For a pug to stop jumping it's easy to turn your back but when it comes to me I have a 145 pound 1 year old Great Dane so my back kinda feels sad lol :(
its always possible to train, the trouble is we are too lazy! I dont mind my dog jumping but is now causing issues with my dad who has had a stroke, will now try again!
It doesn't matter what you do or say, no one could train my collie to calm down or stop jumping...she has behaviour issues, hence why the farmer who owned her before me wanted rid of her -.- she's hardwork at times but you can't help but love her <3

If you turn your back on your dog, that is enough for a second or two, it is just like a NO, a negative marker for what you do not want him to do. The next moment you must show by your style, way of moving and attention what you WANT him to do together with you: be calm with calm relaxed movements and your social sphere low there where you want the dog to remain then. A dog is not a machine, a dog behaves like your pal who values relaxed sporty ways instead of nervous agitation.
When your dog is just a puppy he jumps up and you reward him by playing with him, that's Wrong, you should just as in this nice vid. ignore that , and reward him when he's calm :)
A dog is your family , your friend, threat them that way, not like you would be the boss , don't punish your dog for normal dog behaviour we humans don't like but reward him for good behaviour that we like, it's the best and most friendly way for you and your best friend :)

my neighbors dog jumps up. but theyve trained her to go down. you just say ''down'' or ''down maddie'' the name.
