The rig sunk and the pipe broke because they (Coast Guard) flooded the platform with sea water instead of using foam. This caused the platform to list and sink and the pipe to fracture. If foam had been used we never would have had this issue. Again, government beaurocracy fails us.

There should be a law that forces oil companies to use the best equipment possible (like safety valves) for oil rigs. Also: they should be forced to provide a 24 hour safety crew to contain the oil spill once it happens and have the proper materials ready to absorb it, like Encapsol. Brother, you asked for it! We wouldn't have to depend on on off-shore drilling if the Democraps would support oil drilling on the mainland, nuclear energy development and coal mining. If it was up to these primitives we would all be back in the cave, foraging for meat and dressed in loincloths.
Considerring how deep they were drilling, I can see it likely that the pressure may have been something not taken account for when they decided to use a BOP that can compare to those used just 12-14 miles off the coast. And considerring the explosion, there had to have been a patch of natural gas pushing through the string that wasn't known about. Just my own speculation, but I think it's more likely than a conspiracy theory.
I have witnessed a couple blowouts myself, and the clean-up afterwards is a B*tch. It's a dangerous situation for sure, especially for those on the rig floor, and when a tool-pusher (or the company-man pushing him) is trying to reach a mark regardless of a driller's worries, it's a recipe for disaster. Mud comes first out from the line, because mud lubes the drilling process and therefore would be the first out.
What I think is ironic is that no one thinks about the fact that sh*t happens. Having worked on a drilling rig, there is no mystery about the mechanics of the fail that took place. BOP (blow-out preventer) stacks are quite the site if you've never seen one. It's an intimidating chunk of iron designed to perform it's function well, as long as the Driller is operating at safe drilling speeds and paying close attention to his numbers.
This may well be an act of enviroterrorism by the likes of Bill Ayers. Remember who is in the white-house and how the radical left works. America needs to be very cautious and ensure that a full investigation is undertaken after the immediate response efforts conclude. Halliburton is directly linked to the failure causing the spill & explosion. They were handling the cementing process on the rig which burned & sank last week. The disaster, which killed 11, has left a gusher of oil streaming into the Gulf from a mile under the surface. And it's not the first epic fail for Halliburton, either. They screwed up in the same way in the Timor Sea (Australia) last August. It took 10 weeks to control it & they are now being investigated for criminal negligence.
They need to stop telling people it's 5000 barrels...These wells produce closer to 100,000 barrelsa day. The amount of oil leaking (or gushing actually) from this well is much much higher than they are letting on..and the media believe it.
This will be the worst US environmental disaster ever and may become one of the world's worst ever. Oil is slowly killing the planet.

There should be a law that forces oil companies to use the best equipment possible (like safety valves) for oil rigs. Also: they should be forced to provide a 24 hour safety crew to contain the oil spill once it happens and have the proper materials ready to absorb it, like Encapsol. Once again, the federal government has failed! A trillion dollars in tax revenue cannot fix an institution that is run by incompetent bastards.

This disaster reminds me of What I once read in the book of Revelations. @JasonBiochemist Suit yourself. You can get the plans and build it yourself, but I doubt you have the skills to use a screwdriver and wrench. You can buy the parts at the hardware store. If you look at the plans you will see that the 80% water/20% carbon fuel mix passes over the steel rod and then becomes GEET gas. THis gas in then burned in the engine. And yes, you can power you car/truck by genertaor or get the plans for the auto. A home generator is what most people are doing. yt "geet mower"

Then go to the hardware store and pick up a few pieces of pipe, put them together with the tools and start mowing your lawn use 80%water and 20% carbon. Considerring how deep they were drilling, I can see it likely that the pressure may have been something not taken account for when they decided to use a BOP that can compare to those used just 12-14 miles off the coast. And considerring the explosion, there had to have been a patch of natural gas pushing through the string that wasn't known about. Just my own speculation, but I think it's more likely than a conspiracy theory.

I have witnessed a couple blowouts myself, and the clean-up afterwards is a B*tch. It's a dangerous situation for sure, especially for those on the rig floor, and when a tool-pusher (or the company-man pushing him) is trying to reach a mark regardless of a driller's worries, it's a recipe for disaster. Mud comes first out from the line, because mud lubes the drilling process and therefore would be the first out.

What I think is ironic is that no one thinks about the fact that sh*t happens. Having worked on a drilling rig, there is no mystery about the mechanics of the fail that took place. BOP (blow-out preventer) stacks are quite the site if you've never seen one. It's an intimidating chunk of iron designed to perform it's function well, as long as the Driller is operating at safe drilling speeds and paying close attention to his numbers.

This may well be an act of enviroterrorism by the likes of Bill Ayers. Remember who is in the white-house and how the radical left works. America needs to be very cautious and ensure that a full investigation is undertaken after the immediate response efforts conclude. The left is found of violence and this is right out of Ayer's playbook - read the press clippings.
I don't know, but believe that sabotage should not be immediately overruled without investigation.

If this was a blowout, then something went very wrong. These companies are very good at controlling drilling operations and the BOP should have kicked in as soon as they got returns of drilling mud or lost circulation. The explosion was immediate and quite curious to say the least.

I can see the environmentalistas now, "See we told you so!" It's possibly a "Reichstag" moment. and you out there who don't know about that incident, read some history! Look into the "Enabling act" that followed. We may see such an act, when the donkeys exploit their beloved "crises."

Halliburton is directly linked to the failure causing the spill & explosion. They were handling the cementing process on the rig which burned & sank last week. The disaster, which killed 11, has left a gusher of oil streaming into the Gulf from a mile under the surface. And it's not the first epic fail for Halliburton, either. They screwed up in the same way in the Timor Sea (Australia) last August. It took 10 weeks to control it & they are now being investigated for criminal negligence.

They need to stop telling people it's 5000 barrels...These wells produce closer to 100,000 barrelsa day. The amount of oil leaking (or gushing actually) from this well is much much higher than they are letting on..and the media believe it.
This will be the worst US environmental disaster ever and may become one of the world's worst ever. Oil is slowly killing the planet.

I wouldnt hop to conclusions just yet. This is definately bad for Republicans, but it is weird how this happened shortly after Obama acted as if he was going to allow offshore drilling. Im no conspiracy theorist but I will wait to see what is really going on. I mean after all, wasnt the global alarmist fudging data to promote their agenda. Its commonly being referred to as climate gate now. Who was it that said,"never let a catastrophe go to waste."

Where is the Media now that it is 10 days after this disaster that the Feds are reacting.... Where was FEMA? ... Why did an emergency response team from FEMA not appear immediately?
