  • I've been considering becoming a sister, but I'm not sure if that's what I'm called to do. I guess I'll just continue to pray and ask God what he wants of me.

  • Jesus loves all

  • excelent message! ive been thinking of becomeing a carmelite. but I dont know if thats what God wants of me..

many thanks for uploading this video. :)

  • @TehCavern God Bless You as you discern if you hear God's call. Have you contacted a community?

  • @GoodShepherdSisters thank you :) yes i have! I visit a carmelite monastery, in fact, i resently went to a retreat there.

  • what is the purpose on nun?

  • @san42c02y no purpose

  • You people EVIL and NUPS

  • The sisters were very holy, now they seem to be very opposed to Church teaching, dissenting, self-seeking. They seem to be more interested in saving trees than souls these days. Very sad.

  • @mrsgarrettrocks Human beings cannot exist without trees...

  • If someone is looking for a traditional Order...think about the Chartusian order: it's great

  • Catholic dads have a responsibility to encourage their daughters to think and pray about the Lord's potential calling to be a nun. To remain silent distances an opportunity for her to feel supported from one of the most influential people in her life.

  • I always wanted to become a nun and grew up to be just like mother Mary ever since I was little. But I told my parents I wanted to become a nun ever since I was little even to recently they wouldn't listen to me and think its foolish of me.

  • I've pondered this for awhile but I have so many issues to work out and I have to be responsible. I have loved ones that need me and I'm not sure its fair to them...so much to consider...I'm not even Catholic. I was thinking about converting to Orthodoxy and then becoming an Orthodox nun. This is a huge step either way.

  • I think dear Sisters that there seems to be more holiness around us when we are amidst the sisters who wear the traditional habits with veil everything. - Menino from Goa

  • I work as an exorcist priest assistant.

I feel like jesus do not let me be with any man.

But I love surfing, the beach etc...

Is there any nun that has freedom?

  • Feeling depressed ? become a nun !

  • my names sarah therese thomas could you help me.

  • id really like to be a nun.

  • @xoobaybtee Me too.

  • I have found nuns to be nice people.

  • I thought about becoming a nun -- but modern habits look little better than a waitress' uniform. The mystique and majesty has been RIPPED from the modern church.

  • @skanemermaid Within this community, there are sisters who dress in the traditional habit, and others who dress as lay people. The outside is not important. It is the good work they do and their love of the Lord.

  • @GoodShepherdSisters

True enough, but there's a reason why the pope wears

gold, and garbage bags don't make for mass attire.

    Button it up!

  • @GoodShepherdSisters so suddenly the marriage to Chirst is inmaterial? Only by Good Works?

  • @GoodShepherdSisters: If the outside doesn't matter, why is there an age limit on becoming a nun? If you are a certain age and older, you aren't allowed to be one. I never understood that.

  • @GoodShepherdSisters

It seems like they spend most of their time at the beach, looking pensive . . . at least according to this video.

  • The advert was a bit random - It looked like a place I used to live in Scotland...

but I think it's in America because of the voice? mmmmm - yes, nuns are random. A few of my friends have become 'religious' or different sorts... having a shared house for people who are interested might be a good idea...?

  • @GoodShepherdSisters mot the works will ever make a human being righteous in gods eyes but if the 'heart is with god' that will determine

  • @skanemermaid Other communities wear beatiful habits. Look at the related videos to the left. I know -- if I become a nun, I'm not going to join an order that wears a waitress uniform. The mystique and majesty of the Church still exists, and although it isn't quite mainstream, it's thriving... traditional parishes, seminaries, and religious communites are thriving. It's the ones that have abandoned the past that are dying.

  • @skanemermaid There are lots of communites that still wear beautiful habits. Look at the related videos on the right. Those communites are the ones that are thriving, because people aren't attracted to corny mush. Just like traditional parishes thrive with young families, whereas more libral ones are mostly attended by older people... the mystique and majesty of the church is alive, you just have to look to find it.

  • What this commercial says to me is that people who are feeling depressed should consider vocations in the Church. I do not feel this is a very healthy way to encourage discernment.

  • Yeah, young women should be going to college, finding love and getting married, having kids, enjoying life.

Instead of rejecting the things of this world, appreciate its beauty and improve it.

  • :)

    God bless!

  • why is it that the best of christian women cannot have children? Why is the job left up to the lesser devoted?

  • Nuns aren't "the best of Christian women." They have a different vocation than women who feel called to marriage and motherhood.

  • so would you say that the best of christian women would be the ones with nun characteristics like purity and modesty in the way they dress up who CAN have children and a husband? It seems like you cant have both in Christianity which is a pity.

  • Whay nuns have not family is written in 1 Cor 7,32-35.

  • but that is what bothers me. Thats they cannot have a family because they are devoted to God. Why cant they have both? After all didnt the Lord warn us about setting up unneccesary restraints and pains in our lives?

  • Look. There you have three chances in your life:

    1. You can have a family and in that way serve God,

    2. you can go to the abby and become nun

    3. you can stay sigel

In all ways you can live for God, but God want to serve Him on one of this ways an He tell you what hw wants. But it is your decison. :)

And sorry for my English! I know it's not wery good.

    God bless!

  • Okay I think I will have a husband and a family and serve God just as a nun would. I will cover my hair, cover my body and serve the lord and teach my children to do the same.

    God bless

  • becoming a religious sister or nun is an offer to the world. You are giving your very self over to him to become his bride. you would not do it if you did not feel called and were not in love with the divine.God calls in all different kinds of way. Your community becomes your family. Jesus is your spouse. I am discerning a religious vocation right now. You never know when God will come knocking. God bless

  • i dont understand why someone would want to marry their God. The Lord has not placed this burden on women. If a human created a chair or a pencil or a robot or a car, it all functions to serve him in some way. In a similar fashion God has created the Universe and Man within it to serve him just as we create things to serve us. Never in a million years will we desire to be a spouse to anything that we have created.

  • God created us with a soul. we cannot as humans create anything with a soul. Materials do not serve God, we serve God. I desire to be a spouse to Jesus. If this is where he wants me, he deserves what he wants from me. I will be serving him in some kind of way. He would not come knocking if it were not his desire. I know it is hard to understand it, I do not even understand it. I do not think religious will ever understand it. we are imperfect. God Bless

  • of course they do have a family, becoming a nun does not make you have children but have a whole lot of family bestowed on them through God. The People are their familes.

  • @hijabiflower

Oh, and adding to my last message....

The Consecrated Virgins thing was not me trying to answer the marriage issue, since it's obvious Virgins would not have children. XP

I was just providing an example that if you look for it I'm sure there's something for your calling. I just don't know any others to fit particularly so I was using Consecrated Virgins as an example of the variety.

I'm sorry I wasn't very clear there. LOL XD

  • Yes you can have both and I do :) Peace!

  • I have had the pleasure of meeting and knowing the people behind this project and can tell you first hand the depth of their sincerity in this effort. Splendid video and much success to all involved.

  • A wonderful video.

  • Your response helps us to know that we are doing the right thing in getting our message out there. Many thanks!

  • inspiring

  • Thank you. Nice of you to take the time to reinforce our mission.

  • Thank you, Amy, for making this possible.

  • inspiring video for those with decisions to make
