  • the background music is kind of creepy!

  • @MrYonomequejo It is from Jean-Michel-Jarre a French musican.

  • dude your fuking dumb

  • have they tried pouring a tank of water or even sea water on mars?

  • Facts are this..Water exists and had done in vast quantities. The core has failed and thus the magnetosphere that keeps the the highly charged solar particles from stripping away the atmosphere, has failed also. If there wasn't life on Mars with all that water about, i would be very surprised. Beagle 2 thats main mission was to drill into rocks and do on board testing to ind out if any life ever existed some how failed, what a suprise Mr NASA. OH WE CANT SAY WE CAME FROM MARS..Bloody religion!

  • If the ice caps at the north pole of the planet could be melted somehow...The channels could fill with water again and get the ball rolling.

  • @gxcope Cant, the core and magnetosphere has shut down

  • The "news" from Mars is that there ain't no news, mojo.

  • does anyone think that mars was like earth? i mean it is tilted the same, the same weather changes happen then. also ther is water/ice its just a little cold and is full of CO2. maybe something happened here

  • I think we should also develop floating rovers, to check out planets, Flying > Driving

  • I wondering any life one earth now, that could live on present mars, that could also photosynthesize. I feel like we should move forward to terraform the planet

  • Space: just another thing to kill each other over

  • Like the vid, but creepy music.

  • what happened to the water? Wouldn't it be in the atmosphere?

  • @rebel4evr114 the magnetic field weakend so the atmosphere was blown out in space due to solar winds

  • and this is AMAZING! although im insane and believe that NASA missions are just a show and that we've been to mars and beyond! they have military outposts on the moon now, or atleast Bush ok'd that happening. we probably have outposts on mars already as well...ofcourse once again this is speculation until proven otherwise. just food for thought.

  • @DoctorSess What exactly is the strategic value of a military base on Luna?

  • @Smackerlacker1 ask Dubya as he opened the door for that possibility...

  • @Smackerlacker1 helium 3

  • @Smackerlacker1 The Strategic value of a luna military base is, as always, that many contractors will make a great deal of money.

  • its like the movie (predictive program) "Mission to Mars" in wich they discover life on Earth was seeded by escape pods from a dying Mars. when earth reaches that brink we'll seed on another planet. maybe we (or the monolith) is seeding life on europa right now...hahah. this is ofcourse philosophical until i hold the evidence in my hands.

  • I wanna know what the hell happened to the life in Mars...

  • it was an Earth. look where we are headed...we might be the next mars unless we do something.

  • How can you be sure it was like earth? And if ever that was the case. i dont think the event that happened in mars is stoppable. It looks like a cosmic catastrophe.

  • It's painfully obvious that Mars once hosted life of some sort. Literally can't wait for a manned mission, if it ever happens. Excited at the prospect of discovering significant evidence of past life, especially to see the looks on the faces of the God squad.

  • God's squads are like rats, they adapted pretty well to new "epistemic conditions" ... unfortunately for us. They'll find something in the Bible to explain life on mars.

  • Google: bible proves life on mars

The fucktards have already prepared themselves.

this is from a site called biblestudymanuals()net

"2. If some day life were to be found on Mars, there would be good reason to believe it may have come from Earth possibly having been blasted there by asteroid impact during the Flood of Noah's day.

    2. Given the amazing complexity of life, wherever life is found, it had to have been created by an intelligent Designer."

  • @mullingman They think there is still life there due to methain.

  • @mullingman Mars can still have life :) lets hope so

  • @daniobeita: As long as there is some form of water, there is hope for life.

  • @mullingman How is it "painfully obvious?"

  • @mullingman There could very well be some forms of life. There is wind on Mars, and wind means that there is air. However, the atmosphere is thin, and is mostly made up of choking CO2. This is not to say that life could not survive in these conditions though, because they have discovered life living in far worse conditions at the bottom of oceans on Earth. There is also frozen water, as well as organic materials. But the possibility of life still remains a mystery.

  • Why is it that the color of mars is always exaggerated? It the same color as OUR dry arid desserts, and does have a small transparent blue atmosphere.

  • Hey, thanks for using my Equinoxe 7 cover in this video!!!

    :-) :-)

  • Can anyone tell me what the music is that starts when the little rover starts wheeling away?

  • @ForamMan

Artist is definetly 'Jean Michelle Jarre'

Album i believe is (his 2:nd) 'Equinox'

  • @ForamMan

A blah, i spelt everything wrong (embarrassing)!

    Should be:

    'Jean Michel Jarre', 'Equinoxe'

  • Oops i spoke too soon, had not looked at whole video

    @ForamMan

suppose you meant the music @~9:00, thats NOT Jarre!

My apologies to everyone having to read all my rantings...

  • This is awesome and anybody who says different is just jealous because they will never achieve anything as great as this in their life....

  • Looks just like Google Mars :)

  • yup great movie.BUT,GO AHEAD AND STICK A TISSUE BOX IN YOUR ASS.

  • Yes it was misused, some of it could have been spent educating you.

  • Geez, both of you calm down. I know how much some people love Mars...

All I'm saying is that we can fix our own first.

    Quite easy, really.

  • SWEET MONKEY JESUS IT HAS A JET PACK AND A LAZ0R!

    Most awesome drone ever..

  • mars is th earth family

  • Well, Science can be a bit disappointing at times.. See how we use "the power of the atom".. We cook friggin water with it and blow the steam through plain old turbines..

But on the other hand, imagine doing it yourself.. Bringing a thing to another planet with a connection thats "only" light speed.. Thinking about all probabilities before, programming the software, building the devices.. These guys really do something extraordinary.

  • And that's the rover?? Can't we send something even lightly bigger and more robust? Man sends a rocket that far and the package would fit inside a smaool box??? Outrageous for something that costs BILLIONS.

  • the rover is in the size of a car and weights about 900kg... i wouldn't say it's small, or fits in a box... it's huge!

  • If that is so, that's good. The last 2 they sent where no more than big RCs in size...

  • their mass is ~180kg each... Dimensions: 1,5 m height; 2,3 m width and 1,6 m length.

    there's a pic:

    starspace[DOT]lv/upload_pic/news_img/2009_07/04072009_02.jpg

i think they are pretty big....

  • Replace [DOT] with . and remove the space from the word "news", and you'll get a working address. (just in case you're wondering why's the link not working)

  • My question, why does it take a few weeks for the public to get hold of NASA pictures while in the 70's we can get them real time? Videos even.

  • I'm no expert but I've always wondered why is the atmosphere shown as a pinkish colour? Is it really that colour anyway? Is it because of the carbon dioxide?

    Why is it that colour?

    Can anyone put me right?

  • Normally, without tempest, it should be white blue with clouds sometimes.

  • Where is the real video footage of the planet Mars?

Rover, satellite footage ? It's 2009 and we can't show a real video of this planet or its surface?

  • thats an excellent point. can anyone else verify if there has or why theres NOT any footage of the mars surface?

  • what are you an idiot ? or where you locked up in a cave for the past 5 years?

  • well that sure clearned that question up.

  • well if u belive the mars truthers its all over utube, but who knows where these vids come from or the images i should say

  • How do we know the guy narrating this is genuine, and not a quack? :p

  • Well done, intelligent and entertaining. Glad there are people like you out there.

  • My vote for Mawrth Vallis as it got the most interesting features to observe in HiRISE closeups ( see my Mars Wonderland 3 video) as well as some interesting mineral readings...

  • i think that this is amazing i meen what would stop us from sneding a larg craft maned and wee could buills insid the craft then put it out on the surfice in put plants that protuse oxygin and billd some kind of bace ther and make mars habitbul thats somthing we should do whats stoping us ps am dyslexic bad speller but who agrees with me

  • Technology is the only thing stopping us at this point. Sending a robot to scout the planet is one thing, sending a craft of humans is something completely different.

  • its n ot tech thats stoping us,its money,we can send men to the moon we can send them to mars, but the government would never allow it,and why would we wanna go,to prove life was once there or maybe to inhabit it,even if we sent them today mars wouldnt be livable in our childerns life time, maybe tech is hold us back a little,i forgot bout the propulsin it would take to get there

  • how would you reac?t how would you feel and be if you knew tomorrow that it was a civilization on mars before? what this would change in your life? if you were catholic or in other religions?for many people in the world this will be in a way the end of there life! imagine the bible will not mean anything for them anymore all their believes..not just for them but for many other ppl..so thats why they are not telling us all about mars and hiding photos that they find there bu some make it out

  • Amazing video, the scientists and engineers should be applauded.

  • Is that really how the new rover is going to land?

    It seems overly complicated.

  • this thing is freakin' heavy, it's in the size of a car

    Mass -1,984 pounds (900 kg)

  • we need to go to Mars

  • RIGHT.WE NEED TO GO TO MARS

  • what's the last update regarding methane?

  • It looks like the next decade of the 21st century is going to be a very interesting one.

  • Excellent and very enjoyable video, love the soundtrack also.

  • NICE VIDEO

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!

we have the chance to see what people before us never even dreamed of!!! that was amazing!!!!! and to think that in a few years we will laugh at that antique robot...

and to think that future generations of humans will walk all over those surfaces! its really amazing!

  • So many unexplained anomalies on Mars and all they want to explore is craters? Forget about the so-called face, what about the strange tube-like structures? What about the area that looks like vegetation? What about the friggin water spouts? And all they want to explore is craters. Fuck you.

  • lol u right, very right i agree

  • "Forget about the so-called face"

No need to forget about it, it has been photographed in very high resolution.

Like many 'anomalies' they look perfectly natural when viewed clearly.

  • No one has yet to explain the tubes. Apparently they can't put enough filters over the camera to blot it out :-)

  • The "tubes" are sand dunes. Jump on google earth, you can find similar dunes elsewhere on our own planet. I've never seen a "vegetation" claim that wasn't either "it looks green, so it MUST be vegetation" or low res images of fissures which are very clearly fissures in high res images. Water spouts? Thats a new one to me - you're not talking about the dust devils, are you?

Yes, we want to expore craters. We want to explore REAL objects, kthnkx.

  • ask jesus.

  • marsquakes, lol.

  • What I would give to be that new rover on Mars...

  • The Mars Science Laboratory animation is awesome. :)

  • Well it all makes sense now.

2012 is when the Mars science laboratory will set down.

2012 is the end of the world!

So it's the Martians that will destroy us in 2012.

Noooo That film "Mars Attacks" was real!!!!!

    Ahhhhh

    (Yes I'm Joking - I don't believe any of that 2012 bs)

  • Did you believe the 2k crap? xd

  • Errr... no. You mean the Y2K ... NO.

  • Yeah, that

  • YOUR SICK TOO

  • when are we gonna have enough guts to send a manned mission to mars. I know it's really dangerous and all, but when are we gonna stop the excuses and just do it.

maybe when obama's not president? i hope so, because he doesn't seem to care about this.

  • "maybe when obama's not president? i hope so, because he doesn't seem to care about this."

There are more important things going on in the world right now. It's called priorities. The Obama Administration is trying to take care of the most trying problems first. Weak economy, War, Rebuilding broken alliances with other nations, etc etc etc. Obama is actually an advocate of scientific endeavors. But we can't sacrifice our economy right now to make it happen. Give it time. =D

  • You're right on the money. Hopefully the economy will recover soon, because I'd really like to see a lot of money invested into Science and Education. Just need a few Liberal presidents in a row and NASA will have all the funding they need!

  • yea, i guess so. i've just been watching all these shows about exploring mars on the discovery channel about mars and they keep saying that there's not enough money.

you're right though. with the terrible economy we have, it'll just take time.

i just wish i had more patience.

  • I love this video. I really like exploring things. Keep it up guys.

  • !!!!!!! A M A Z I N G !!!!!!! at 4:30 is what I've been asking myself since I was a child (addicted to ET & Close Encounters..)

  • to say were the only thing living in this universe is so dam retarded! no one knows and when we do find other life! which we will! and some type of it will be on mars. doesn't mean there is no God.

  • All wrong!

    John 11:35

    "jesus wept"

That little pussy cried so fucking much he caused the formations on Mars!

  • Excellent video. Really well presented and visually pleasing. Great that you're doing this to include us, the public, in your exploration!

  • Those were some pretty neat camera angles.

Do they have choppers on Mars already?

  • no its virtualization pictures tooken from satelite lolz

  • Mars was put there along with evidence of water to test our faith.

-Sarcasm- for those who can't tell the difference

  • Wrong. After Satan finished making all the fossils on Earth, he went to Mars to dig riverbeds. And if we ever discover fossils on Mars, Satan made those too.

  • This is true. I read it in the bible. Pretty sure of it.

  • Hopefully we'll find the shovel that he used as well..

  • No such thing no god either deal with it

  • I see you're incapable of detecting sarcasm. Might wanna work on that.

  • It seems Satan is much more proactive than God is.

  • I can't wait! Go science!

  • I'd like to live in a nice quiet uninhabited place like Mars.

  • it'd take a shitload of time to get your groceries in time. What about phone calls? i don't know man.

  • ROFL

you're right, but the idea is that I don't want any phone calls. I want to live in the lap of nature, in the heart of wilderness, in a place where no man has gone before: space, the final frontier... you know what I mean, that sort of stuff. ^^ Whereas now I live in a dirty, polluted and crowded city, and when I look up to where the sky used to be, all I see is a hole in the ozone layer. It SUCKS.

  • Alexius: "We have NO evidence to indicate what may have existed BEFORE this event and so, with our current knowledge, we cannot categorically state what did or did not exist before that moment, we can only speculate."

Nothing. Time is an attribute of the universe. Time began when the universe did, there is no before. "Before" the universe is meanless, just like a temperature below absolute zero would be meaningless (and impossible).

  • Hrm, interesting at 7:22

why is most of the picture cropped? Hiding something NASA?

If it is made of of smaller images, can someone PM me the links to the actual resolution please?

  • tey wanted to photograph the crater only, so the image is formed from a mosaic of various pictures, enough to get the whole crater . If they wanted to capture a broader image, say a 360 degrees sphere around the rover, they could. If they don't want that, why loose time and take more pictures?

    conspiracy theories are ridiculous...

  • Paranoid much? It's made of smaller images stitched together. It's not cropped.

  • if by paranoid you mean inquisitive? then yes.

  • It is made of many smaller images.

    "Hiding something"

    Paranoid much?

Why is it the first option you go for is accusing people of lying?

  • excellent music :)

  • Marsquakes indeed .. ROTFL!

  • are there any lifeforms in mars ?

  • yes

  • ask the martians

  • the martians must be like "wtf we are being attacked by aliens"

  • forget mars, i wanna see more about europa

  • shouldnt have ignored what RIchard Hoagland was essentially pointing too. lets thank the occultist Jack Parsons and his master Aleister Crowley for performing this "Mars ritual" and the 2000 Nazi paperclip scientists for making all this possible. without them you wouldnt be watching this video right now

  • Too bad we can't send Mars all our Carbon Dioxide.

  • Interplanetary alien war? Fuckin' awesome. Let's kick their fuckin' Martian asses.

  • Do martians have asses?

  • Good point. Let's kick their marklars instead.

  • they've gotta excrete enzymatic waste out of something.

  • Excellent Vid

  • great video.. thanks for sharing.

  • That last clip is amazing.

  • i love the 1.38min mark, looks like a truckstop. thanks for posting, cheers.

  • i dont think we should interfere with mars yet ...there is a chance there might be life on it (still in the celular state) but its still life ...i think we should just let it be who knows maybe its gonna evolve into inteligent beings in a few bilion years ...if this solar system lasts that long.

  • I suppose you should also not take showers because the bacteria on you might evolve into intelligent life in billions of years...

  • The value cellular life on Mars would have would be the knowledge it gave us. Cellular life, whether it's on Mars or on Earth is equal in value. Would we sacrifice a few germs for the greater good of our understanding? I think so, yes...

  • a few ..not all of them ...i dont think we should colonise the planet and live there ...that would be wrong..

  • I disagree... cellular life on Mars would be significantly important, if considered in the grand scheme of our understanding of Life.

Right now, we only know of life on Earth, and nowhere else. The first life we find on a planet / moon outside of Earth is going to be one of the most important discoveries in history.

  • Completely Agree 100%

  • Tough for them. We were here first. Fuck Martian life. I say rape that planet for all it's worth if it means we survive longer.

  • If there is any "life" there, it would be barely that. We should terrafrom Mars, and take it over.

  • thats not very nice is it ? what if a super advanced race comes here and rape us to take us over?

  • This is why they're making very, very sure that MSL is sterile. This will mean it won't introduce life to Mars, and it will also mean that Earth life won't interfere with tests to search for Mars life.

  • I can't watch this video it only makes me angry we could be living there right now if Christianity never existed 2000 years of technology LOST!

  • The MSL doesn't have any solar panels. Will it be nuclear powered?

  • Yes, it will.

  • WOW!

  • i love to see a manned mars landing in my lifetime though it's probably not likely.

  • unless you are like 80 or some thing there is a good chance we will get there around 2025-2032

  • Inspire a nation/world! Let's go to Mars or establish a lunar colony. This would be great for our planet. Take our news off of bullshit petty cultural arguments.

  • lunar comes from luna which means moon you cant have a lunar colony on mars it would be a martian colony =p

  • No, you misunderstood me. I said go to mars OR establish a lunar colony.

  • Besides, Mars does have Moons aswell ;-)

  • The earthers and the enders wouldn't get along, though. :p

  • Thanks for the informative vid.

  • The hilarious part of this is the Creationists trying to think that there is no life on other planets because then the Figure out that this "God" Does not care only about Humans. That is if they can prove this so called "God".

  • Where could I acquire the following 2 tracks? They're pretty amazing

"Prelude to the World" by Mr. Furby

    "Bleeding Rose" by Nathan Pinard.

  • lol you know this do you? Do you understand how improbable that there is no other life?

In our solar system alone we have mapped out over a dozen possible spots.

Most of those are moons, but that doesn't matter.

  • and you know that how? and why are you so sure about that?

  • How do I know we have possible spots for life have been mapped out..? Because.... they have? dur?

Seriously man life doesn't need the conditions that we have to be possible. There is some life in fucking sulfuric acid! The moon of Europa could be teeming with life. We just need to get there under the surface.

Matter is in such abundance in the universe, life really isn't too far off.

  • Maybe it will not be found, but that does not mean it's not there, just out of reach...for now.

  • "Life will not be found on Mars, nor anywhere else outside of Earth."

You're religious, aren't you? Only a religious numbskull would say something like that. Why don't you run along to some religious pseudoscience channel? Bye-bye. Have fun playing with your angels, fairies, Easter bunnies, and gods.

  • No, I'm not religious. WTF does that have to do with it?

  • You are so naive, "jackblair2" it's a proven fact scientists have discovered bacteria on meteor fragments.

Stick to your good book, it's obviously what you know best.

  • Could you give me a link to where you found that?
