  • ja it's kinda funny 'cause your'e actually 10 times better than slash...he should be trying to learn your style!!!

  • Only differece is Slash uses a Gibson. Other then that and the fact he is a little darker I cant tell the difference lol

  • @ADPFUCKER idk the last i heard instruments cost money

  • Seeing as this is 9001 times more authentic sounding than Lick Libraries Slash video. You should do other full solo's for other artists. *cough* Joe Satriani *Cough*

  • what scales does slash uses?????????

  • @porravelha Ofcourse he change scales, but he use a lot of pentatonic scales

  • @porravelha Blues Pentatonic, slash is all about the blues! :]

  • @porravelha He don't. He does all by ear.

  • slash is great

  • When you sound awesome, It dont matter what the hell you play!!!!

  • great playin but sonds sooo much better on gibson lp

  • hey what scales did u use?

  • Can you post a tab for this. I am trying to learn this and a tab would be greatly appreciated! Love your videos and site. Keep up the good work.

  • 0:41 - 0:45 COMA

  • ...to hate on the guy for making a profit, he's earned it. I know the Velvet Revolver was his brainchild and were more or less successful because of the names in the band but Slash's Snakepit has some great stuff on it, and the album he just released has some really really good guitar work on it. Check out the song "Nothin To Say" featuring M Shadows. Even the Fergie song on that album has great work in it. I think people are gaga over him because of the image he represents....

  • how to play like slash

step 1: THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP, Be highly overrated

step 2: know the pentatonic scale

    step 3: ?????

    step 4: Profit

step 5: before you bitch at me about how good slash is, i never said he was bad because he isn't, but he is not as good as everyone gives him credit for

  • @Killer9299 technical skill wise I agree, he's not even close to as technically skilled as the Doug Aldrich's or Richie Kotzen's from the 80's scene.....with that being said, he's one of the most melodic players of this era and he's written great, great pieces of music. Not to mention he's a huge inspiration to alot of aspiring guitar players, plus he's made his millions the right way, touring his ass off with Guns N Roses when they were in theyre prime. I dont think it's right to....

  • @Killer9299 your not better then slash lol so stop dissing him =]

  • @Guitarvampy1 i never said i was better than him just that he is overrated

  • lol underrated or overrated it doesn't matter, he has been successful and created lots of good tunes, thats what a musician should do :)

so whoever likes slash should listen to slash, because he rocks!! haha

  • @Guitarvampy1 i don't hate his music, i actually like his music but people put him up to be this ultimate guitar god when he's not

  • @Killer9299 ultimate guitar god has to be hendrix or randy rhoads lol :P

  • @Guitarvampy1 ew hendrix, rhoads, wes montgomery and paul gilbert are gods

  • @Killer9299 your kidding right. . . . RR and Hendrix are Legends

  • @guitarshreder91 I didn't say rhoads was bad, the ew was only directed at hendrix because frankly he was incredibly sloppy and uncreative, but RR, Wes Montgomery, Paul Gilbert, Guthrie Govan, and John Petrucci are absolute gods

  • @Killer9299 hendrix was a bules legend. Paul Gilbert is really good, i like him. what youthink of Alexi Laiho. he can shred,

  • ... slash's style is more dirty ... but great job

  • what kinda pickups did you drop in there?

  • @wallsacc i don't know what the pickups really are but the're kinda like humbuckers (i think)

  • Man thats a sweet sounding Strat.

  • solid lesson, been looking for some slash style licks :) great work!

  • 1:01- 1:04 that was a part of the solo of sweet child o mine right?

  • Any1 noticed his weird pickups?

  • @justino123nl there actually "humbucking" pickups...they are called "rails" and allows you to keep the "strat look" and get the sound most desired for heavy metal type playing.

  • wow slash on a strat i thought OH NO:O

    BUT YOU DID IT:D

very nice man i heard like 6 songs in the intro:P

    thank you very much

  • u need a les paul for the perfect slash sound

  • there shouldnt even be a video on this, haha it should just be a big neon sign saying BLUES!!!

  • do you mind me asking what sort of scale you were using for this solo?

  • @SamthePetrolhead Minor Pentatonic; Slash's favourite for soloes.

  • @SamthePetrolhead he tells you.......em em pent e blues

  • thanks this really helped

  • Thanks a lot for the lesson!! What are those pickups?

  • impressive !

  • hey man nice lesson, do you mind turnin off the delay when your explaining stuff, it can get kind of distracting...

  • Great job, thanks. Here's a little tip for improving the video quality: In the main window the fretboard's kinda overexposed and difficult to see. You can fix this by either lowering the exposure in the camera, or if that's not possible, by using a somewhat less dark background. Also, try moving the light source around, so that there are no reflections from the fretboard. Maybe place it somewhat higher.

  • @moom1000 Hey thanks for the tips. This is one of my earlier videos and it took me a little while to learn how to get it right. My newer videos are much better. :) Thanks again!! Carl..

  • whas scale's U used?

  • Also if you dont mind me asking what kind of Amp and delay pedal (pedals) are you using?

  • @ewd31989 Hey thanks for watching. I can't remember the setting that I was using at the time I shot this video, but I can tell you that I record all of my lesson videos straight through a Line 6 POD X3 Live. It's a pretty good sounding pedal board. :)

  • Is there anyway you can maybe do soloing style and technique on Carlos Santana or Kurt Cobain ?

  • @ewd31989

    kurt cobabin. soloing. lol!

  • Comment removed

  • @Hughespipe O im sorry were you not aware Kurt Cobain played guitar?

  • @ewd31989

kirt cobain practically single handedly managed to kill off hard rock and the art of the guitar solo in popular music

  • @Hughespipe "Practically killed off hard rock" ? Well if hard rock to you is a group of pansies running around with tights in clown paint and Teased hair than thank god he killed that bullshit off . You must be a Bon jovi fan lol (no offense). Just food for thought on your comment about Kurt killing the art of the solo in popular music

Well it just so happens one of the most memorable and reconcilable SOLOS of all time was created by the "SOLO KILLER" himself . I think you know exactly which 1

  • @ewd31989 well kurt cobain is god but of which solo the hell are you talking aboutxD

like kurt was not the solo guy he was just epic in the things he did(playing unlogic very cool chord sequences, singing and melting faces of the first rows of his crowd)

    cheers

  • @ewd31989 kurt cobain does solos??

  • I think you hit slash style and technique right on the head. Great job

  • @ewd31989 Thanks a lot for watching and commenting!!

  • Great work man very helpful :D

  • pickupss ???

  • THanks a lot for this tutorial. I just have one question. One really big question actually. I see that you change keys within this solo. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that when soloing, one had to stay in one key (the key of the song.) So if the song is in E Minor for example, (perhaps the chord changes are E, A and C) you should only really play notes from the eminor scale. Would you really be allowed to play notes from the A and C scale as well?

  • @leahsimur You can change scales with each chord too. Jazz musicians do it a lot. Slash does it in the Mr Brownstone solo when the the chords go G - C - D

  • damn man i wanna be able to do it that easily, im a decent guitarist, like i can play solos and stuff, but i cant solo out of the top of my head, its so hard to do! do you have any advice?

  • @Diehard804 You've heard this piece of advice before & you're not going to like it - Practice. There's no other way.

  • ahah you're better than slash xDD

  • You deserve 10 stars, my friend! Excellent lessons.

  • @AllBluesCat Thanks A Bunch!! Carl..

  • guitarlesson 365 rock!!!I like so much your videos!

  • Hey, u look really cool.. I've watch few lessons before from others site but i believe urs r the best. Another thing, u really helpful & response to any comments. Great work. Do you have ur own band? (i mean popular band)... Tq2..

  • @malmsteen79ibanez Hey thanks a lot for the nice comment. Unfortunately, I am not in an original band but I do write my own music which I will be putting on Youtube eventually. I am however in a Los Angeles area rock cover band and that is a lot of fun. Cheers!! Carl..

  • You should have guitar pro tabs to go along with it, wouldn't hurt hehe :D

  • hey, really good and i have been looking for new pick ups and the ones on your guitar are really cool. what are they?

  • @conor1423 Hey thanks for watching! In this video my pickups are a Dimarzio Fast Track 2, Pro Track and Chopper. Its some really nice stuff!! Thanks Again!! Carl..

  • holy shit dude your good :)

  • Hey, (your awesome by the way) do you have a file for the track you were playing over?

  • @Ventalei Hey thanks a lot for watching my lessons. Yes, I do have the file for the track I was playing over. You can get it at my main site (the link is in the sidebar of my channel). After you get to the site, just click on the Lesson Archive link at the top of the page and then go to the Advanced Guitar Lessons Archive. There you will find the Slash style lessons along with the backing track free download.

Thanks again for taking the time to watch my videos. Hope to hear from you soon! Carl..

  • Great lesson on his style. I think Slash wont use this amount of delay tho, and the fast lick around 1 min isn't timed right. Besides that great lesson

  • how did you make the backing track?

  • Hey thanks for watching, I just used some Logic Pro loops for the drums and recorded everything else direct through my POD X3 Live. Cheers!! Carl..

  • hey man, great lesson, you rock

  • u still kick ass buddy :)

  • Thx a lot man!! :) Cheers.. Carl..

  • WOW! Thats Amazing Soloing

  • Thanks a lot, I am going to have more of this type of style series coming soon. Just trying to figure out which players to cover. :)

  • really you oughtta try covering kurt kobain i think thats how you spell his name

  • @etnies0110 Cobain

  • @guitardedboy Yea him

  • sorry not trying to knitpick but that spotlight on your hand at the 3rd fret area is way to bright sometimes.

Then quality is so good I don't think you need that extra light actually makes it hard to see certain notes your hitting from 4th fret down to nut. Again great work

  • Yeah I agree, I fixed it in part two. I can't see what the camera sees until it's all over, but I think I got it worked out. Sorry bout that..

  • @GuitarLessons365 you are good playing but you dont know hot to pick.... its up and down not down... but great vid

  • nailed the slash type phrasing, Great work!!!

  • Thanks, part two is on its way. Thanks for watching!!
