this song is better than 99% of the utter shite in the charts nowadays, this song alone is evidence that the stone roses are indeed the best band in the world
@Eltroim I got this on vinyl from an independent record shop in manchester, don't think theres too many of em about, it's called "the demo album", under "hard tymez productions". the track listing is: A1 Getting Plenty A2 I Wanna Be Adored A3 Heart On The Staves A4 This Is The One A5 Trust A Fox B1 All I Want B2 Fall B3 Sally Cinnamon B4 Elephant Stone B5 The Sun Still Shines some fucking gems on there! ;)
@razmitazzz yeah did you get in the shop in the afflecks palace? coz thats where i got a 12inch god created manchester bootleg with early demoes on it.
@shebangsthedrums89 Nah I didn't get it from Afflecks, bought it from Vinyl Revival, they don't normally have the off label stuff, mainly live stuff but I was really excited when I found this! Sweet yeah are you talking about "The Lord created the Stone Roses" record? I've got that one too but I have no idea who released that, It's got a funny version of Elephant stone on it though doesn't it!! haha all I'm missing is the 12" of Resurrection from my collection, so fucking expensive.
The quality of these songs that never got recorded is stunning. Shame they can't find their way onto a Rarities CD or something. This and the first version of Where ANgels Play, Boy on A pedastal, your time will come etc.
One thing I know about guitarists is that they watch closely other guitarists to see how the make certain sounds...it's obviously derivative of Johnny Marr's style but that can't be a bad thing, can it?
I don't think they pretended to hate the Smiths and what they stood for, particularly Morrissey (one depressing poser, IMO) and the "hate" was mutual anyway.
But I tink there was respect for Marr as a musician.
bullshit., they might have pretended to hate the smiths to set themselves apart from their influences, but no one can listen to john squire without realising he has studied mr marr's lessons very well indeed.
so innocent and bright

Got this on a CD with their early demos called 'The First Coming'. This was the best tune of the lot.

Amazing track. Would love to have heard it with proper production. But even in demo form it's my favourite!

@jreacher79 They play it with total abandon. Agreed.

@razmitazzz Managed to get a copy for £35 from e-bay, complete with original Squire's art print. Worth every penny! :)

Some bits sound like the beatles, other bits like the smiths.
But i think the title is very beatle-esque, they have like a million songs about the sun.
Eltroim 1 year ago
This is fuck all like the smiths who are awesome by the way just like the roses.similarity in awesomeness not sound.

This song is fantastic! I'd rate it up there with Going Down & where angels Play

@coventry35 Beyond me why the song didn't get the full treatment for the '89 stuff.

I doubt it was deliberate. The Roses hated the Smiths!

Those pics are killing me. Nice guitar, reminds me a bit of Johnny Marr, but I think probably is a coincidence.
