  • learnin the first violin piece for the school's symphony orchestra right now

  • me and the other student in the same grades play this music on a concert last year... how we practice this music so hard, it left an unforgettable memories to me :')

  • "Take my hand.

    I'm a Stranger In Paradise."

  • I am always amazed to see Seiji Ozawa conducting without a score. He really brings any music he conducts to life. This is not too slow. It provides the melody time to wander around in your musical senses to completion before moving on.

  • I an always impressed by Seiji Ozawa conducting without music. The tempo is not too slow on the romantic theme. It allows for the beauty of the melody to fully conclude. Thank yo for posting this.

  • it does not only SEEM to be to slow, it IS way to slow and looses its dynamic when executed like that. Reminds me of Karajan with his absurd metrics. Sorry Mr Ozawa...

  • That oboist is extraordinary. (in particular... they're all fantastic)

Does anybody but me think this is a little slow?

  • @rhunget Me either. I play the oboe and we have played that one year ago... so it's a little slow I think.

  • Merveilleuse direction de Seiji Ozawa. Un tel chef et un tel orchestre, cela ne se rencontre pas tous les jours : ils vivent la musique de l'intérieur, et ils nous transmettent leur art avec qualité et sensibilité.

  • LOL 2:08 the pianist

  • love this piece, Russian composition has such depth

  • .........Excelente pieza de Borodín!!! ...con unas imagenes de alta definición

un Director expresivo, contundente..y el sonido espectacular, para un evento

    realizado al aire libre!!

  • its a little too slow for me, but very music wind section love the communication

  • What version is this, or has it been spliced a couple of times?

  • @Chicxulub65M Yes. It was spliced from a rendition of Sukiyaki by Kyu Sakamoto by Seiji Ozawa who thought they sounded alike! That's why the first violinists were confused!

  • Respond to this video...

In Soviet Russia, you dont play Borodin's music

    Borodin's music PLAYS YOU!!!

  • Toll! :D

  • it sounds great but if you look closely, a lot of the 1st violinists are making mistakes

  • @emilio749 well it is a bloody hard piece for 1st violinists,

  • masterpiece

  • it's great when you absolutely love the music AND the conductor!

  • Great tempo,,absolutely great introduction.

  • Move over Rimsky-Korsakov, Borodin is so much better. I heard Gustavo Dudamel perform this with the Los Angeles Philharmonic on Tuesday and Thursday night and hot damn, I loved every minute of it.

  • @amadeus5889

We can listen to Alexander Borodin musical work thanks to the efforts of Nikolái Andréyevich Rimski-Kórsakov who was a master of orchestration fo "The Five". I enjoy and love Borodin´s composition since he also was a physician and music was also his passion.

  • @amadeus5889 It's ironic you say Borodin is so much better, when it was Korsakov who orchestrated the dances and finished this suite that was left incomplete due to Borodin's death.

  • god the principal oboe has the most beautiful tone color. Beautiful instrument as well!

  • this music makes everyone happy

  • I´m already crying out of emotion. Thank you so much. I miss the voices though.

  • I thoroughly loved this rendition! my only problem with it was the trumpet on the very last note that was out of tune but they quickly fixed it. Great song!!! I loved this one when i was in the youth symphony!

  • finally i found no vocals version(...)

  • Beautifully played except for one glaring glitch---notice at 7:18 that half the cello section stops playing to turn a page----RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A CELLO SECTION SOLO!! The conductor or the cello players themselves should have fixed this! Such a faux pas would not have been tolerated by such as Stokowsky or Ormandy.

  • @pnocella When a section carries the dominant theme across multiple pages of music, the insides of the stands (Chair 2, 4, etc..) stop playing to turn the page while the outsides (chair 1, 3, etc...) keep playing. It's done so the section can be played without interruption. It's always done this way.

  • i think they skipped a part. other than that, probably one of the greatest pieces i have played.

  • I hate how the camera focuses on the bass drummer at the timpani solo ¬¬ I was trying to see that specific part on the timpani...

  • I have been searching for this video for so long.

Finally, Ozawa and the Berliner Philharmoniker...sublime performance!

  • The guy on the oboe is Hansjörg Schellenberger who was principal oboe of the BPO in the eighties

  • I'm about to cry. It's marvellous!

  • very good

  • Ozawa is superb! Perfect!

  • @prof585 isn't that a cor anglais instead?

  • @doubleredsx3 well then, actually it's the Borodin himself instead :)

  • is that albrecht mayer on the oboe?

  • @yazgoon I'm pretty sure...
