No antivenin available, a single bite can kill you in minutes, and are extremely intelligent ....yep seems like a good creature to keep around the house.
I really appreciate the fact that you feed the octopus live food cuz they're really picky over freeze dried and frozen foods but... feed him crabs or something cuz feeder goldfish tend to cause liver problems to octopuses....Blue ring is bad ass though
Suddenly, having a venomous octopus as a pet seems like a good idea! albeit, a dangerous one, but still really freaking exciting! I didn't even know that octopus's could be kept as pets! That's really awesome! I want a blue-ringed octopus!
Octopuses have short lifespans and are very hard to keep alive in a fish tank/aquarium of your own. Usually it's only the actual aquariums you visit that can keep one alive for it's maximum estimated lifespan. They are very cool and intelligent creatures, but I prefer talking about tropical fish. :)
Could I have one of these legally living in Oregon, USA? I have loved these blue ringed guys since I was young, curious on looking into getting a salt-water setup and one of these. Any information you could throw at me about these would be really cool :) cheers!
Even doing a simple water change can cause a serious rash and even dizziness. Since they don't only kill their prey directly with their venom, but also by simply releasing it into the surrounding water sometimes. Their favorite prey is the mantis shrimp, if you haven't seen them before they are almost as nasty. Minus the venom.
@spriterdude909 I don't recommend you get one--as many commenters have said, they are dangerous! I and my dad have a lot of experience catching and handling fish, safe to dangerous ones. It was caught at Taiwan's tide pool beaches though. The sealife there will vary depending on the currents of the season, but around the summer, blue ring octo will occasionally show.
as you cost?

@MegaZero76 EXTREMELY BAD IDEA. These things are masters of escape. They can escape through anything as long as their beak can get through it.

the saliva is what is venomous, and a bite doesnt mean certain death. Different blue rings have different amounts of TTX venom
