Was that the diaphone from the Aviation Hose Company of the Bronx or Edgewater Park? I am pretty sure that Edwater Park had a diaphone horn as well as a Model 2... not sure what Aviation had.
Since you got it working without the horn, it would be interesting to measure the sound level in dBC with and without the horn from a distance of 100 feet. This would give us a good indication of the directivity index of the horn by how much it increases the SPL on axis. It would also be interesting to do the same tests on a Thunderbolt siren.
nice man...btw, thnx again for the info on the S-203. I now have 3 Ferry horns and 2 train horns. And i actually go a brand new S-203 for aeounf 500 dollars. Ill be posting vids soon =)
idk lol, the guy i bought it off of had it and he didnt like the sound of it. So we made arrangements via paypal and we came to an agreement of aprrox. $569. Didnt come with air tank though =/ im waiting for some to be delivered soon to me.

@MrTomMasterVideos
Spinning is just an effect of vibration. Diaphones are a unique type of horn which uses an air-driven piston to generate sound.

I usually associate diaphones and other horns with volunteer or call companies. What would this horn been utilized for in the Bronx?

it uses a diaphram in side a preasure placed 1/4 mm over a hole when air is added to the inlet port this causes a resonating effect
