One of your best "radio" videos yet, Bill. Great editing too.
I SO want to use your "strap on the old seatbelts . . ." as a drop-in element on my radio show. Gonna have to talk to you about that. Pure Bill Elder brilliance!!
Catching up on the YT viewing and good video Bill. We have a radio station here in Tiogo Co NY called WEBO 1330 AM just moved back into their studios after recovering from The Big Flood of 2011. Listen to them as much as I can & they do their remotes around the local area supporting the community.I feel pretty luck to have a radio station like WEBO to listen to. Just like I'm pretty lucky to be viewing great content from BillTVMacon & BillTVMacn2. Have a good one today Bill!
I remember we had a remote coverage of a football match. At the time our station had a little trailer which we parked near the field. During the game someone from the audience came to ask me (as beeing the engineer) to turn the speakers off, 'because the reporter sucked!' The same reporter kept talking during a news and commercial break. For some reason he put down his headphones. I cut his mic and played news and commercials. About 7 min. later he was back on air! Still talking! He never knew!
@Tegel4ever LOL! I did that same thing at the Big X. The news guy never wore headphones and I recorded his outro and could cut a 7 minute newscast down to three minutes. LOL When he caught me he wasn't happy.
@billtvmacon LOL! Maybe I can use that sometime....
Don't know why but if I'm on air without headphones I feel a little bit 'blind'. Got it? Radio....Blind....;-)
A few years ago we did a remote broadcast in a forrest nearby a manor house an we were running late. In a hurry we set up the gear and went on air...with no microphone! The first 15 mins went by phone as I went back to fetch one.
@TheL1ttleGuy Thank...I mean...Thank Youuuu! Kieran. I didn't have enough time to tell the singing anchorman story. You'll get it on the Blue Channel, tho.
I can soooo relate to those stories Bill. At WTOR we used to take a network news feed, but always ran local commercials while they did a 60 second horse racing feature. One of my coworkers, Bob Rivers (yes, THAT Bob Rivers) came out of a commercial a few seconds early once, and the audience heard "Get your hands on a Toyota, you'll never let go. But I'd rather ride a horse." True story.
@billtvmacon I've known Bob since he was 10 (and I was 14). Ohh, the stories I could tell! The WTOR job was a high school summer fill-in. I think he was only 17 at the time. We both went into radio for a while and worked at several of the same stations. He stayed with radio, and I moved to cable TV. Our paths have crossed a number of times over the years.
@ChRoPi21 Thanks! I started when I was 15 and was in radio for 30 years. My YTube channel has a Radio category with all of the videos in it. I did 24 years of morning radio. You might enjoy some of them.
At first, even as a seasoned veteran BillTVmacon viewer I almost couldn't keep up, but aboot half way thru it was smooth sailing.
Loved it!
I wish I was smart enough to think of how to use your "clog dancing" as an unsuspecting co-host/ripoff/cutaway bit in an upcoming vlog, but, alas,.. I got nothin, even tho it BEGS it.. haha
@TheWoodcreekFaction I just found hat clip somewhere on the hard drive. I need to look for more. I have a tour of the whole station somewhere. That might be fun.
Oh yes, and as for AM Radio, I get the news from WBZ News Radio 1030 AM, and I even have it on that station whenever there are snow days because of the WBZ Storm Center giving the latest religious, college, private school, and public school delays and cancellations. Finally, I might also listen to a Boston Bruins game (and New England Patriots) on WBZ 98.5 FM The Sports Hub too.
I listen to the radio every day Biil. In fact on weekday mornings, I would listen to WBMX Mix 104.1 and play Can't Beat Kennedy. Then it would follow up on WODS 103.3 FM and play What's My Town? On Saturdays, I would have it on WBUR 90.9 FM and listen to my favorite NPR show "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!", and on Sundays have it own WZLX 100.7 FM (Boston's classic rock) amd listen to Breakfast With The Beatles with Cha-Chi Loprete.
Yeah, the local rock station used to have a huge van to go on remotes. It had a telescoping antenna pole that came out of the roof and everything. Now - no kidding - they do remotes out of a VW Bug! Pathetic.
@realspacemodels Is that what they mean by downsizing? LOL When they started using cell phones for remotes that had that same static you used to try to fake on the phone when you're having an argument with your girl friend...I knew remotes were toast.
Would LOVE to hear those albums!!!
