  • Its making my ears bleed.

  • There's a video of this song played at 125% speed. There's also a lot of talk about how much harder the drumming would be.

I think you're the guy to show us 125% speed bleed on drums!

  • Hey can you please tell me what cams and tension etc. u got there on the eliminators

  • you are the first person to play Meshuggah on the suitcase

  • sick!!

  • lol you got pretty much confused. I don't blame you, very few could bear this with enough stamina to beat it smoothly.

  • messuggah?

  • @TheB3h3moth meshuggah

  • it's simply a herta, really fast.

  • Holy hell that's got to hurt, that suit case probably has no rebound.

  • @AddisonThEdRuMMeRBoI why would it hurt then... my BD has no rebound and it's fine

  • ur awesome...and u cant do it perfect imagine how good is messugahs drummmer

  • Ma allora tu sei dio. Grandioso!

  • hehe. The suitcase sounds awesome! Also. nice work, a few misses here and there but really nice job working the bass.

  • -Daddy, can i get drum kit?

    -No

    ---

-I told you! You can't have a...ah...fuck it, I'll buy it tomorrow...

  • How on earth do you get singles that fast? In any way are you using heel toe? If not, what's the technique that stops you from tensing the muscles when you try and go faster.

And please don't say practice... need to know what to practice...

  • @taikogroove It's practice, it's that simple.

  • @MikePostDrums But I said please don't say practice. You obviously practice something. And you didn't answer my question about the heel and toe. It kinda looks like you're using heel and toe.

  • @taikogroove I'm not sure about the heel-toe, but either way.. it does come down to practice. No one is going to play this song at this speed at their first try. It took Tomas Haake 6 months.

  • i did this with the LRL-L pattern

  • @ImPrEtTyGoOd13 Is the left foot your dominant foot?

  • Fck yes.

  • what makes this pattern so tough is that its a basic "herta" pattern but with the feet keeping in that constant is tough.

  • my buddy was complaining about not being able to play some songs cause his drum kit sucked. I showed him this video.

  • @WillyWonkaIsSatanic made my day:D

  • 5 star mate.. u did it almost as good as haake.. :).. could you play on a drumset from the beginning to the end of the song, non-stop..? thanks

  • i love the wheelie chair plus linoleum floor haha :) well done bro

  • You're using the case as kick/"training pad" that's quite cool, I'd like to try that too so I can drum without disturbing my neighbours. How do you get the pedals to stick to the ground like that?

  • thanks so much, favved! without you i would never had figured the 2:20 part out, thanks alot!

  • eliminator?

  • @methane yes

  • i remember bringing my double pedal to work so i could practice for the competition!

  • Holy shit, I always thought I was decent with rhythm, but I ain't got shit one this. LMAO

  • Metal Suitcase

  • Great man!

  • Poor suitcase!

  • was it hard to do all that on a rolling chair? haha

  • Is that a DW suitcase? Or a Pearl? I can't tell.

  • dude sweet technique, took me ages to learn this thought i had it but theres a few things im missin but your vid helps heaps

  • Nice, I just found out I have a drum kit at my home too! Now I just need to buy some pedals, and it's done!

  • this technique is just perfect!!!!

  • geez that suitcase does sound pretty sick

  • Firstly, you're a fucking insane drummer.

Secondly, just to clear it up, each '-' is a 32nd note rest, yes?

And also, how many years have you been drumming?

  • @Shruikan117 Think like R(32)L(32)R(16)L(16) Repeat. Don't know if it helps, but that's how it is written.

O yeah, tempo: 115 fourth notes per minute

  • @Andy97009814

I'm a music major, and ive never heard them called fourth notes.

    Quarter-note anybody?

Also, guy in video... is good. Good work lol

  • @ChairmanSDS Of course, my bad. English isn't my mother language....

    And yeah, he is.

  • for people who cant afford drums suitcases work ,,, lmfao xD

  • playing double bass...

    ..against a suitcase..

    ..in your kitchen..

    ..sitting in a desk chair...

    epic

  • @DD8081 ONLY BEAST PLAY SUITCASES!

  • This song is a ridiculous test of your chops in your feet!

  • what speed is it?

  • So is it just 3 hits, pause, 1 hit, pause, 3 hits, pause etc.?

  • @Villex93 No, the video is misleading, it's just a whole bunch of hertas, which is a rudiment consisting of two notes of a certain value (ie. 32nd notes) and then two notes of precisely half as much (ie. 16ths). The whole pattern the song is based on is two 32nd notes and then two 16th notes.

  • @Steve128967 Ok thanks.

  • Fuck you. This is awesome. But fuck you.

  • Pearl Eliminator P2002?

  • good job my bro

  • screw the bass drum, i'll use a suitcase from now on

  • @labigithastaetmeadam hahahaha i use a suitcase for practice

  • it must suck if you lose rhythm

  • You're the only person I've seen to cover this song and do it correctly on YouTube....everyone else made tremendous asses outta themselves.

    Props on that

  • @dubgreen76 UgE ....

  • SUITCASE !!!

  • Comment removed

  • is this heel-toe technique?

  • You need a new drum head, this one sounds dead ha.

  • @smiththefrank thats because its a suitcase

  • Epic!

  • sqeak sqeaky sqeak squeaka squeak... squeak

  • You make it look way too easy.

  • Can you please give some mic placement tips for using the suitcase live? Also, when you use the cases while touring, do you have to use other cases for transporting them? Do the Asian or European cases work best?

  • I don't understand how you managed to do this in a rolly chair.

  • @Claggy - yeah...very tough to understand why he isn't rolling backwards...but that can probably be explained by his balance and center of gravity as he's playing. Good form goes a LOOOOOONG way man. Imagine his foot moving in a more up and down motion, as opposed to pushing the pedal which would cause the rolly chair to move backwards. Pushing the pedal comes from bad posture and being off-balance while you sit. Then again, he could have something behind the chair stopping it from moving.

  • @DeLL116 Both are good points, haha.

  • Are you sure with the pattern at 2:20? I mastered it but it won't fit in the song =/

  • sick xD

  • I think i'm going to quit drumming after watching this.. This is insanity.

  • damn this guy makes it look easy lol

  • How do you get your pedals to flow so easily? What types of pedals are those? I have Iron Cobras and I'm a relatively new drummer (a few months now) and for the life of me I can't get a good nice flowing motion out of my ICs. They are the Power Glides but I don't see why they wouldn't at least some some sort of flow to where I can get some decent speed? Do you have high tension on your pedals?

  • Yay for drumming on a wheeled chair...

  • Ive seen some people do RR-L-R-LL-R-L... which is harder I think, thats the technique im working on. Awesome feet work bro.

  • You can try that or get some bionic legs XD

  • WHO LET THE POLYRHYTHMS OUT!?!?!

  • I really hope this dude has a drumset..Fucking sick

  • How long you practised that to get it perfect ? I'm on the forth day now and still don't get it tight..

  • @oOoOViperOoOo i saw an interview with tomas haake he said it took him six months to get the whole song perfect

  • How are you managing to not roll around on that chair...

  • Omg great job, I think the best on youtube

  • nice dood

  • RLRLR, but take out the 2nd L and make the last R an L

    then you get RLR-L

  • Hey are those the Pearl pt-100 pedals?

  • The whole RLR-L thing is just hertas. Just like you would play on your hands.

  • to be honest i really hope u can som how slow it down... its hard to understand with your foot moving lightspeed

  • cool shoes

  • AWSOME JOB BRO! THIS SHIT IS BEAST! LOVE THE SUITCASE!

  • FUCKING AWSOME BRO! LOVE THE SUITCASE! THIS SHIT IS BEAST!!!

  • Comment removed

  • that is awsome and the best technique ive seen

  • Hey man your technique is awesome! great vid easy to understand

  • nice u should use ur case as bass drum !!! that would be cool

  • what double bass technique are you using?

  • small messup at 28, but I couldn't do 1% of this song without fucking up bad. you're amazing

  • I commented before but re-visited this now and would just like to comment on the awesome heel-toe in shoes on standard pedals on a triggered suit case.

  • @ryder187mac the suit case is not triggered... is its original sound :)

  • @kosmadrummer no way! wear did u buy such an awesome sounding case? , get me 1 of those ha

  • @thickpooxbox360 That's a case that comes with the Pearl Eliminator PC-2000C/B series pedals.

  • @ryder187mac lmao! @ a triggered suitcase

  • Comment removed

  • the footwork isnt the problem my friend....the problem is playing the song correctly with the ghost notes on top

  • fucking precise friend, good job

  • lol I watched this twice before I realized you were banging your bass pedals against a backpack... And it actually sounds pretty good

  • what foot pedal do you use?

  • i love how your playing on a suitcase...thats hilarious LOL

  • you got great sound out of that suitcase

  • I still dont understand this. When I play what you have written as RLR-L etc. It just sounds like straight 16ths. What does the "-" stand for?

I know Im playing this wrong, and I would appreciate if someone could explain this to me.

  • @BloodPython67 @BloodPython67 - is a 16th pause. IMAGINE ONE OF SUCCESSION 32TH ... But someone takes it off.

    o = beats

    () = pauses

    oooooo

    will change:

    ooo(o)o(o)

    therefore:

    RLR(o)L(o) = RLR-L

  • @kosmadrummer i think its like 5/2 on feet and just 4/4 on hands

  • @jerepoeka I'd say it's like 4/4 on pedals and a 3/4 rhythm in disguise as a 4/4 rhythm on hands. Or whatever :D

  • @basement94 My gut feeling after the first few listens was what jerepoeka said, and after a million more listens I still think its 4/4 hands and 5/2 feet. As long as you can play it though, it really doesn't matter, right? haha

  • @KingLightDividing Well, guess you're right ;) And it is actually not that hard to nail that rhythm.

  • @kosmadrummer ( o )( o ) Breasts.

  • @kosmadrummer 1. isnt all that a triplet beat itself?

and wouldnt i get the same sound if i played straight 8th triplets and just add that off that on the triplehit thing? so that i have

    RLR-R-RLR-R-RLR ?

  • @kichermann you could do that, but it is much more tiring on your right leg to do that for the entire length of the song, thats why you spread them out evenly between both legs

  • @kichermann Too bad this song is in a duple feel.

  • @kichermann Ya but it's more tiring for me. If you can do it then feel free (:

  • @kosmadrummer This is actually a phenomenal explanation, given the fact that you only had text to use. Btw, this completely got me to understand the rhythm! Kudos man! And thanks for the post!

  • @kosmadrummer This is a hybrid rudiment. It is called a herta. Do a google search of it and you wind it easily.

  • @BloodPython67 It's called a Herta, a hybrid rudiment.

  • @BloodPython67 its a herta. if you have ever marched before that rudement is called a herta. look up hertas. its very complicated to explain in text but its a marching snare rudement. i would learn it with you hands first accenting on the snare hits.

  • @BloodPython67 think of it as a triplet, you must accent the last L, EX) rlr-L, rlr-L, rlr-L, think triplet.

  • @BloodPython67 There are two 32nd notes followed two 16th notes, it's called herta, there are lots of videos explaining it on youtube.

  • it's just herta's on the feet.

  • Man, that's cool, I'll try to practice this, thanks man!!! \m/

  • How the FUCK can you drum on a rolling chair?

  • man, you got some amazing calf muscles. holy shit!

  • I wanna see a video of this song on a full kit! :D

  • @Tryshaaa

    and after you see?

  • @UnsichtbareSchatten

Do explain what you mean :P

  • @Tryshaaa

    sorry (sorry tua)

    :/

  • That's fucking insane

  • Thee hardest song to play on the drums ever

  • I thought Tomas Haake played it LRL - L

  • office wheely rolly chair ftw!

  • O.M.G. -_-

  • Are those pearl eliminators? 2002?

  • If you were God, I would so become religious! Amazing my friend! :)

  • @kingjamie721 I'm not very religious ... I locked my god ;)

    thank you anyway!

  • Very, very cool! I also like the innovation of using a small suitcase as your kick. I have been thinking of blowing $50 on a Gibraltar practice pad. Now I'll look around the house! Thanks, bro! I'm inspired.

  • bien!! oye tu estas usando los powershifter eliminators no? i son esos me peudes decir como puedo hacer para que el pedal esclavo (izq) quede igual de suave que el derecho? esque por mas que intento no lo puedo poner igual :S

  • you are a champ. fucking beautiful. btw, aren't those shoes heavy? cuz if they are you are even a bigger champ. lol.

  • @dannykahun grazie dei complimenti ;)

  • hahah is that a suitcase for a base pad? great fuckin job btw

  • are you using hell toe?

  • @sliprok100 yes, with my right foot

  • This is fickin impossible....

  • @mettalx1 Nothing is impossible, almost...

  • thats amazing dude

  • @thewonkis thanks ;)

  • this video shows just how hard it is to play this groove and make it swing rocksteady for 7 minutes. tomas haake looks so relaxed when he's playing it it's uncanny

  • fuck yeah, yer a badass

  • put some oil on those springs!!

  • AWESOME job man

  • is he beating the shit out of luggage here? forgive me as I"m not a drummer, but I LOVE THIS.

  • the only video that i have seen on youtube putting all of it together...holy crap

  • This is fucking ridiculously amazing. It does feel a little off at parts, but I won't dare to criticize you. I'm not a drummer but even I can hear (and understand) how fucking hard this must be. You're great.

  • Thats fucking nasty an imitation of a god

  • ur fricken rediculous lol

  • hats off to you my friend

  • hardest part is... playing sit on a chair with wheels.

  • Do u use heel toe in RLR-L-R-L?...Cause i got the whole song...but this riff is the bitch ..cant nail this particular riff.

  • Cool... but i have a question, that pedal is an eliminator isn't? but are you using the case to practice? =O how can i do that!!?? i think it moves side to side but in the video it don't move!! how can i do that!! please tell me xD!

    and... that beaters are...??

  • thats sick man

  • this is fucking sick, god bless your coordination man! xDD

  • i can only play the first pattern. lol. practiiiicccceee

  • This song basically takes everything hard about drums :Speed, stamina, coordination and poly-rhythms and puts them all into one 7 minute song

  • man it's going to be a while for me get it down on the pedal riffs. thnx for showing how to perform the song w/ those pedaling techniques.

  • How do you have your pedals set? Ie tension beater height and angle and what beaters, they look heavier than normal elims to me, Im looking at getting these in a few weeks. Sick job also man!

  • i bet that suitcase is just about ready to BLEED now....

  • Holy.Fucking.Shit.
