  • Best part of this video? Clean transition of overdub to the actual live performance sound. I love hearing Brian groovin' on his classic white Fender P Bass. Fucking badass!! Play that bass Brian, play it!!!

  • I am a 53 yr old Rhonda...and loving it. I use to tell y girls, they wrote this song for me!! LOL

  • great song

  • Al Jardine <3

  • weird stereo effect

  • dats my moms name ha:) help me mom

  • 0:36 Thoes are some tight pants lol

  • Why didn't Al sing more? I love his voice

  • how can anyone possibly dislike this?

  • FUCK MODERN MUSIC, I WANNA LIVE IN THE 60S!! :(

  • short circuit 2

  • here are the beach boys as I will always remember them, stripe shirts, light pants, and white shoes. I love it!

  • @TheBabyboomkidof53 Not to mention short sleeves and a button-down collar.

  • Bryan's wife was named Rhonda He wrote thi one too

  • @LeoNurse2007 Sorry, His wife at the time was Marilyn. If you do some research you'll see that Brian wrote most of the music while the gentleman he collaborated with typically wrote the lyrics... Not so much these early songs, but certainly later... Pet Sounds for instance.

  • does anybody know, on which guitar model carl was playing in the video?

    -dave

  • One of the few hits that Al Jardine sang lead on. I don't remember the exact year, it was between 89-91. I was working for a jewelry store at South Park Mall in Charlotte, NC and saw Al Jardine walk by. I knew that the Beach boys were in town for a concert, so I ran out of the store and chased him down and asked him for an autograph. He was kind enough to give me one. Thank you Al!

  • As you can see, the Beach Boys actually took the time to button up and tuck in their shirts.

  • Hep me Rhonda Yeah!!! at the Edmonton Community Services gay men's action committee of the Alberta Response Model.... How? Fake Male abuse....

  • COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • Brian, I'm Rhonda....and I'm ready to help you get her out of your heart!!

  • In 1965 when I was 17, my parents bought a "Huge" Console Stereo. I bought the "45" (this record) played it over & over until Mrs Brainard our neighbor, across the street & 4 houses down called our home & threatened me to stop playing

"Help Me Ronda" or she would come over & "brake" the record on my head!!

Dammmmmmmm, what a stereo that was! RIP Mrs Brainard

  • @47yesican Oh man, we had a console stereo also, and I would lay in front of it playing the 45's over and over again. I was only 12-13, but I remember it well. I absolutely adored a radio station LP that had LInda Ronstadt's Beat of a Different Drum 1967. That is one of my top 10 favorite songs.

  • @MyPaulHenry Yea, you had to have a "Console Stereo" with the Tweeters & Woofers to drive

your Neighbors Crazy!! I had Ronstadts "Different Drum" too.

Now, How can I Go Back to those Days? I'd Leave in a Second!

  • It doesn't matter how they appear, their voices sound better than they could ever look.

  • Hey MyPaulHenry, I had the Jan and Dean meet Batman LP

  • @semitrailer27 I am jealous. I had "acquired" many of my older brother's albums (which included Jan and Dean albums) once he went to Vietnam, and I had bought some other music. I also had other interests that required money. So I just did not have enought room to keep them, so I threw them away, years after my brother returned along with my 4 and 8 tracks and cassettes. My brother was into other music by then, so he didn't care. But I sure care again thanks to YouTube and guys like you.

  • Well, Alan could not really sing at that time, anyway Brian gave this No 1 song to him.

Later, Alan learned to sing well, but not here, alas....

  • Really the greatest Do-Wop group of all time without being Do-Wop !!!

  • never knew Al sang this one

  • @semitrailer27 Neither did I until a few weeks ago. Go YouTube, which regenerates our interest in these classic musical talents. It was the flip side to my favorite song at that instant in time, Barbara Ann, but I kept playing it too. It was not until years later that I learned it was popular. So much went into the surfer sound. Let's not forget Jan and Dean either.

  • Haha, great song ! :) I just love to see how much fun Al has with the others :)

  • @HabboDepaul Great song, but why did Brian give this one to Alan?? I could never understand this.

  • This it is a very good VERSION Mike Love Rules aaaaaaaaaaa.

  • Sorry I meant I think this is in 1964 becuase brian left the band in december 64' and mike love had a beard in 1965

  • Actually I belive this is in 1965 becuase Brian Wilson left the band in December of 1964 and in 1965 mike love had a beard but I might be wrong

  • theyre so good live, there is almost no point going to a concert anymore

  • @999duhast That much is obvious. Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys created a whole new sound too. That I prefer The Beach Boys any day to the Beatles in no way lessens Lennon and McCarthy's contribution. But the Beach Boys sound and harmony have always been my personal preference. This song may not be original to you but then again the yellow Submarine does nothing for me either.

  • People make a lot of fuss over the Beatles. Yes it's true they were a group that defined the 60's. But for me personally, I've always preferred the harmony and rhythm of the Beach Boys. I don't think they've dated at all.

  • @mikser Your right the surfers use camco drums

  • al jardine was always my favourite!

  • great live vocals led by Al! They looked like they were really enjoying themselves.

  • u say johones brothers i say beach boys

  • Poor Brian he always thought he walked in the shadow of the Beatles. Beach Boys were a super group. He just didn't think they were as good as they were....

  • saw them 2 days ago in concert :') wow. i feel so honored<3

  • Wow - did not know that Al Jardine sang this song!

  • if carl lived..al would still be in the band..how did mike love get to throw al out? crazy

  • @ChiroQuacker Al still plays occasionally with Brian when Brian does his solo shows.

  • What I like the best about these early performances is Brian is enjoying playing with the band. This was before being married to Marilyn and too many drugs ruined him. Such an incredibly gifted bunch of boys.

  • @Eeohippus He married December 7, 1964

  • @Eeohippus : Marilyn had nothing to do with his demise. And might I add that he wrote his best songs after doing acid. Crawl back into your self righteous asshole, sphincter boy.

  • @Eeohippus Brian was "ruined" by schizophrenia. The drugs were simply a way of dealing with his pain—schizophrenia was not something that many people understood at the time. It didn't so much ruin him as it robbed him of a few decades of creativity he could share with us.

  • LOVE the song, HATE their outfits

  • This song reminds me of ALF.

  • HI MY NAME IS RHONDA, these guys had the best harmonies in the world! this song cant be done the same by anybody else in the world except @davidgeftakys if he overlaps his own harmonies & his instruments, but he is so talented he can do it! I was born in 1959 so I grew up on this song!

  • @rkabernathy i love you rhonda

  • HI MY NAME IS RHONDA, these guys had the best harmonies in the world! this song cant be done the same by anybody else in the world except @davidgeftakys if he overlaps his own harmonies & his instruments, but he is so talented he can do it!

  • If you think about it, the Beach Boys can't sing THAT good. But - that doesn't matter one bit. There's a bunch of guys wanting to sing their heart out and have a good time! That's what make it sound good. I sure do wish that I lived back in the 60's or 70's.

  • VIVE LES SIXTIES !! rebel68

  • I think Al's cute! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

I do agree that artists today focus far too much on image, though. I didn't know what any of these guys looked like when I fell in love with their music due a wonderful little thing called the radio.

  • Somehow the songs they sang/their stage presence/the elements of the song all

made them THE BEACH BOYS. They were blessed/meant to be. And their music was uplifting and fun. Love that. Wayne

  • I play Wagner for my cats

  • Learn to play an instrument, Mike Love, you fucktard.

  • @tristianity4u He palyed sax on Shut Down

  • Good stuff. Why not shower and dress nice, and just play music, without needing to hang your dick out or show your plastic boobs in order to make up for the shitty music you are playing and the fact that you have no musical ability. Better than the grungy, just crawled out of the gutter, dope head look that's popular now. And what about those stupid meth fueled rap tunes, where they can't say three words without mother fucker thrown in. That is real talent, huh guys? For the brain dead.

  • @sqweezel Ha ha ha ha!!!! P.S The beach boys were off their faces on drugs.

  • @MrBillyBunks In 1965? Possibly. If so at least the music is coherent and joyful. But strange as it sounds in 2011, some people don't need drugs to be happy.

  • @sqweezel This was a time when music was music. If you watch the video, you will see that the shirts are buttoned up and tucked in.

  • @bheffley2002 oh fuck off

  • @bheffley2002 : How one dresses has nothing to do with talent. The Beach Boys were great. I do agree that the world would be better off with music like this. So called talent like Britney Spears, Justin Bieber make me want to puke.

  • They were good looking when they were clean cut and fit, but what the heck! Referee shirts and girly pants? WHYY???

  • "The Beach Boys prove you don't need to be good looking to be an entertainer, just look at Al"

"Dennis Wilson is soooo good looking"

The two top rated comments. Oh the irony.

  • @Canaveral305 hahah

  • @Canaveral305 Welcome to the world of the music entertainment business and the thought process of girls on the music entertainment business all on one page lol.

  • @Canaveral305 Look at Michael Jackson.

  • @Canaveral305 Nobody that hot commits suicide. I see him in Kenny Loggins.

  • @Canaveral305 theye are good looking everyone was in the sixties im elevan and a guy and im saying this

  • @jonathanrector123 Oh, yeah Everyone in the '60s looked hot. The two who used to drive me crazy were Minnie Pearl and Moms Mabley!

  • DENIS AND ANDY MAGIQUE SIXTIES !!! thanks'

  • brian wilson has a sexy ass in this vid. wat a hotty! ;p

  • Carrie,Samantha and Charlotte...Help Miranda!

  • i remember when i was growing up listening to this song..so good back in the good old days..to bad i was in my dads ballsack at the time :(

  • Carl & Brian strike a blow for tubby guys everywhere :]

Mike proves that absolute inability to dance is no obstacle to stardom :[

And this has got to be the most subliminal song about jerkin'-off :D

  • @AgenteDeMousse trust a jerk to make a comment like that

  • @1900JME1959

My favourite new stalker. Stick to 'run rabbit run' chap.

  • This is a question for women . is mike love ugly ?

  • @bobluman4 YES..Mike Love is UGLY, but, he has money..lol

  • @2016don really he is he's not that bad ...

  • in one song they sing "bomb bomb Iran" and here "help help Iran" ;/

  • Yeah AL!!!

  • ROCK ON BRIAN WILSON !!!!!!

  • tuzukete rhonda !!!!

  • No, 99.9% looks, 0.09% good taste, 0.01% talent

This is the reality and is very sad. Gary Jules was well said when he make song with name MAD WORLD

  • mike love is useless

  • Not a bad singer among them.

  • the beach boys are originally from hawthorne california

  • Brian Wilson....youre my idol

  • Never realized how great a voice Al had. Awesome. Did he write music for the Beach Boys?

  • Comment removed

  • @mrbobevans Yes, f.e. 2 of the 3 California Sagas, Island Girl, Susie Cincinnati, Lady Lynda, Lookin' At Tomorrow (A Welfare Song) etc, not mentioning that he co-wrote with Brian one of my favourite songs At My Window. I VERY like it!!! Generally I like all the songs he wrote. As for Al's vocals, I dig his voice too!!! I rate him the 1st place. He is very underrated singer. Close 2nd is Brian, not his falcetto but his usual voice on WIBN, SJB especially!

  • @TheMarishka9 What part of California are the Beach Boys from. I really want to go the LA area. Being from Louisville, KY, we hear so much about the LA area. My wife went to Manhattan Beach for work, but did not get to do any siteseeing. Hopefully, she will get another chance to go there. By the way, Louisville is a really nice city to live in. Not too big and not too small, and centrally located.

  • It's funny how Mike Love looks so out of place, having no instrument to play and just bopping awkwardly.

  • @predlycon yeah, could have at least given him a tambourine, lol

  • Dennis Wilson is soooo good lookin!!!

  • @FLE22P was*

  • @FLE22P that may be, but you can't even see him in this video.

  • love this video!

oh and brian's ass looks great @ 37 seconds.

just thought i'd point that out. good day

  • @thenameiwantwastaken carl at 1:38 haha

  • @lady12480 yeah those wilson boys have nice backsides! and I love when they opt for the "extra tight" slacks! :)

  • I'd love enjoy a video on Youtube without having to watch a Ad first....why'd they start doing that? It's so stupid. Great vintage Beach Boys video tho. :)

  • sorrry, who were the beach boys influence? Was Brian the chief songwriter. Joe born late 70s

  • @vomheinolf lol they can't bow too far or their pants wil rip

  • 6 people didn't get help from Rhonda

  • bow bow bow

  • Linkara sent me here

  • Dang, Al-who woulda thunk it dude? I had no idea that was you on lead! Nice! BTW-I talked to a former member of the Beach Boys, who will remain nameless. He said Mike was constantly trying to divide loyalties and take over the band, and the struggle aged this person10 years in the 5 he was in the band. Chuck Negron, in his book "Three Dog Nightmare", expressed similar feelings, saying Mike shamed Brian into giving him a job no one else would-lead singer in a rock band.

  • I often find it painful to watch Mike Love 'in action' but I love his harmonies in this performance: "bow bow bow bow... Rhonda help me Ron"

And what charming wee smile from Al @ 1:05

  • Al is such a great talent and SHOULD be in the BB`s band now.

  • I never hear him sing lead. I don't know why, he has such a lovely voice <3

  • @TheDoubleLLJ Actually he already sang before; his first lead vocals are on "Christmas Day" (1964), one of my 3 faves in The BBs Christmas Album. Other 2 are The Man With All The Toys and Frosty The Snowman (the latter is excellent cover by them).

  • @TheDoubleLLJ

he and carl shared brians leads during the post 64 concerts, so there you can hear him on many brian vocals.

  • I really like this video. It showed the group together. Do you think there's a play -back? This group was together "until death do us part". No bickering, no tantrums. God took Dennis away too soon, and then Carl. By the way Al Jardine went solo when Carl died. He formed the group Beach Boy and Friends, for which M. Love took him to court. He got to keep the name. His son's in the group as well as other ex-BB's extras and in 2006 he teamed up with Brian for the 40th anniversary of Pet Sounds

  • @misstsarina You mean it was "BEACH BOY and friends?" Good gosh Mike, what the hell was wrong with Al using that name for a tour?! BEACH BOY! WITHOUT THE "S!" Hopefully Mike has stopped that crap. I know he's on board for the release of "SMiLE" this year so maybe.

  • @MattHatte

Al just recently played with MIke and Bruce again at the reagan tribute concert.

  • @misstsarina I think it is a playback, but of a version specially rerecorded for the show. It's clearly different from the version that was in the charts at the time. They also seem to have avoided any vocal doubling to help the illusion that they are singing and playing live.Maybe they are actually singing live (they were so good that it's hard to tell) but the backing ain't live, that's for sure.

  • The Beach Boys prove you dont need to be good looking to be an entertainer, just look at Al.

Thats the problem with new artists these days... 90% looks 10% talent.

  • @94981745 what do you mean? he's a sex panther

  • @94981745

The Beach Boys look 1000% better than modern entertainers.

Most new artists today look like whores, little drag queens, or monkeys/apes.

Look at MTV. MTV is full of apes and gorilla-thugs. That's all it shows.

I'll take the Beach Boys over the dumb apes on MTV any day.

  • @whitekuduone

Yep. You're spot on. I couldn't state it any better.

We're living the scary times of slutification of out youth, with corporate backing and complacency from the general public.

I feel sorry for my future grandchildren.

  • @whitekuduone

Yep. You're spot on. I couldn't state it any better.

We're living the scary times of slutification of our youth, with corporate backing and complacency from the general public.

I feel sorry for my future grandchildren.

  • @94981745 I think it's more like 2% talent or less, just look at Lady GaGa.

  • @blahblablalltimelow I agree with you totally ! I'm sad when I see wanabees that adore their mindless idols. My kids are still young, but they can listen to the Beach Boys without having me change the channel or shut off the radio, or having to explain certain words that they heard. The singers now make kids think that life is either sex or hate. The Beach boys sang about love and life. And the Wilsons are really good looking. Thanks Al for your vocals and thanks Brian for letting him sing.

  • @94981745 Although we enjoy music videos, unfortunately music videos influenced that current requirement of percentages. Would we rather be back in the transistor AM radio days with great talent like this but no You Tube or DVRs?

  • @94981745 Are you kidding? People like Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber don't even have 1% talent

  • @94981745 haha true, but al has that face you can't help but love

  • @94981745 I disagree with you about Al's being not good looking. He is the most handsome from The BBs in my book. Yes, I have that unusual kind of taste whatever you'd say.

  • @TheMarishka9 That is unusual.

  • @TheMarishka9 I think he qualify as a kind of "ugly cute". He's got a very weird/unusual face, but looks like he's a very cool and nice guy.

Also, love his voice. No pretention nor extraordinary performances in his singing, but he sounds like a very happy teenager (and still does, nowadays), and I appreciate that a lot.

  • @Canaveral305 G'day! I respect your point of view but I have mine and It's polar opposite of yours: I associate Al's face with typical American face; for me his appearance is even symbol of America. Usually I don't like stereotypes but Al's rare if not the only exception. His bright Hollywood and at the same time somewhat childlike smile keeps my spirits up. That's how I see it.

  • @94981745 Aww come on, Al's a good looking guy.

  • @94981745 - 10% talent? You are giving them too damned much credit.

  • @realbogus

DAMN; i just wanted to say that!!!

  • @94981745 more like 99.9 percent. music today is crap

  • @94981745 ...or thin....

  • @94981745 not to mention the wilsons, dennis is attractive but the carl and brian arent the most handsome guys. So i would have to agree with you!

  • @94981745 On the contrary though, I used to have a great friend who was madly in love with Al Jardine and thought he was the best looking guy in the world! hehe. So, I guess there is someone out there for everyone. :)

  • @94981745 He's not that ugly he's seems like he is a really cool guy .

  • @94981745 LOL I think even 10% talent might be pushing it...

  • @94981745 case in point.....I saw Riahnna perform on TV today and she was flat 75% of the time...it's embarassing when a professional singer can't even sing the notes in tune!

  • @mpopovsk rihanna and anyone that likes rihanna sucks.

  • @94981745 he is so ugly that its adorable haha. i feel bad for him and he makes me smile :) hahaha

  • @94981745 10% ? You're nice :)

  • @94981745

well I would never say that Al was bad looking, rather average I would say. looks like your everyday man down the road. he was slightly short though ^^

  • They're so good, you have to listen hard to tell it apart from the studio version.

  • Extretremely awed by Al Jardine and his performance. Didn't know that had get such a good voice. He could have shared the lead singer with Mike Love who had certainly a better voice than Mike. What a talent . I'm not exaggering when I say excellent. Bravo ! You weren't in the spot light very much, which it saying that that you really have a tone superior to Mick. This post taught me off guard and I enjoyed it;

  • classics..

  • I loved a Rhonda back in '63. She didn't even know I existed. The stupid cow.

  • I wonder if Rhonda did anal?

  • Was Al Jardine the lead singer on Help me Rhonda?

I just assumed it was Mike Love.

  • I get so much crap for my name because of this song....but I still can't help but love it.

  • Man 1:32 really hit me like a shock. All three brothers together in frame. Carl rarely shared a mic with Brian so to see them together like that was great but also a little sad.

  • the beach boys. are coming. to my city. if i don't go. i will die

  • Man, I really love the Beach Boys, but gosh, did they ever suck on their instruments...no wonder why they usually used studio musicians and just sang on most of the albums.
