Apparently you have never heard of Jimi Hendrix... the singer. "90 miles an hour girl is the speed I drive" is a line from the Hendrix song Crosstown Traffic.
bobbuse, I've been a medic since 1990.Alabama code states that emergency vehicles can exceed posted limits if on an emergency call and using both lights and warning siren while using due regard for public safety. Ours don't shut off at 86. Company policy is that you will not exceed 10 over posted, but the top speed limiters have been reprogrammed (shut off). They will top 100.(e350's and e450's) I have seen some of the old gas-burners(back in the day)that would top 120. I'll never do that again!
In response to bobbuse, not everyone buys their ambulances from your dad. Mine goes well over 86. Just to let you know. ;) And I will be using, "strap ya big boy pants on! time to light up the night!". That's awesome madXmedic!
in response to richardtpiek in most states emergency vehicles are not allowed to exceed the speed limit, and in that case if you would crash into someone with your lights and siren on you might as well throw your certifications out of the window. In a response to dirtbagdarrell2008, i have grown up around emergency vehicles and my father manages a car dealership. if you say you are going 90 in an ambulance you are the worst liar i have ever seen they shut off at 86 ive tested
Each truck by each manufacturer is different. I'm glad you've grown up around EMS vehicle, but I drive one every third day... usually more because I work two other EMS jobs. They don't shut off at 86...lol. They can go much faster... much faster. And with using "Due Regard" we can do pretty much whatever we want!
DOOD. That must be the slowest response times I have ever seen. I was squirming in my seat the whole time. Why don't they give you vehicles that go faster?
Lets see...lights...sirens....nobody stopping even though you are coming right at them...Yup this is EMS.

That James Brown song is so cliche and overused; get rid of it please thank you. But the video is good.

I have done 100. I was doing a transport on the expressway. It was one of those Euro-vans that look like an ice cream truck.

because that shit gets you killed. Going 90 miles an hour isn't going to do a damn thing except put your ambulance into a ditch or into another car.
