A lot of people don't want to know the harsh realities of self defence. They want to surround themselves in the security blanket of special techniques.I agree with astraininja .It is middle age fat guys who try to convince skinny wimps that fighting is an art where you can overcome anyone with the death touch.I can't remember who wrote the book DOGS DON'T KNOW KUNG FU but it just about sums it up.
Exaggeration of pressure point effectiveness much ?
it requires a lot of force, unless you held his Corrotted arterie down long enough for him to have restricted blood flow, othewise you wouldn't go to sleep you would just get dizzy / stumble
@RyanNewell122 True the title is misleading but have some common sense dude, this is a class for teaching and the instructor can't just go around knocking his students out left and right.
@TyVoltage88 Thats the biggest load of crap i have ever heard. If this is so effective and i know its not because i have had it done to me someone would use it in MMA .Put a video on here of an expert in these methods fighting a BJJ expert and lets see him pressure point him to a KO.Won't happen.
@Thensolomonsaid In the tournament I was in I was so nervous that all I could think about was the person in front of me. I doubt that you've ever fought in a sanctioned match if you think MMA fighters are thinking.
Nothing beats the Finger Lock K.O. you have to search it on youtube. PS Karate Finger Lock K.O. if you thought this one was funny you need to see the dreaded finger lock. To think I wasted all that time in the gym when all I need to learn was the Finger Lock K.O.
I saw some guy from the army to a little chop to his friend neck and his entire body just seized up and he fell to the ground. But he wasn't unconscious
He wasn't trying to knock him out... Its an example of the technique, not an actual demonstration of its power.
Its like the brachial stun technique, the legs becomes non-existent for a whole 3 or 5 seconds, but the person can still grip and hold on to something if s/he hasn't lost the ability to breathe... But even then its still possible to overcome something like this, but it'd be like swimming up a waterfall.
@NotStoopid0228 Dangers are when the person "knocked out" has a heart condition or possible bloodclots somewhere, this type of knockout lowers the bloodpressure dramaticly which leads to a faint. When having heart problems he could go into cardiac arrest or release a bloodclot or several clots which might lead so obstructed artery or vein... or clot in the brain or clot in the heart. If i recall correctly in any case :-)
This is an attack to the Brachial Plexus Orgin. In the USA this technique (PPCTCurriculum) is taught to law enforcement officers as part of their Use of Force Training. It is: Tactical, medical, and legal acceptable. Police officers know that one thing is to apply the technique in a control environment (like on this video) and another is to apply it while affecting an arrest.
George Dillman does this crap also. He tried his knock out touch to a skeptical new reporter and it didn't work. Dillman's answer was that the newsperson was not a believer. Wow, immagine that. You have to be a believer to get knocked out by his touch. Duh. Can you say idiot.
It does look like a good spot, isn't the jugular vein there? Or something vital? However I am under the impression that when your knocked out, or you are blacked out, you shut down and collapse. Maybe try slapping the ear instead, cup the ear.
Wow... It's hard to believe something like this actually works. Honestly, I am having a hard time understanding why it works and would be willing to experience it from this guy. It would be an eye opener.
Depends what you want to achieve. If you want to be able to kick you don't take Boxing, right? I understand that maybe just learning Tae Kwon Do to win a fight might not be 100% efficient, but if you learnt Tae Kwon Do, Boxing and Grappling it would make you a good fighter, and improve your skills.
The explanation I've heard, and it's sort of a good one, is that when these techniques apparently work, they're NOT "knocking you out" sending you unconscious, they're *stunning* you rendering you unable to proceed or hit back but you still have a degree of consciousness. Any thoughts?
we get taught these in ju jitsu (shorinji kan) but we just get told their dangerous, not what the effects are, I'll be more careful with my training :) Oss
This guy was conscience the whole time. There was no KO because his legs didn't give out. The guy in black just leaned against the master but didn't drop down. People who get KO'ed knees give out...so no KO here!
you have to hit both sides if you want this to work it will make you dizzy because there is no way for energy to escape out of the opposite side of your neck because that sides getting hit too its dangerous yes but useful it will be
I don't know what brand of Taekwondo you guys are practicing, but it's guys like you who ruin the style's reputation. There's no mystic secret to Taekwondo other then hard work and raw horse power. It's a military martial art mixing Karate with Korean and Japanese styles. Do you think the fucking South Korean military dicked around with mystic death touches?
@kinggaryy Not necessarily im studying sport and exercise science and when someone faints or gets knocked out when leaning on something I.E Wall or post they can remain standing.
He didn't strike very hard at all. Either the guy in black is very weak or somehow on the verge of fainting or he's just pretending. Or this is for real... been tapping my neck (seemingly about as hard as he did) but no pain, no dizziness even.
@mapple23 Might help if u knew were on the neck to tap. Try looking at an acupuncture chart and locate gall bladder 20 and then feel for the" hole" their, its in the back of the head directly behind the ear. Also you have to hit both sides at the same time to get the effect. It's easier to show than to explain. It could be used in a stand up grappling engage where your hands are behind the persons head like in Muay Thai and then blast both hands back to front. The inside thumb muscle works best.
@mapple23 you dont need to strike very hard all it is, is your flattenning the artury to your brain i.e making them pas out quickley and easily... works at school.
@mapple23 obsiosly you have to create tension in your hand, making your hand rigid, theres a proper technique to do it, and then just know where to hit him and how
@physcoticweirdo lol true. then they bend over holding them until the pain gets over, but you could be a long way away by then if you kick them hard enough
@physcoticweirdo nah someone has come up behind me running and kicked me in the balls that way and i could take it fairly easily. the only thing it really does is piss you off
@gratonorif well my left ball was barely clipped and i was down on the ground in a second and stayed there for a few minutes.if taken much harder shots than that and have been "fine" but hey sometimes they're down and out forealz
@physcoticweirdo Some guys might like it, also Its actually easy to miss the balls. I use to do Sarcharnoski's hard core Ki where we would accept pain. I let people kick me in the balls and stood staring at them. It hurt but there is a little trick with riding the kick, also alot of times people will miss and kick inside of thigh, your p or your butt. Pressure points do work its a matter of learning where and how to manipulate it. I have experienced them first hand and know for a fact they work.
@kcaj909 the only way you can kill someone is the "death touch", which technicly isnt a touch but a strike at the heart which throws it off beat and thus kills them
@hirodagger I hope you don't seriously believe this is something you can simply choose to do... The chances of hitting the heart in the right point of its cycle to cause sudden arrest are almost negligible. It isn't something that realistically ever happens.
pressure points are not fucking illegal you dumb ass they just dont work! i was teaching a COP once some submission grappling and he tried these things. all they did was annoy me. go learn a real martial art kids.
Typical overweight has been wearing a 'Masters' belt... Pressure Points work just because you smash them on the way to smashing your attacker. I'd like to see these done on a non-compliant opponent!!!!
@slowlearner12 It's an auto shut down right, there's lot's of them in the body and it can't render pretty much any one powerless for quite a while. You just to be pin point accurate or it to work, And that's why not everyone can performe this kind of strike quickly and efficiently.
I'm not against pressure points, but they should be the last thing on the fighter's mind. First - conditioning the fighter. Have these guys are out of shape. Second - learning solid strikes and ground work. Third - learning/practicing solid evasion (bobbing/weaving slipping/slidding blocking/checking etc.). Then playing around with pressure points can't hurt.
First of all: I have heard Kyoshu practitioners (be it Dillman followers or Oyata folks) that pressure points are illegal in UFC. THey are not. As a matter of fact, an Okinawan Karate kyoshu expert fought in the UFC and lost to Remko Pardoe (judo). Shots in back of the head are illegal (elbows, punches, knees, etc.) only in UFC. I'm sure with all the other pressure points (360 or so) Kyoshu people could come up with another deadly combination. Nexk strikes are legal.
UFC 15 Limits on permissible striking areas were introduced. Headbutts, groin strikes, elbow strikes to the back of the neck and head, kicks to a downed opponent, small joint manipulation, pressure point strikes, and hair-pulling became illegal.
Every time I see this, I feel bad for students who are missinformed. After so many years in martial arts, from time to time you see students who think they have some powers (usually in their own schools with their own students and teachers) attempt these techniques on unwilling apponents in other, more realistic gyms. As a result, they wind up hurt. I say, 'learn the pressure points' but then go to a local Muay Thai and Grappling gym.
How is this misinforming people? Strikes to the back of the head and neck are banned in a lot of Cage fighting rules because they are so dangerous. Striking to the back of the head, at the base of the skull, will knock people out.
Rick hits a lot softer than he used to. The first time he hit me I couldn't see for about five minutes and pain was beyond belief.
I use a palm slap version of this on the door in order to get people disorientated and moving in the direction I need. It works.
I trained wit grand master hutton. ANd he was showing this same technique and i said no way dude. YA he used me for demonstration it feels like your being shoked for a quick second and nothing works then poof it comes back and your fine with a lil neck pain
it doesn't really knock you out in some cases. he didn't strike hard enough to knock him out. the two pressure points on your neck will cause you to blackout when they are struck with enough force.
no you can still think. well in my case anyway. YOu just cant see and your limbs feel like they are asleep and all tingly and your neck feals like you just got a zap from a tazer. ive had it done several times to me and the feeling depends on how hard your hit. but it was once used on me full about half strenght in a sparing match and i couldnt defend my self for a few seconds and i got the shit kicked out of me. however if you dont hit the right spot it dosent work it will just hurt.
when someone gets knocked out. there all differerent. for expample. look at ufc. i seen a guy get hit straight in the temple. arms fall to his side then fall over like a giant. his knees didnt buckle. just a big face plant
What the hell?

Can u kill people if you dont revive them when they get knocked out from pressure points?
kcaj909 2 years ago
@kcaj909 the only way you can kill someone is the "death touch", which technicly isnt a touch but a strike at the heart which throws it off beat and thus kills them
dont be stupid and try it
hirodagger 1 year ago
@hirodagger I hope you don't seriously believe this is something you can simply choose to do... The chances of hitting the heart in the right point of its cycle to cause sudden arrest are almost negligible. It isn't something that realistically ever happens.

Typical overweight has been wearing a 'Masters' belt... Pressure Points work just because you smash them on the way to smashing your attacker. I'd like to see these done on a non-compliant opponent!!!!

Yes points work by smashing them, which is the basis of what Rick teaches. However, he doesn't smash them when he's teaching a seminar.

pressure point strikes is like a shock to the nervous system, it shuts it down temporarily
dohboiii 2 years ago
@slowlearner12 It's an auto shut down right, there's lot's of them in the body and it can't render pretty much any one powerless for quite a while. You just to be pin point accurate or it to work, And that's why not everyone can performe this kind of strike quickly and efficiently.
wac3200 1 year ago
I'm not against pressure points, but they should be the last thing on the fighter's mind. First - conditioning the fighter. Have these guys are out of shape. Second - learning solid strikes and ground work. Third - learning/practicing solid evasion (bobbing/weaving slipping/slidding blocking/checking etc.). Then playing around with pressure points can't hurt.

they train to defend themselves NOT to be fighters

MAfanatic 3 years ago
How is this misinforming people? Strikes to the back of the head and neck are banned in a lot of Cage fighting rules because they are so dangerous. Striking to the back of the head, at the base of the skull, will knock people out.
Rick hits a lot softer than he used to. The first time he hit me I couldn't see for about five minutes and pain was beyond belief.
I use a palm slap version of this on the door in order to get people disorientated and moving in the direction I need. It works.

I trained wit grand master hutton. ANd he was showing this same technique and i said no way dude. YA he used me for demonstration it feels like your being shoked for a quick second and nothing works then poof it comes back and your fine with a lil neck pain
youngarmystud 3 years ago
Yeah, it's a stange feeling when it's done lightly but really, really hurts when done hard. It's like a hangover from hell.
practicaltaekwondo 3 years ago
it doesn't really knock you out in some cases. he didn't strike hard enough to knock him out. the two pressure points on your neck will cause you to blackout when they are struck with enough force.

how doese it work doese it jsut shut down ur brain for a bit or dowse it order ur muscles to contract stopping air?
Xelon6k 3 years ago 2
no you can still think. well in my case anyway.
