  • Nitrate smoke. Don't breath this.

  • but can this film explode like others claim?

  • Yes it burns! But will it blend? Nitrate smoke. Don't breath this!

All kidding aside this type of film is very dangerous and just nasty once it's on fire. I'm thankful that the film I have (regular 8mm from the 60's) was shot on safety film (as a consumer product and late date it would be safety film regardless). As for burning history, not really. I'm sure this trailer was a copy.

  • If this video hasn't convinced you of the danger of nitrate film, consider this:

You cannot put out a nitrate fire by conventional means because when nitrate breaks down under those conditions, it produces enough of both fuel and oxidizer to sustain the fire.

  • after seeing that, i should fix my rare film vaults of nitrate films of classics and unknown film. i wish i had a copy of london after midnight.

  • get another hobby and yea, dont breathe this "smoke" in

  • why would you burn a trailer like that? that's a piece of history that many people like me would love to have.

  • @RecordGuy3434 I bet you they copied it over to safety film before burning it. Having that stuff just sitting around isn't good...

  • Wonderful demonstration ! I have intended to burn a Nitrate clip film on testing mode to witness how danger to me and my environmential area, but this video presentation has saved my day and time ! Thanks !!

  • useful, thanks
