Awesome playing dave8326, you should check out the original by a guy named Larry Davis its fantastic. If you love SRV's playing Larry's version has some great licks that were a huge influence on stevie, as well as Al and Freddie King, Earl Hooker and Buddy Guy to name a few. Keep up the great work!
Great Playing and great SRV tone! Are you using any effects and are the p90's noisy. I had a beautiful Mohogany Stat but sold it because the single coil noise was so annoying. Also, are you tuned down like SRV.
@Texasblues89 I think Clapton loves it when someone who is a young talent like this guy plays blues rock stuff really well and soulfully. Don't see where that comment is coming from.
damn good job man, I usually don't like gibsons (im a strat guy) but you've convinced me to give them another shot and try out these guitars. Love the gold top
Thanks man. And this actually is a Les Paul 50s tribute. They made the 60s tribute, which has a slimmer neck, but they first made the 50s tribute which has a 50s-style neck. They're essentially the same - the only difference is the neck. I also think they might have made fewer of the 50s tribute.
they say sound comes from your fingers, and if you get such a tone very similar to a strat on a LP then it's a proof that you got talent dude, congrats ;)
Oh yea, the other reason why it's great to learn the master guitar players note for note is to develop your ear. Doing it teaches you how to listen well and how to play what you hear.
It also develops your musical memory because you have to think when you play.
There is nothing wrong with jamming and doing your own thing but it doesnt develop your ear or musical memory. It uses a different side of the brain... the creative side.
10 million kids can jam, but only a handful can do this!
Great job!! For the people who want to know why you learn other master guitar players stuff note for note .......1) because you can! (to the naysayers ...if you could do it too you would understand, but because you can't, you don't get it 2) it's the best way to learn !! 3) you can always do your own thing anytime you want and mix in a little of what you learned ......... Great job again!
i dont get why people learn songs like this note for note. guitar playing is about feeling and soul, stevie played this song differently every time. it sounds good, but would be much better if you did your own thing.
Great job kid. You remind me of myself when I started playing 30yrs ago...sad thing is that you are already better than me. I STILL can't hit that first riff on Texas Flood. I should have taken lessons. Learning by ear only goes so far.
Haha I was hoping someone would notice! I just had to wear it in one of my videos - it's actually my dad's shirt from the actual 1977-78 Farewell to Kings tour! I love it so much! It's my favorite shirt from by far my favorite band in all of the Planets of the Solar Federation!!!
Haha I'm sure I have the same shirt you're talking about. That tour was amazing. My dream is still for them to play 2112 in its entirety live, though. Haha. I love Temples of Syrinx, but I think it just gets better and better. Then again, I have a billion songs I would die to see them play live.
re do this with a Strat brother and get Stevie's real sound!!! your great but a Gibson with Stevie cover's cmon now. You smoke me and im 27 get you a good 50th anniversary strat :)
@1Crisper - SRVs TONE DIED WITH HIM - THIS LITTLE FELLOW ON THE VIDEO GOT A GREAT 'TONE' WITH HIS LP - KEEP PLAYIN' DAVE AND DON'T TAKE STUPID ADVICE!
I bought it off eBay for 1200 bucks. It was worth it at the end. I just saw one at Guitar Center recently but the wood they use for these is obviously like their scrap wood because this one had a HUGE knot in it. I guess I got lucky and got the good wood =)
Great job! Beautifully done! I would agree with the others here, though, that you need to work on the how you deliver part. Blues comes from inside you, man! Let the music take you! BTW - I loved Eugene's Trick Bag - awesome! ♫♫
WOw - Im blown away. Fantastic sounds you are the man. WIcked !!My only advice would be you have so much talent , just relax and feel the music and switch off from anything else. Kia ora from New Zealand XX
