  • crackin' band!

  • saw her at lingerie club in la 1983 she was great, and authentic like noone today

  • Plp: Public Leaning Post. An old fashioned term for hangin out on the street.

  • Unsurpassed. Thanks for posting.

So what does "p.l.p. down at the meter" mean?

  • Rickie Lee

invented the gloves on the rock stage, she made this popular!

the gloves, and the beret, and the lingerie,

that was all early Miss Jones.

  • This song brings back summer of '79 like no other track...I am sure that as a kid I butchered the lyrics, but that didn't matter. A great lttle tune to be cherished always.

  • saw her debut on snl and she was fantastic

  • Chuck called Tom one night to tell him he'd been smitten by a distant cousin. Tom replied by uttering the phrase, "Chuck E.'s in love.' ricky was in the room, and scribbled the phrase down after hearing it.

  • Chuck E. is about a real guy. Chuck E. Weiss. Ricky had a romantic relationship with Tom Waits which ended shortly after this song took off for her. Chuck was a close friend of Tom's and the three of them were tight for a few years.

  • Buzz is playing at The Cotton Club Tokyo in June with one hell of a band .. incl Brandon , JT and a rhythm section that sounds wonderful ... bassist studied with James Jamerson ... his name is JV Collier .

Wish I could be there .

  • They've been re-broadcasting some old BBC concerts recently on BBC4. Here's hoping they dig this one out.

  • cracking band...

  • Pirates may well be the greatest music ever recorded. Sheer musical genius.

  • i agree Pirates rules!!

  • PIRATES is one of my all time favourite.

One of the greatest recording. fantastic songs, great musicianship and stellar production.

  • 30 years have past?

  • Rickee is one of the greatest. Chuck E is great and this live gig shows the real great timing of the members of the band. Understanding Rickee

  • 30 years ago. . .after SNL, Chuck E's and Coolsville , you just had to buy the LP.

  • I wish i could have seen this live, but thanks for posting

  • Sure, I did see Larsen-Feiten Band at the Bottom Line in NYC in Nov 1980 and Rickee came out and did Youngblood with them, it was pretty cool. I made an audiance recording of it that came out pretty listenable.

  • @FeitenFan

    Post it!

  • so cool is so right!

  • what can we say but BRAVO Rickie !

Nothing else could hold a candle to her.

    Live on girl.....

  • i remember this live, was a small venue on tottenham court road from memory, went out and bought record next day, she was so cool !

  • @ascoteagle I was living in Seven Sisters Road and the Old Grey etc. just blew me away and the following day I went out and scored it. Good sounds great times.

  • outstandin rick,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,xxxxx

  • Go Girl!

  • the background singer is louder than her........that sux!!!!!

  • VOLUME, people, VOLUME

  • i adore this song...can we adjust the volume so it's louder?

  • I just turn up the volume on my speakers or laptop

  • Fantastic,Wonderful, Brilliant

  • refreshing in 1979 and refresching in 2009!!

  • lol wherez chucky :S

  • This was such a refreshing new sound in Pop music when it came out. Pity the music industry doesn't promote talent anymore, just manufactured 'stars' that look good to teenagers.

  • there's still good music out there. you just have to look elsewhere.

  • WTF i live in a pharmacy?

  • love this song! Grew up on this stuff - real music

  • REAL it is brother....creative....innovative..just darn good......

  • この頃のラーセン・フェイトンが一番好きだな。音も演奏もアピアランスも最高にカッコ良い!!

  • Bouncing Buzzy! This cat can ball! He has become more animated over the years and he even jumped into my table at a jazz club in Los Angeles. I didn't mind at all but I think it pissed off Dave Weckl some.

Thanks for the post...not too many live versions of this great tune. Too bad Gadd wasn't on the bandstand!

  • oldskool

  • OK, what does this comment mean, since it is about a 28 year old video? Or do you want newskool with some drum machines, sampling and other crap?

  • um...pretty sure it wasn't a disrepectful manner in which he meant "oldskool"...juuuuuust a thought.

  • FeitenFan who gives a flying cowboy.. It's on the screen and sound is out of the speakers.. Balls to everything else, we have Ricky Lee Jones hopefully forever.. Show your kids, let them know..

  • Tell it like it is !

Whatever the school .. if Buzz is part of it .. its a master class in rhythm and fun !

  • @FeitenFan the "oldskool" comment isn't necessarily negative...

  • @FeitenFan Why in the world would you consider "oldskool" to be a negative comment?

  • Alanis, Jewell, Colvin and others, you will never have what RLJ has.

  • good one from back in the day...have to know the song tho to understand rickie's performance...which is great in this one...loved it!

  • Yes, I always thought that RLJ was best with Larsen & Feiten being her band. They have a way with the rythm that work best with her songs

  • Thanks

  • This has always been one of my favorites of all times!!!

  • She never plays it the same way because she probably cant remember how it goes. Great song tho.

  • she would get the cock.

  • That is how I remember this 17 year old runaway with the long hair and beret...Is it Rasberry ...

  • I don't know if it is Rasberry or not, but it is a "Princely" performance!!

  • Awesome!

She is so diverse. She never plays the same thing exactly the same way.

    Genius..

And totally in the 'Right Taxi."
