A true car fanatic would appreciate both machines because both are awesome. Ferrari is great for it's pure, exhilirating expierence it can give and raw simplicity, Porsche on the other hand had an amazing technology combined with everyday usability that is today a common idea behind many supercars. Similar performance achivied in such a different way.

Car and Driver road test from the 80s: Porsche 959 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, Ferrari F40 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. The F40 has a higher top speed, but the 959 with its 4wd correctly wins the drag race. 2 awesome cars though, brings back some memories from when I was MUCH younger!

In 1987/8 my father's colleague took me as a passenger in a 959 that was to load on a ship (GER -> USA). I was a boy of 10 years, we drove 1 km only, but the love for this car is still there today, though 8 years later I loaded hundreds of standard Porsche myself. I still remember how the curvature of its lateral air intakes feels, or the slightly rough surface of the exhaust pipe, or the leather roof lining... Porsche or Ferrari? It's a matter of taste! The F40 was run cold. 1) Temp gauge at 3:25 was pointing at 70 degrees at the same time the tach showed 6K RPM, 70 celisus is still cold for a car. 2) The gearbox in that car loosens up as it gets warm. Had it been warm, he wouldn't have had trouble shifting it during the race. 3) It's made for TV folks, the producers wanted a race with tyre smoke. Warm tyres are sticky; cold ones aren't. I'm sure the owners were paid well for their cars. Just enjoy the show. They did it for you-

the thing with the one is simple: italians use kmh and the difference between 198 and 201 mph are three mph. 3mph= 5kmh. so the italians probably didn't said 201, no more, but they said: we have to make a car that is 5 km/h faster than the 959. and the conversion from km/h made the 201...
