@popiconroro Screw his classic stuff, his soundtrack work is fantastic... ELO kicked butt on the Xanadu soundtrack, but these Electric Dreams songs are better.
@lienweeliang I bought the soundtrack on tape in college, and the second I got home I cranked "Madeline's Theme"... my friend walks into my room and says sarcastically, "Awwwww, is this beautiful?" I wanted to hit him.
I can remember buying this single when I was 17 years old. Now I'm 45. The song sounds great like the first time I heard it. Jeff is truly a legend. His musik will be forever greaat.
cmt007 I'm really glad this isn't a movie clip. thanks for the tip upfront. i loved the movie but its great to hear for the first time the song upfront instead of behind talking.
@ermayo93 That sure is a lot! But if I let my imagination run...Jeff Lynne, Giorgio Moroder and Trevor Horn in one soundtrack...wonder what that would sound like ;-).
I fell onto the gravel on Jeff's driveway when he lived at Walsh Hall in the centre of England - many years ago - and tore a hole in my jeans. And no, I hadn't been drinking.
The guy with the beard (who ISN'T Jeff Lynne) is Bud Cort, who did the voice of the computer in the movie. You may also know him as Harold in Harold and Maude. He doesn't actually appear in Electric Dreams but at least he gets some face time in this video!
@wmschroeder I have seen this movie twice. The first time in Puerto Rico on a summer on a Friday at 9:00 in Telemundo Inc. PR. and I got suck in my head. Finally i got it. Last Saturday I watch it after almost 24 years.
oh my god I have been looking for this song for years...wow...thanks for putting it online..what a song..it takes me back...love it........love it...love it...thanks...xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.i send u kisses even if you are also male like me..but not in that way..you just made me very happy thats all..
@jlbuttazzoni This LP was a soundtrack. Jeff Lynne wrote two songs to it.This one and Let It Run. They were in the original LP Electric Dreams. But as far as I know Jeff Lynne had nothing to do with the movie itself but these songs only.
I love the progressions in this song. Long live beautiful melodies over intelligent 8th-note synth bass!!! Live for it. This is one of the better examples of it. For the rest, go to Ultravox.
Remember this song when it was released in Spring 1985 and even managed a poor quality copy of it at the time. I think it was in the film 'Electric Dreams' which was out the previous year and spawned the UK top 3 heat of the same title for Giorgio Moroder and Phil Oakey (of Human League). The ELO hit 'Calling America' (which came out in early 1986) was an almost identical song) to which Jeff Lynne is the lead singer.
Cool, you can tell which bit is from Beatles Forever! You've all heard of Jeff Lynne's 2 contributions to Electric Dreams (Video! and Let It Run) but have you ever heard his third song for this film? It's called Sooner Than Later and it was released as the b-side of this song. Does anyone know where to download Sooner Than Later cos I have the other 2 songs.
I'm glad you uploaded it so I could hear it again, but compared to other ELO songs, this sucks doesn't it? This seems like a filler song. Like something you'd throw together really fast because one more song is needed for the new album.
Thank you for posting this. I had forgotten all about this song until I stumbled across Electric Dreams being shown late one night a few weeks back and it all came back to me! Definitely the best song from the film.
This song is so awesome. One of my top Jeff Lynne songs.
