I love that she left her gray hair natural instead of coloring it. It is so earthly and shows that talent and a life worthily lived is much more important than vanity.
It's TOO FAST! in this tempo you can't "understand" the tunes.... i think Bach never imagined that in this tempo (maybe only Mozart played in this tempo:S)
In the baroque music its very important to form attentive tunes, and articulating, but there's a a lot of "ugly-formed" tone.
It's just for impress the audience with fast playing
Yeah sure. Tell her. They should slap her for being so lame, fire her agent and hire the first "couldnt get a job in finance" raging douchebag bitching about how TOO FAST she is. Oh, I'm sorry, that would be you.
@SchallingerArtur : Professor Schallinger I have been used to playing this piece at a slower tempo. But, of course, the playing of any composition is to 'essay' on that which has been committed to manuscript by the original composer. Compare the Brahms Cappricio in b minor. The writing is more complex and the tempo as a consequence slower. David.
@SchallingerArtur you think this is fast?.. youtube her playing this as an encore at zurch 2001, just youtube her name and zurich and you will find her playing this at twice the speed... anyway im pretty sure shes not worrying about playing fast for the audience in this point of her career. it's just your personal preference you are putting on it..
Well, her first teacher was Ernestina Korma de Kussrow. Then, at eight she started with Vicente Scaramuzza, with whom she built the real basis of her technique. Friedrich Gulda taught her for about fifteen classes, after what he told to the press that he had nothing else to teach to her. Madeleine Lipatti, Nikita Magaloff, Stefan Askenase and María Curao were also her teachers, prior to Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli.
When I hear this it makes me really want to sit down and learn this piece so I can play it like this, but when I do sit down to learn it, it's so challenging it takes much out of me to just learn the notes!!! Nevertheless I will persist! This performance is my inspiration.
Strange to hear her swinging along on bars 11 to 14 (Gm, C7b9, Fm, Bb7) 16 seconds in, but I suppose it is a "Caprice" :-) Wonderful posting - thanks!
how can u compare the two women - Martha is a legendary piano virtuoso of the lvl of Richter and Rubinstein and Gaga is an ultra mega Pop Star, ruller of the Universe, supreme Alien Being and gatekeeper of all known dimensional portals :))))

@porta123stella Ok i mean i play the piano for more than 10 years and i couldnt play the italien concerto like a professional( logical..?) but i think it was quite nice and i can listen to my record even after a good record although it isn't perfect but its quite beautiful :D
so iif you think this isn't really more difficult i will try to play that maybe after summer holidays ( when i've done a few other pieces from czerny :D)
I've a little question to someone who played this. How difficult is it ? i love that piece but I'm not sure if I have a chance to play that with my technique right now.. is is it comparable with the technical level of Bachs 3d movment from the italian concerto? (last piece i've played)
I don't think Bach himself would have changed a single thing about this performance... She even gets a bit jazzy at times, personally I like the subtle swing it has to it.

@SchallingerArtur That's funny... I can "understand" the tunes perfectly, all of them. It's a Capriccio and she plays it as such.
How can you know what Bach imagined?
I'm pretty sure that, at this point, Argerich is not looking to impress the audience with how fast she plays at this point in her career.
