I think the Klitschko's are so dominant because they are skilled, in shape and had lots of amaeur experience before turning pro. Alot of the American HW's now are turning pro too early, getting fat and simply can't match the Klitschko's after building up padded records. That's why I believe the only hope the HW division has is in the smaller guys like Tua, or the guys coming up from CW like Haye and Adamek. The Brothers won't be acustomed to fighting guys who are in shape, quick and skilled.

I recently re-watched the lennox/vitali fight. Vitatli was doing well, but I think that Lewis was going to stop him if it weren't for the cut. At one point, Lewis played possum/tired and then loaded up with a punch from hell.

I don't think that Holyfield would have beaten Vitali, though. I must disagree. I think that Riddick Bowe would have beat Vitali in his prime. If that doesn't make sense, I think that Bowe's physique matches up better than Holysteroidfield.

A lot of people think that a great athlete makes a great fighter. Not so. And it's also true that great fighters are often not great athletes in other sports. I remember seeing Ken Norton participate in an all around sports contest with a bunch of other pro athletes. Ken Norton couldn't do anything. The Klitschkos are big but they're also amateur champs etc. A lot of the topranked pros today have a more prestigious amateur career than ever before. Also Julius Long, 7'1", 90 inch reach, brother and cousin play in the NBA. His boxing record = 15w 13 L. Audley Harrison, Tye Fields, Sam Peter, Alexander Ustinov, and Mariusz Wach all KOed Julius Long. He was recently beaten by Odlanier Solis who beat David Haye in the amateurs. No NBA NFL boxer

The amateur system today also doesn't compare to back in the day. Go watch Old Footage of Amateur fights before they put on head-gear and started counting with the pitty-pat point-system.

It was basically a 3 round fight like the Pro level because that is what it was made for: to get you adjusted to become a Pro and get spotted by a Promoter/Manager.

Back in the day the object wasn't really to have 100+ amateur fights like they do today because they weren't career amateurs; it was all about learning fast, getting better, and turning pro quick to get paid.

The point with the NBA and NFL are that the top athletes are going into those sports over boxing. There is greater opportunity available to these athletes in those sports compared to boxing.

For one, most, schools have Basketball and Football in High-School. And then in College where you can get scholarships to pay for your education so just in case you get hurt for example, you still have an education to back you up.

Now with boxing, you are more likely compared to the other two to be left on the street and have a good chance to be over-looked or screwed over at some point because it is still very dirty business.

I agree, they are under-appreciated here in America. They are unstoppable. Wlad has adjusted his style to protect his chin, and he's been unbeatable. Vitali's just a beast. He takes big hits and keeps on coming. No one right now anywhere can beat them in my opinion. I'm shocked neither of these guys are even on the p4p list.
