I always felt the monsters in this game are completely held-back. What I mean is, they could kill you in seconds. The Lagiacrus could pin you down and rip you in half and the Rathian can pick you up and drop you 100 feet above the air. I still love the game though...

And If this game was realistic you could chop a monster in halve with one slice, just as much as the monster could rip you in half easily. Then the only question would be who can hit faster, man or beast? I think this would spoil the game.

The guide fails to emphasize the opportunities presented in every attack. "Running away frantically" and missing the opportunity to score a free hit or two will only prolong the fight, as well as piss off any better players you may be hunting with online. Every attack has an opening of some sort which can be taken advantage of, though the movements required may vary depending on the player's weapon type.

@bigbananaman1000 if you mean the lagicrus just think of him as the royal ludroth because its attack pattern is similar but just has a longer range. if you mean rathian(although it's a she) then just look out for the arieal attacks, have antidotes and DUNG BOMBS for the pin attack and you should be good. and they aren't as hard when you put your mind to it because there are indeed a lot of harder monsters*shudders* gigginox.

@Renato40404 there really is no easy way. the best way is to cut off her tail and capture her. if you cant beat her effectively offline do it online with other people, but if you can handle her go offline because it can be difficult to get a decent team willing to do the same monster as you. good luck

there is another way to escape being pinned down...if you quick scroll through items the only one you can use when pinned is a dung bomb. use it and itll be thrown at rathian and she backs away immediately

In my first encounter I used the Hypnos knife(SNS) and Large bombs. I simply put her to sleep then blow her face. After a couple of hunts I used GS with green sharpness to make things easier. I'm also equipped with +10 auto-guard charm for more defence

Lagiacrus owned the poo outa me. I got his Water pattern down was at the last 3minutes and abandoned he freaking limped away twice so I said forget it. He's a difficult Hunt..
