :)

  • What catalyst do you use when you do this on a much bigger scale? Is it the same yeast mixture and a different concentrate of hydrogen peroxide? Or is both the concentration and catalyst different?

  • who does the stuff?

  • I would like your videos more of you talked. I subscribed because of your demonstrations on TV. Please talk.

  • @anshoon check out our other channel

    YouTube . com/SpanglerScienceTV

    Enjoy!

  • Where is steve i miss all those videos he did with his partner

  • HOW LONG THOSE IT LAST (: ?

  • you neglected to say that you need warm water for the yeast

  • could of picked a better song?????

  • LOL We Did This In Class Today. I wonder where my teacher got the idea -____-

  • OMG we did that in scienece today it was so cool!!!!!

  • Thanks for the ingredients! i have been wondering how you did it for a while.

So what you guys gonna be for Halloween?

  • 0:52 SCIENCE!

  • im gonna make mine with a sick face and green foam go it looks like its throwing up!!

  • cool

  • oh and it's happening by the peroxide giving away it's Oxygen. The process is speed up with the enzyme from the yeast and the soap helps to capture the released gas into a foam... The color was just for fun....

    prize??

  • um.... the 20V peroxide you showed is not 12%.. Some viewers might get confused ya know...

  • the yeast acts as a catalyst, decomposing the hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen and since there's soap it makes foam

  • The reason it works is because the H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) decomposes in this chemical equation. 2(H2O2) --> H2O + O2 the oxygen gas released then makes bubbles with the dish soap.

  • Anyone else notice that it spells out "Science" when they tell you to leave a comment below if you just pick out the white letters. XD

  • nice

  • You guys remind me of the old HouseHoldHackers before they became shit.

  • i love how he starts with the safety glasses

  • i wuv it!

  • i like how you perfectly poured everything.

  • my chem class did this except the acid was more concentrated and it basically blew up on my friend. he had acid burns all over his arms

  • mouth lea

  • i can do that without pumpkin

  • exothermic reaction

  • Lesson to be learned? Yeast is a bacteria and peroxide foams when it comes into contact with bacteria. The food coloring and dish liquid were for dramatics. Right?

  • I learned absolutely nothing from this video. thanks science.

  • How long does it last

  • number 2

  • this happened to 32 people on halloween

  • Can't you make it spurt out.... like twice a second???

  • Very nice! Cool effect and fun science! Come get some Catspit~! ☠

  • raaaabiiiieeeeesss!!!!

  • awwwww help i put to much

  • thats awesome dude

  • @igsey Well, it kind of did. It's a bit blue, isnt it? I think you have to add a lot of food coloring if you want to see more of the color.

  • K but afterwards is it safe enough to eat lol

  • cool

  • cool:)

  • With chemical reactions reacting to the chemicals.

  • Thats cool

  • poor pumpkin =(

  • lol wut?

  • Catalase and H2O2 make warm mess~

  • instead of using hydrogen peroxide could i use baking powder?

  • I have like none of these items-.-

  • Just an all around impressive Corporation !

    See you soon

  • 12% hydrogen peroxide?!

  • Ive got the same shirt as you

  • Dude ur awesome!! U make me love science!! Can u pleez reply my comment?!! It would be awesome!!!

    -Sarah

  • @sosa9041 hi Sarah, thanks for watching!

  • @Stevespanglerscience YOUR THE BEST I LOVE YOUR VID AND SCIENCE IS THE BEST Anthony :D plz answer

  • ELEPHANT TOOTHPASTE!!!!!

  • wow nice job man !

  • wow nice job man ! and happy halloween for all !

  • wow nice job man ! and happy halloween for all! ;D

  • unbelievable

  • He put the lid on fast as hell lol.

  • I like the music.

  • I have that shirt.

  • Does this have anything to do with earth sceince if not life or what?

  • AWSOME

  • this music makes me feel...tingly inside. Man that's not right I'm a dude!

  • Reminds me of that movie "The Stuff"

And I haven't seen it in like 20 years.

  • santa pumkins

  • If you were able to make the food coloring work then you could make a drunk pumpkin for Halloween.

  • What if your girlfriend has a yeast infection? Can you use that in place of the dry yeast packet?

  • it work by where yeast react with hydrogen peroxide forming carbon dioxide in the dish soup, thus forming bubbles and foam, the food coloring make the foam slightly greenish like the color of oozing , it would be better if you can put some green LED to maake it glow .

  • dude thats hair poroxide, for bleaching hair

  • Cool

  • what causes the reaction in those products?

  • OH GOD MY WIFE!!!! THIS WAS A BAD IDEA!!!!

  • nice!

  • Cool!

    I think I'll try it ;)

  • look like hungry pumpkin :D

  • hhahahahaahaha i love how fast you put the cover back on. kills me. so funny

  • oooooooooooo, 0_o, Kool.

  • This is caused by the breaking down of the hydrogen peroxide, which is reactive to yeast creating oxygen bubbles, and the detergent is trapping the oxygen and making lots of bubbles.

  • Wouldn't baking soda and vinegar so the exact same thing?

  • The hydrogen peroxide, water, and yeast work to produce hydrogen gas and this gas plus the soap leads to foam, which is just a bunch of bubbles.

  • Everyone knows where to get 12% hydrogen peroxide right?

  • or you could use whip cream :)

  • this was WOW!

  • I recommend 30%-60% hydrogen peroxide. The stuff that you buy at the store is usually only 3%.

  • that was very anti climactic

  • If I drink the foam will ppl think I' weird?

  • EPIC FOAMING PUMPKIN! lol

  • YOU SYMBOLIZE HOPE

  • My pumpkin exploded.

    Was that suppose to happen?

  • the Video starts to get bad at 1:04... (it ends)

  • That's so cool!!

  • HAHA MY SCIENCE CLASS IN 6TH GRADE DID THIS CHEMICAL REACTION LAB AND EVERYONE GOT TO MAKE THEIR OWN HUNK OF THAT HARD STUFF AND A KID SOMEHOW ATE SOME AND WENT TO THE HOSPITAL TO GET HIS STOMACH PUMPED.

    THE END :)

  • cool video i will try to do for this halloween

  • My only issue with this, is that the reaction is exothermic.

  • cool vid

  • why would i want to make my pumpkin do that?

  • i love that music , its so cool to just listen to...

  • This is not science...pleeeeease.

  • now quadruple all the ingredients and will have some real fun

  • Do you live in Ohio??

  • And how is this practical?

  • I will try this XD

  • Kroger FTW!

  • Why 12%?

  • it should b foam right?

  • This was cute ^^

  • Or just fill the pumpkin up with shaving cream

  • Total fail instead of put the water with yeast in the oher cup he just spilled most of it in the pumpkin

  • @12dejahsolovely and your "Oozing Pumpkin - Sick Science!" video, is where? That's what I though. Bye now

  • @12dejahsolovely How was it a fail? It still worked great. Stop trolling.

  • Cool!! I must try this! (:

  • Add a higher percentage of peroxide and warm water1 for a better reaction

  • can u touch it?

  • its an Epileptic pumpkin!

  • @sairak5 ...Dude i'm epileptic and i've NEVER foamed and all the epileptics in my treatment group don't, and if we did you'd be making fun of a group of people, so why would you even say something like that? were you just so nonconformist (and insensitive) that you couldn't say that it was a rabid pumpkin?

  • lol

  • I may be wrong but this is what I can scientifically come up with: It happens because yeast releases carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide reacts with the H2O2 to make it burst out, but instead it oozes due to the soap. For a stronger reaction, get Potassium Iodide and use 30% H2O2, but for this I recommend much caution because the 30% H2O2 can be a little painful on the skin.

  • Haha this is great! I really want to try it~

    :D

  • My science teacher did this in class yesterday

  • seems like a baking soda volcano in a pumpkin.

  • use a higher level of hydrogen peroxide like maybe 30%

  • Love this project, so easy and fun!

  • wouldnt it be the same with plain foam?

  • wtf? Just use foam -.-"

  • @smeagol102 The point of these videos/experiments is to learn something. About science. "JUST USE FOAM HERP DERP!" You clearly don't appreciate the science behind such things. Please leave.

  • CHEMICAL RECATION is what happens my friend

  • MORE NEWS VIDEOS MAAAN!

  • @BagboyTim check out

    YouTube . com/SpanglerScienceTV

That's where all of Steve's TV segments are!

  • @Stevespanglerscience OH MY GOSH! THANK YOU!!!!

  • @Stevespanglerscience That packet was from Kroger I thought they only had those in GA

  • its a good tip crabdeecrab

  • @BagboyTim LOL XD!

  • whats Steve's tv clip channel i heard he has one of those

  • @TheVidotube check out

    YouTube . com/SpanglerScienceTV

That's where all of Steve's TV segments are!

  • Mommy!

  • i have no idea how this works, but what if you had a FULL big cup of that stuff????

  • 30% hydrogen peroxide would be more exciting ^^

  • The yeast acts as a catalyst and speeds up the decomposition of the Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2). This causes the hydrogen peroxide to change rapidly into Water and Oxygen. The oxygen which is released then bubbles, and due to the soap, created the bubbles you get here.

  • Zombie Pumpkin!!! Run for your lives!!!!!!!!

  • whut?

  • The food colouring made no difference. Maybe red would work better?

  • @igsey

My guess is that any colouring would be bleached by the peroxide.

  • @igsey it made a slight difference just use more of it

  • yay

  • i didnt know pumpkins can have rabies....

  • WoW!!

  • pumpkins with rabies

  • Obviously it's because you secretly infected the pumpkin with rabies minutes prior to the video. Duh.

  • the hydrogen peroxide reacts with the yeast to produce oxygen and the oxygen bubbles which makes the soap foam
