That was the most warm hawaiian tuning I ever heard, that's why I asked, I'm on standart Open G tuning, is similar to this by I knew there was something else going on the lowest strings in this vid hehe
Wow, that whole medley was most enjoyable, but the last tune was HOT! I think Mr. Phillips took his reso off his lap at the very end b/c it was about to burst into flames... Thank you!
@metalheim You can take any high quality Gibson acoustic, remove the strings and saw a big hole into the top, drop in a big cookie Jar screw it down (or glue it if you don't want to destroy the finish on the back side) and viola! You have a home made Dobro.
Thanks for contributing to Hawaiian music through lap steel and/or dobro. I very much enjoyed your first instructional guide on Hawaiian tunes on the steel. Nice to see you really stretchin out and demonstrating speed, accuracy and lyricality (is that a word?) ha, ha. Mahalo Nui Loa again, 5 stars brah! Johnny Pal of Mango DaVille
10 or 15 years ago ,when I bought your Dobro book,I asked you who was the " Archduke of the Dobro" on your demo record. well ,I still don`t know....or do I ?...LOL
PS Iv`e got a good version of that " Tickling the Strings" by King Benny Nawahi.

Check Phillips's books out too. They're as good and enjoyable as his playing his.
