I never got into My Chemical Romance, and don't even know what emo is, but The Red by Chevelle is a cool, song! ...and I didn't say you didn't like it....and it's not metal, but it's somewhat heavy. I like it better than some metal songs. Heavy Metal just means heavy sound on the strings. When guitars were capable of more distortion, it evolved among people to describe music using it as Heavy Metal. Old Classical Music (Beethoven's Symph No. 7,) is sometimes even called Heavy Metal.

I disagree, i think they can express just as much emotion as any other genre of music, they just don't. Because who's going to want to dance in a club to a slow song about how sad someone is? No one, pop is happy catchy songs that you can dance to. It's made to be sold to the biggest crowd and get the most attention possible.

metal takes plenty of talent to write songs, just listen to Amon Amarth... they do such a good job with the viking theme that i feel like i'm on a ship ready to fight an epic battle when i'm simply driving my car to work. It's all about the theme and imagination, metalheads use their heads for thinking too not just headbanging. and screaming? no, no, no... it's growling, i can scream... my mom can scream but it takes some talent to growl well enough to do it through an entire album.
Led Zepplin are a cassic metal band, and it's a balad/soft song. If anything that proves my point, as it shows metal has more sides then just the steriotype of 'i hate everything'

Tbh, i listen to a lot of music, like my favourite bands atm are Lamb of God and Children of Bodom (i go through phases of favourites) but i also love Queen, Deep Purple and Rainbow etc... and thats what i meant about LedZep, they were what metal was in the 70s, but its diluted compared to todays 'metal' so it gets pushed under classic rock...

I gotta say that I love the spirit of this video, but metal is pretty mainstream nowadays. Opeth, LOG, Cradle of Filth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Megadeth. Hell, even really shitty metal like Disturbed and A7x is popular right now. At least in America, I assume you're English since you're talking about chavs. By the way, I love that song, I'm definitely looking that up.

From my experience of being a metalhead for 9 years, you only get crap when you're a kid. And because you're a kid, you're going to get crap no matter what - it's part of growing up.
I'm 21, and I haven't been properly insulted for being a metalhead since I was 15. Grow some balls, hold your head up high, keep in mind that a lot of chicks dig long hair and leather, stop avoiding crowds, and those 'gangstas' will stop showing you 'hate'.

Also another metal band with a black member is God Forbid, met the vocalist (Byron Davis) after a Lamb of God show which they opened for, guy was very cool.

metal takes plenty of talent to write songs, just listen to Amon Amarth... they do such a good job with the viking theme that i feel like i'm on a ship ready to fight an epic battle when i'm simply driving my car to work. It's all about the theme and imagination, metalheads use their heads for thinking too not just headbanging. and screaming? no, no, no... it's growling, i can scream... my mom can scream but it takes some talent to growl well enough to do it through an entire album.

I'm into so much rock music but don't really like that kind of "metal" such as dragonforce, trivium, bfmv etc which is basically, as you said, playing very fast. And you're wrong btw about Led Zeppelin being classic rock. They are heavy metal pioneers! They were the original heavy metal.. Bands like Zeppelin, Danzig, Metallica, Deep Purple etc. Just thought I'd let ya know :) Anyway cheers for the video.. I get that abuse from chavs everyday...

Tbh, i listen to a lot of music, like my favourite bands atm are Lamb of God and Children of Bodom (i go through phases of favourites) but i also love Queen, Deep Purple and Rainbow etc... and thats what i meant about LedZep, they were what metal was in the 70s, but its diluted compared to todays 'metal' so it gets pushed under classic rock...
But really, genres mean nothing to me. It's all good =]
