  • 55 dislikes. WTF? Even Bach would have pressed like here.

  • PERFECT !!!!!

  • Genius!!

  • Incredible!

  • Normaly I don't like Bach so much. But this is simply incredible.

  • @AikataraSan Bach had 9 kids, and some of what he produced was just to pay the rent, but his best stuff is utterly sublime.

  • @gamesbok Maybe I should get to know more about Bach :) ....

  • esto me hace sentir tan genial, todos tendrían q escucharla alguna vez. viva martha!

  • nice

  • I love the part where she plays the piano!

  • martha, i love you!

  • she is a dream

  • ...MARAVILLOSA...

  • que lindo que toca esta señora

  • I love that she left her gray hair natural instead of coloring it. It is so earthly and shows that talent and a life worthily lived is much more important than vanity.

  • @ViolinValia eitherway, gray hair makes her look epic XD

  • What dark sorcery is this, witch?

  • Awesome!

  • FASCINATING PERFORMANCE AND TALENT!!!

  • i love her :)

  • this is nutssss!!!! the coordination tempo is perfect!!!!!

  • Magnificent!

  • love the way she takes the sunflower and looks at it thinking, great what am i going to do with this.

  • A bit gouldish, in a good way

  • now....to learn it

  • It is wonderful the way she plays the Capriccio.

  • best bach ie heard x_X hands UP!

  • wow martha, in my opinion, has the perfect finger form for a pianist along with Cziffra. Great wrists, and strong 4th & 5th fingers

  • Martha, sua linda!

  • bravo !!!

  • This woman inspires me every time I hear her play this piece! Incredible!

  • Bravo!!!

  • I love her choice of dynamics :D Awesome playing 100/100

  • @612curtis Surreal performance, she is so extraordinary here it's hard to put words to it - more like 1000000/100 :-))

  • She grabs your attention from bar one and never let's you go. Absolutely brilliant.

  • Her hands are soo natural and flowing!!!!! Beautiful

  • It's TOO FAST! in this tempo you can't "understand" the tunes.... i think Bach never imagined that in this tempo (maybe only Mozart played in this tempo:S)

In the baroque music its very important to form attentive tunes, and articulating, but there's a a lot of "ugly-formed" tone.

It's just for impress the audience with fast playing

  • @SchallingerArtur

Yeah sure. Tell her. They should slap her for being so lame, fire her agent and hire the first "couldnt get a job in finance" raging douchebag bitching about how TOO FAST she is. Oh, I'm sorry, that would be you.

  • @SchallingerArtur That's funny... I can "understand" the tunes perfectly, all of them. It's a Capriccio and she plays it as such.

How can you know what Bach imagined?

I'm pretty sure that, at this point, Argerich is not looking to impress the audience with how fast she plays at this point in her career.

  • @SchallingerArtur : Professor Schallinger I have been used to playing this piece at a slower tempo. But, of course, the playing of any composition is to 'essay' on that which has been committed to manuscript by the original composer. Compare the Brahms Cappricio in b minor. The writing is more complex and the tempo as a consequence slower. David.

  • @SchallingerArtur you think this is fast?.. youtube her playing this as an encore at zurch 2001, just youtube her name and zurich and you will find her playing this at twice the speed... anyway im pretty sure shes not worrying about playing fast for the audience in this point of her career. it's just your personal preference you are putting on it..

  • znakomite

  • What a performance! Nice info Oskar!

  • Good Lord, her Bach is a masterpiece beyond all measure!!!

  • Awesome playing.TY medicitv for posting

  • This is just pure awesomeness... I love it.

  • most stupendous performance of capriccio EVER!!!!

fire, emotion, depth, colour, she has it all....

Even Glenn Gould's rendition sounds mechanical in comparison.

    Bravo Bravo Bravo!!!

  • How can someone seriously press dislike?

  • @divyx Parkinson's disease

  • Bach is my favourite baroque music composer!!Martha is also one of my favourite pianists! Perfection!

  • me encanta esta obra genial

  • A master at work!

  • Comment removed

  • Well, her first teacher was Ernestina Korma de Kussrow. Then, at eight she started with Vicente Scaramuzza, with whom she built the real basis of her technique. Friedrich Gulda taught her for about fifteen classes, after what he told to the press that he had nothing else to teach to her. Madeleine Lipatti, Nikita Magaloff, Stefan Askenase and María Curao were also her teachers, prior to Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli.

  • ... still beautiful, still plays like a goddess. :)

  • Quina meravella!

  • When I hear this it makes me really want to sit down and learn this piece so I can play it like this, but when I do sit down to learn it, it's so challenging it takes much out of me to just learn the notes!!! Nevertheless I will persist! This performance is my inspiration.

  • a left handed piece...

  • LOL - this made me laugh out loud - so jaunty!

Can just imagine her teacher telling her - you wilful girl, that's not how you play Bach!

God bless you Martha. ; )

  • @roquefort88888 hehe.. you dont know her teacher xD

    its friedrich gulda

  • @agniky

"hehe.. you dont know her teacher xD

    its friedrich gulda"

    -

"The terrorist"? Haha - I didn't know that!

    Well that explains a lot doesn't it. ; )

  • Martha, I love you. You put my world on steroids.

  • Strange to hear her swinging along on bars 11 to 14 (Gm, C7b9, Fm, Bb7) 16 seconds in, but I suppose it is a "Caprice" :-) Wonderful posting - thanks!

  • Who says that Bach' music makes little grils spleep ?

  • is there a music sheet for this version?

  • BRILLIANT! Think i'mma do this for grade 8!

  • I like very much the argerich's Bach. Not the rest, though

  • To the guy whom coughed around two minutes in to the performance... Fuck you.

  • I meant, Argentina, mediocre in soccer, great talent in classical music...

  • Mediocre in soccer, good in classical music...

  • i don't know why i felt a strongly loneliness in her this performance

  • she's gives a breath of fresh air to bach

  • This is the definitive "Look and Learn Kids" video..power to Martha

  • La única palabra aceptable: MARAVILLOSO!

  • Nothing can compare to how Argerich plays this (the whole 2nd partita)! Absolutly stunning and my favourite version, probably till the day i die :)

  • Martha should be giving master classes to the rest of the bunch of pianists at Verbier.

'medicitv' please post more of Martha :D

  • wow green hair - very gaga

  • @LohengrinT martha is wayyy beyond gaga, i love gaga and i've seen her in concert but nothing can compare to the splendor of this woman

  • @xxcocoloco

how can u compare the two women - Martha is a legendary piano virtuoso of the lvl of Richter and Rubinstein and Gaga is an ultra mega Pop Star, ruller of the Universe, supreme Alien Being and gatekeeper of all known dimensional portals :))))

It is just that Martha's hair here turn green and that makes them look fab :)

  • Y bueno, es Argentina

  • I love how she's like "Okay. I'm done. Time to the fuck out of here."

  • ...the toss of the mane and a sunflower...I want to see Lang Lang try it...

  • Genial !!!

  • 1:19

  • There are good pianists, there are excellent pianists, and there is one Glenn Gould. Only one towering over all.

  • I agree, she has a perfect skill, but I think Bach should be different

  • impecable

  • That's what bach should be played....less personal, less emotional, more philosophic, more rational and more divine.

  • AMAZING! LOVE HER!

  • Wow - amazing!

  • Just beautiful!

  • I so love Martha!

  • 47 dislikes??? how??? this is possible the best interpretor of baroque music!

  • You can't eat a meal without salt AND pepper! Look at the keyboard :D

  • partita 2 is about sorrow...

  • The difference between a legend and a pro is enormous, and this lady is unbelievably spectacular! I aspire to be at least a pro at what I do and I am greatful for such inspiration to dedication :)

  • She has such an awesome sense of style :)

  • mad skills.

  • i love your hair :)

  • Her hands are inspiring. Athleticism, precision, balance. Can't wait to meet her (Her)

  • The god on the piano ! soo god excist !!

ooww what does she play divine ..... LOVE HER !!

  • IMPECABLE MARTHA!!!!!!!!!

  • A genius is born once in a thousand years, so you will have to wait another 700 years, Issac Newton was the last genius, nasa use his knowledge everytime there is a launch . NEWTONS LAWS (windynight)

  • Just playing the notes doesn't count for much. It's the clarity and definition of the various lines that make it worth playing. This is not the most difficult of the partitas but they all offer something special to the player and the audience when given the attention they deserve.

  • @porta123stella Ok i mean i play the piano for more than 10 years and i couldnt play the italien concerto like a professional( logical..?) but i think it was quite nice and i can listen to my record even after a good record although it isn't perfect but its quite beautiful :D

so iif you think this isn't really more difficult i will try to play that maybe after summer holidays ( when i've done a few other pieces from czerny :D)

  • If you can play the third movement of the italian concerto, you'll have no problem with this.

  • 2,000 likes! Woot!

  • I've a little question to someone who played this. How difficult is it ? i love that piece but I'm not sure if I have a chance to play that with my technique right now.. is is it comparable with the technical level of Bachs 3d movment from the italian concerto? (last piece i've played)

  • 47 people are def

  • GRANDISSIMA!

  • Very very beautiful :)

  • stupefacente

  • Anyone else getting a crazy cat-lady vibe from her?

  • Happy 70th birthday, Martha!

  • what's there to dislike?!?!?!?!?!

  • @audioliquor Nice music... thosse 47 thing hihop is the best this world have seen lol

  • Mio Dio, è stupenda!

  • I don't think Bach himself would have changed a single thing about this performance... She even gets a bit jazzy at times, personally I like the subtle swing it has to it.

  • Exelente!todo!

  • WOW

  • Martha c mon amour de la vie!!!!!!!!! <3

  • omg shes soo old now :(

  • Marta..te debemos tanto. :)

  • Having seen this for at least 100 times, I can attest that she and her performances are immensely beautiful :-))

  • @Bret6464 "She" and her performance.

  • @SpringInTheSchool TY - Love Argerich, not just her Bach, her Chopin and Rach are surreal :-))

  • The best piano play ind world!! Wooow

I lov`it .. Martha you are the best..

  • soooooo clearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!

  • Absolutely out of this world. The performance of a true Great, a Master, an Artist. I've always loved her, but this is just sensational musicianship. I think it's the first YouTube video I've ever watched again immediately. Stunning.

  • Majestic

  • Her control of the dynamics of this piece are stunning - and her hands are magnificent -

  • This music was not composed for piano before all ... harpsichord sounds so much better ...

  • @violinoamore I agree especially in how the lows are so much more punchy. With all of that in mind she did a great job on piano though. Reinterpretation for piano can add or take away from Bach so it's very hit or miss. Romantic interpretations almost always take away though.

  • mmm not my favorite interpretation, as it's a bit "bangy" for my taste. i prefer her prior recordings... however, good god, those hands are amazing! so much control and such command and authority.

  • Just bach

  • I could make some nice bow strings out of her hair

  • LOL why was she given a sunflower rather a bouquet

  • Bach partitas are the most beautiful pieces compossed for piano.

  • 42 people disliking this video have no ears at all...

  • @classicforever1 This music was not composed for piano before all .... cemballo sounds so much better ...

  • She's dressed like a crazy cat lady but plays like a pure genius

  • i really, really wanna be like her...!!!! :)))))

  • you hear Friedrich Gulda out of her playing !

  • She plays Bach like a rockstar.

  • wow!

  • She is the best, she is Argentinian.

Just like Messi is the best soccer player.

    :)

  • This woman is a fhenomenon, playing a lot.

  • 40 deaf people did not like this video u_u

  • Love you so much!

  • love it!

  • Astonishing! A thing of beauty to see her play <3

  • wow!

  • I love how her Bach swings <3

  • @3Annika7 Funny, I was about to ask if she's swinigng on this track or if I only think that because I'm drunk. But there really is a swing feel to her playing, isn't there? It reminds me of Grappelli and Eddie South's version of the Bach Double Violin Concerto.

  • where is the full partita in c minor of martha? :(

  • why is Drake considered a musician?

  • why does the whole world watch sports more then this???

  • @pree710 Sports are far easier to understand and to appreciate. This is like climbing to the top of a mountain to see the beauty of a rare flower when watching sports is like going to McDonald, Burger King, or a doughnut place.

  • @pree710 - An excellent question! I wonder about that myself. I suppose it's easier to sit and watch stupid sport with your brain in neutral than nourish it with fantastic music such as this.

  • Arguably the world's best living pianist. TH MEDICTV FOR POSTING

  • I JSUT LOOVEE THE POLYMONIC-NESS :D

  • @36beachbum after hearing her play this piece, all other renditions of the capriccio sound dull and lifeless to me :)

  • DEUSA!

  • simply brilliant. how on earth does she coax such sounds from a piano?
