Simple scenarios... not lights or things like now... BUT the Talen was everything... This is a real classic... @RocketRivasHR I'm with you there mate - Blackmore the guitar virtuoso and Lord the keyboard king - without them Deep Purple just ain't Deep purple no more!!!
@viper88i I don't think that's very fair haha. No doubt Deep Purple and Zeppelin were legendary (it's what I grew up on, my mother was very kind to us), but you're comparing rock music to pop music... you should be comparing Bieber to the B52's and other music that now goes down in history as a bit of a joke.
No one's ever going to be another Kansas or Deep Purple, but as a musician, I have to believe that your generation gave birth to new rock artists who can offer something amazing.
I saw this lineup in their second to last EVER Concert in the summer in Tampa Florida, 1972. Next night they played Miami, then Blackmore broke up this lineup. WHY this video is marked 1973 I DO NOT KNOW, but IT CANNOT BE SO. This must be 1972 or EARLIER. PERIOD.

@heymrpaul Check your dates. The DP Mk II lineup lasted from July 1969 until July 1973 with no changes. This video is from Hofstra University, Long Island NY on May 29 1973. The final Mk II gigs were in Japan in late July 1973, and were released as the Made In Japan album. My own first DP show was on March 20th 1973 in Brussels Belgium with this lineup.
I expect your thinking is a year off. They played Tampa on June 16 1973, then West Palm Beach, Atlanta, and Honolulu before Japan.

@grovsnus1 This comment suggests Ian Gillan was the original singer for Deep Purple.Incorrect my friend. In the 60's their original singer was Rod Evans. And Coverdale/Houghes is the best lineup.Gillan is a snobby, hyporite!!

This song is an anthem for the '70s.
I finally saw them live for the first time last night in Calgary.

is this the original line up?
WWFinurhouse 2 months ago
@WWFinurhouse It's not the line-up the band was founded with.
After the three first lp's Rod Evans and Nic Simper were replaced by Ian Gillan and Roger Glover.
But this so called MKII line-up is what many people call the "real original" line-up, and it the most successful in the history of Deep Purple:
Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar
Ian Gillan - Vocals
Roger Glover - Bass
Jon Lord - Keyboards
Ian Paice - Drums
If you want my personal opinion: Deep Purple are not Deep Purple without Ian Gillan ...
