Just so you know, I am a trained Chef, and have worked as one in a professional capacity. I have been Chef at several high-end fine dining establishments for a total of almost 10 years. I know what a poor review can mean to a restaurant. This was me review of a restaurant which had been featured on Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares" , and how it had changed the Curry Lounge. I DO know good food and can appreciate it when I find it.
@mtnphotoman You think ppl care bout your shitty review. noticed you said you worked as a chef in fine dining restaurants, personally I work as a Snr Sous at a restaurant with-in a hotel that holds 5 rosettes and 2 stars for the dining experience, notice how I said dining experience not food, because you should know its everything that comes into the equation. I think you are full of shit showing off in front of your mates.. If this was real you would have actual points not just "ITS BAD" douche
@mtnphotoman I would actually pay for you to come and eat where I work on the condition that you couldn't bring your friends and couldn't drink... actually no they wouldn't let you in wearing that shite... but at least the 18 courses we do should keep your mouth shut and fill your over inflated gut
@frontsoldatmm, the comments posted are honest observations…sorry if you didn't like them…but it's my opinion…I had just finished a WONDERFUL meal just a couple streets away at Memsab restaurant…and I am anything but a typical "American", I am very well educated, travel internationally regularly and enjoy learning about new cultures and peoples. Unlike many U.S. citizens I have a mind of my own and am capable of independent thought and speech…and don't make cryptic generalizations!
I have lost about 20 Lbs. since making this video. Racist? Where did that come from…I have a wide variety of friends from different ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds. I don't get where you come off calling me racist! I take people as they are…race, sex, age, color, ethnicity or any other "classification" you give people doesn't matter…as far as I'm concerned you're either a good person or an asshole…and you bizaythegreat1…by the merit of your comment you're the asshole!
@bizaythegreat1…you don't even have one video on your page that YOU HAVE MADE…so you're the one who needs to get a life…go create something…it's easy to sit on your ass making comments on other people's videos, if you're going to criticize someone then let's see you do something!
I was wondering if you had eaten there before the show or right after the show (2007). Obviously you you were there after (2011) the show. It's sad when you read that most of the restaurants fail after reverting back to the old ways before Ramsey was there. I wonder why they do that.
In the future I will be visiting more restaurants featured on the show and will be posting video reviews of them as well. I will be as objective as possible in future, and I will always go with friends so we have a variety of "tastes" and also taste each other's dishes. My review of the Curry Lounge stands, it's my (and my friends') opinion(s) and I'm sticking to it! If I do have good food at one of the restaurants I will say so, and if it sucks I'll say that too.
Sure, I was drunk when I made this video, but being in the UK is wonderful because of thier "Campaign for real ales" (what we call microbrews), and I love sampling the many varieties of ales and lagers available there (most beer in the U.S.A. is shit, too sweet and not enough bitter/tart flavors with no complexity or flavors). Plus we were out for a night on the town and were having fun, and I thought it would be funny to poke fun at the "Kitchen Nightmares" program.
A bit more information about myself, I work as a professional tour guide and have eaten at some of the better and best restaurants in the WORLD, and since the majority of my clients are from outside the United States (by the way, "American" can refer to anyone from North or South America, I am a U.S. citizen), so I probably have a better understanding of world culture and food than you do!
The pilu rice was overcooked then allowed to partially dehydrate during dinner service, and one of our naan breads was still doughy and undercooked. Overall the entire meal was substandard for the amount they were charging.
Our appetizers were Samosas (which we determined to be mass produced frozen restaurant supply company type), curried Salmon (rubbery and badly overcooked, also lacking seasoning) and or course poppadoms (half of the chutneys and sauces for these were obviously bought in as well).
All were bland and tasted like the chef had used the same exact spice blend (masala) for all of them, and they tasted very similar (except the vindaloo was very hot, like it should be). However each dish should have had it's own distinct type of flavor, but apart from the varying levels of heat they pretty much tasted the same.
The service was good, however the food took way too long and was sub-standard when it arrived, and as for the atmosphere, well it was very strange and a bit garish. When it came time to order I asked if there were any "Special dishes" that were offered that were not on the menu and I was told no (and it was Saturday night but the place was half-empty). So I ordered Sagwalla, my companions ordered Chicken Tikka masala, a lamb vindaloo, and a biriyani (sp?).
I was not the only one to not like the place, there were 4 of us dining there and we all agreed that the food was just not acceptable for the prices they were charging for it. Our starters took 25 minutes to get to the table after ordering (way too long, as they were very simple ones) the main courses took another 45 minutes to arrive, and the desserts another 15 minutes after we had ordered them. None in my group ordered anything particularly difficult or time consuming to prepare or cook.
I travel to the UK yearly and while there I try to eat at as many curry houses while there. More curry dishes have been invented in the UK than in India…did you know that? The midlands area of the UK has some of the best (and worst) curry restaurants in the world! Our meal at the Curry Lounge was poor in comparison to several other curry houses in the Nottingham area.
However this place did not keep up with the advice that Chef Ramsay had given them and had reverted back to they're old ways. When I go to a supposedly "good" curry restaurant in the U.K. I expect good service and food in a pleasant atmosphere. This place had none of it, while just up the street there was one that did! Memsaab 12-14 Maid Marian Way, Nottingham, UK did live up to and exceeded my expectations.

why would you do something like this. If you dont like it then dont go there. You are destroying many lives and livelihoods as you prob have no clue of the damage bad reviews can do.
Then again you are the stereotypical American with the best tastes... and judging from your vocabulary not the classiest of tastes. SO why dont you take this crap of and let people judge for themselves or read a proper review by someone who knows what they are talking about when it comes to food
The guy sounds pretentious in the video and in the comments.
