  • Friendster is gone now... it's a game site lol

  • if you are watching the video in 2012, replace 'friendster' with 'orkut'...

  • FAKE! this is a fake video everybody. the bible says earth is only 6000 years old so only myspace and facebook actually exist. everything else is heresy.

  • @o1o1s1 I hope you know your fancy little book has been proved scientifically wrong. I'm pretty sure dinosaurs existed more than 6000 years ago.

  • @redwingfanfl

Arghh! Curse you humorless internet atheists, with your inability to perceive jokes! Curse youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

  • @Jcolinsol lol Poe's Law

  • For whatever reason, Friendster has become a gaming site instead of a social network...

    Odd.

  • trolls and the combined natural disaster known as "you got Rick Rolled Beyoch!!" may have contributed to the friendster downfall.

  • all or aool, oh man i lold so hard

  • I just made an account out of curiosity... does that mean that I've tampered with evidence?!?!

  • @TzipporahElizabeth lmao yeah you did

  • @TheYouwontgetit It was a social networking site until June 2011, although it was inactive for years beforehand. 2009 is before 2011.

  • I went to Friendster after watching this.

  • i copied and pasted this from wikipedia

(Since the relaunch of Friendster as a social gaming platform in June 2011, the number of registered users has reached over 115 million.)

looks like this civilization has risen from the ashes

  • this reminds me of the deep web...

  • 1:11 lol standing by his discovery.

  • Internet archaeologist - well, that's our inevitable future

  • ...I feel bad after seeing this video for still using an eMac regularly

  • @citykidyo you're right. and it's look like shit

  • did anybody even use friendster >_>

  • Twenty-o-four A.D.? LOL

  • 4chan

  • Myspace

  • Soon to be found are the remains of something that used to be called FACEBOOK

  • Napster

  • newgrounds

  • six feet under rocks

  • One time, I came across the remains of an ancient site known as ICQ. The flowers were dead.

  • DIE Facebook...

  • Friendster? No one uses that site. MySpace took over, then that ended. Now Facebook is the big networking site. What's next?

  • @LotsaSpaghetti84 Google+ I hope.

  • @Dintinosanto What the hell is Google+? I use Facebook, and I'm happy with it, as are millions of other people. Facebook isn't going anywhere. All those Zynga web browser games are too popular.

  • @LotsaSpaghetti84 What is Google+? Try... Googling it :D

  • @LotsaSpaghetti84 Well Zynga games can be played separate of the site.

  • @LotsaSpaghetti84 lol yeah cuz ppl are always satisfied with what they have, and google doesnt already have something popular for every other thing u could possible use the internet for

  • @LotsaSpaghetti84

    Pornhub.

  • @101hew Fuck twitter

  • @101hew doubt it

  • I wonder if Facebook was built by the descendants of Freindster?

  • WTF

  • They need to find Myspace.

  • No, MyFacester was the Bookspace killer.

  • hahahaha i didnt even know what friendster was until this

  • i'll never know how they keep a straight face doing this. haha

  • I loved Six Feet Under! LOL ;-)

  • LOL

  • Every 50,000 years, the "reapers" leave dark space and enter the internet, wiping out advanced social websites before leaving without a trace.

  • @tremapar Don't you mean every 50,000 hours?

  • @tremapar Too much mass effect

  • @tremapar Ah yes the 'reapers'... we have dismissed this claim.

  • A G4 iMac as the forensic tool, priceless! :D

  • I just lost it on the bit about the shins, this video is fucking hilarious.

  • Has he considered the possibility that the Friendster civilization was destroyed by a rival civilization called Facebook? THe facebook civilization is know to have destroyed an older people called Myspace.

  • @JayCKat Here's what happened: Friendster came around. Friendster was killed by Myspace and a few years later, Myspace was killed by Facebook.

  • CORNY

  • I can't believe it. So friendster was real?

  • Did he find friendster on an ancient 1st Gen IMAC? That is awesome! 1st GEN IMACS now priceless artifacts!

  • I still dont know how Zuckerberg beat up the powerful myspace and the leader Friendster. Its shocked me how facebook has just won so easily.

  • @Pentdad

    yea its suspicious somehow...

  • @chang55555 Facebook to me is nothing special. It isn't an 'incredble idea'. Im glad Zuckerberg has the cash and not some huge corporation, deep down this nerd is a good guy who in the end will leave loads to charity like Bill Gates... But still, what is the big difference between Facebook and all the other social network sites that were around in the early 2000's? Just the fact that you 'invite' friends?

  • @Pentdad

...? Talking to me? I dunno know man.

  • @Pentdad CIA fundings, perhaps?

  • LOL

  • Mark Zuckerberg commissioned the findings.

  • I'm almost in tears.

  • I found myself strangely intrigued and wanting to find out what caused the extinction event, all the while my brain was screaming something about something being fake. I'm so confused now.

  • HUGH JUPP IS A RAPIST HE KILLS JEWS

  • "But then, out of the BLUE, the civilization just ended and the site was completely abandoned."

Sounds like a Facebook reference (which is really what killed friendster where i come from)

  • I'm a survivor of that early civilization.

  • @TheIronRuss woah

  • @reejaw2 Yep. I'm witness to the destruction of friendster.

  • @TheIronRuss Lmao ha what the heck Lama

  • @TheProject941 You forgot Bebo!

  • Oops I went to the site and altered it before I got to the part where he said not to...

  • i blame the rise of the tyranic myspace

  • Idiocy is great

  • and in so many years internet archeologists will find myspace. assuming they give a shit enough to make an expedition.

  • I remember our family were like the first of most people I knew to get Internet. We got it like '95 or something. I was like 8 at the time. Didn't Discover all the porn that was there before the age of 12 though.

  • is that green website really friendster , did the fucking sell their domain. WTF

  • @tashtan1 Hahaha! XD Good post.

  • I wonder what will happen when they stumble upon the ruins of Youtube in the future...

  • secret, myspace is not friendster, I do have an account in myspace before and added Imeem, but not until imeem was gone and myspace is not my typical favorite social networking site..I still prefer friendster and facebook nowadays...

  • Myspace is friendster lol!

  • What about the lost Geocities?

  • For years now, I've been searching for the fabled ruins of Earthlink.

  • this is first time i heard of this FRIENDSTER..

  • I guess that would actually happen to facebook in 2800

  • they must also find the ruins of "imeem"...

  • hehehe, I am still using my friendster account and it's true, some are only using it now...but still I am proud using it...even if I also have facebook account now...

  • LOL - so fuck*in funny.

  • so this was the primitive ancestor of Facebook.

  • @KlassicStrat72 Yeah but back then we just called them "Assholes" and "douchebags"

  • Was friendster financed by the CIA too? Maybe everyone finally figured that out! ;-)

  • i wonder when they might find the ruins of the civilization of the group of myspace.

  • Does anybody STILL have Friedster?? lol i created one today out of pure boredom, i have a facebook (who doesn't? lol) & i just feel real sad for friendster :( lolz i know it's popular in Asia & some parts of the USA, but can't find any people to add (or even have one...) So if you do, TELL ME! XD i'm actually trying to see if i can find anyone with friendster :o

  • @albinocify I don't think anyone would have a Friendstir because pretty much everyone ditched those sites including MySpace for Facebook and Twitter.

  • @PsychoticBibliophile lol yeah i know :( i also have a Facebook and Twitter :D but i still look around! lol

  • I can only imagine what an internet archaeologists do for a living.

  • Friendster's final users left only string of cryptic 'I'm rick james bitch' messages XD ROFLFALAFFLE

  • just read the text in the "Journal" it's freaking fake!

  • anyone heard about mIRC?

  • i still go on friendster

  • According to Wikipedia it's still pretty popular in Asia, not that americans care anyway.

  • @Luthrus no americans could care less about this thing you called "Asia"

  • Equally as historic is the term AOHell. Referring to the quality of service experienced by AOL users.

  • Comment removed

  • 125 people are survivors of the Friendster Civilization.

  • @KlassicStrat72 LoL Word....

I use to have aol..it sucked

i'm glad I got off dial up..IT FUCKING BLOWS!

  • @KlassicStrat72 I heard AOL use to MAIL letters to your home if you used too much vulgar language in the chat rooms. Is that true? Lmao

  • My dads really old computer still has AOL

  • netscape was the first HTML base browser back in 1994 just around the time runescape was inventid

  • @geekconnection Have you ever seen that short series that talked about netscape and the browser wars? It was an epic show if you like technology and its origins. It's called "Download - the true story of the Internet" There are 4 episodes that I know of. The first one is browser wars. If you haven't already seen them, go check it out. You'll find it on iTunes.

  • lol an ancient civilization known as Aal or perhaps Awoul

  • I'm looking for an ancient relic known as a "dial up modem"

  • The internet used to be free now its being commercialized

  • i used to steal and use to the free 1 month AOL floppy disks back in the day. aahh good times

  • The "Owl" or "Ao'ol"...ROFLMAO

  • I got to see FRED the movie advert? Before this. I fukin give up.

  • @KlassicStrat72 Hello, Mozilla, Netscape, and Internet Explorer would like to speak with you.

Newsgroups, ICQ, and millions of websites would also like to note their offense at being grouped with 'random chat rooms' as the only thing to do on the internet.

  • @KlassicStrat72 I guess if you want to play a definitions game that you can set the rules for I would say what you're thinking of as as the 'mainstream use' would have come about after the the web came to be in about 1990. If you're 21 now you weren't even 3 or 4 by the time many people started viewing information on personal computers at home and at work on a web browser in a manor similar to the way we do today and didn't experience the beginnings of what you think the internet is.

  • @KlassicStrat72 ... also, I didn't look in your 'channel' as you really aren't that important/interesting, and I don't see how living in NJ makes you any less completely wrong.

Arrogance is thinking that the internet only became important once you started using it. You are 21, wake up, the internet was here long before you.

  • @KlassicStrat72 basically, you claimed that AOL was the only browser around at the time which most people know to be completely false. If you are referring to mainstream browsers, then netscape navigator was probably one of the first to be used enmasse, internet explorer came a bit later and basically drove them out of business. AOL was way after then. You also keep referring to 'internet', when I suspect you mean 'world wide web'. Both are very different....

  • @KlassicStrat72 you weren't even born during the internet's "early beginnings". AOL as a browser was created about 20years after many other browsers.. wtf are you smoking.

Just because you were the first person in your village to own an 'electronic computery device' does not mean you were on the internet from the start, quite clearly you have only seen its later form.

  • Friendster was one of the first popular social networks, but it was eventually replaced by MySpace, which was then replaced by Facebook. Shame for not knowing internet history!

  • @AndrewNoNumbers

Yet somehow only Facebook got a movie made about its founder.

  • speedy cash, fuck you, and fuck you in youre eye mother fuckers...no ads on you tube assholes

  • myspace's next

  • @johnnyreality myspace is already gone, its facebook now

  • @johnnyreality What's myspace?

  • @ONLYBESTVlDEOSFORYOU Myspace was an ancient monotheistic religion, based around the Creator, Tom, who no matter what you did was always your friend. People associated with one another by use of a "Page" or in layman's terms, an altar which displayed the many secret desires and joys of one person, which was another tenet of their people. After some time, a new polytheistic cult known as Facebook, offering "walls" and an agricultural "farmville" to draw people in. Myspace died out as a result.

  • @Bachinator009 May I use that in my history report about Myspace ruins?

  • @Bachinator009 shit... that's deep.

  • @KlassicStrat72 I remember playing 'Gemstone' on AOL, which was a text-based game (or MUD) that you had to pay for by the hour. I didn't play it long. It was kinda like World of Warcraft, but without graphics of any kind.

  • Shit this site is old. I've never heard of it.

  • "Friendster's Final Users Left Only String Of Cryptic 'I'm Rick James, Bitch' Messages"

    LOL

  • awesome.
