guys, I don't think you're taking their level of intoxication into account. the Madison Scouts or Cadets were NOT shitfaced drunk on the field. these cats were. given that, this is a truly heroic performance.
Ahhh, gang...different formats, different styles, both unique and great on their own.
I don't knock DCI for perfecting one show a year, don't knock HBCU bands like FAMU for their brand of highstepping entertainment. Both do their thing very well, and can coexist.
i really wish people would stop argueing about the marching styles. in the end isnt it just about entertaining the crowd? (in every marching band ive been in thats what the main point has been!) sure one style plays rap and one plays oldies/pop/others. but you cant call someone stupid just because of their music taste. and the marching styles, while different, are both fun to watch (and do!). but this is just one little mans opinion.
eh... i like band :D haha why try to compare at all even? its like apples and oranges. and it's all personal opinion in the end so why argue over who's opinion is more valid? just enjoy the amazing music :)
To all of you that are trying to compare DCI and university bands, there is no comparison!!!! Both are totally different from eachother. I've played in both thats how I know there is no comparison!!!! I'll take DCI ( old school DCI that is) over university bands any day for one reason, DCI is competition, university band is exhibition!!!! So see you just cant compare!!!!
and its not meant for your regular halftime shows at football games. And i was joking about the loud part they have different styles of musicianship. And plus it takes much talent to march in a corps desired style of marching.
@hohan195 wait did you just say no rythm? and no visuals??? you are crazy dumb! this takes not as much tallent as Dci i mean its mostly park and blow with high mark times...Dci was like that back in the 70s now we RUN and march try doing that and have twice the power of this band
@KauaiBallerof2012 ok.but whos gnna sit there and watch a boreing ass halftime show?!?!?!?HBCUs are more entertaining.and they also dont march like they have a cork shoved up their ass...and also ALL dcis are not louder than this....HBCUs are better all around.high steppin, sweep 45s and and all that is harder than "running".the musician ship of DCIs are somewhat higher than some HBCUs...but stick with your DCIs and ill stick with HBCUs
@hohan195 So you believe that flinging your leg up and down and moving your hips a little is harder to do then jazz run and march while rolling your feet and lateral sliding? Really? You haven't a SINGLE clue as to what you're talking about.
No Rhythm? Did you watch Racine Scouts and then decide about DCI?
Talk to me when you're band can do something other than shitty hip hop music.
@lij2015 but in all honesty, which is more entertaining?people would rather watch a dance routine and to enjoy songs that they know..and moving your hips"a little?"are you kidding me?and "flinging your leg"is harder than power walkin.DCI's are boring to watch, and boreing to listen to.id rather hear songs that i know and enjoy them then listening to some lame ass d.c.i. drumline warm up,or space chords.(just to use those for an example)..stick with your power walkin and "dipping" out loud
@hohan195 You mean no drum majors jumping around like idiots, bad tone quality, and little to no complexity in drill?? Yeah, DCI doesn't have that stuff.
@hohan195 Do you know what DCI is? I'm not sure, because you obviously don't know what basic spelling/grammar is. Not trying to sound like a prick; Drum Corps and Marching Bands both have their ups and downs, but you don't have to be such an ass.
Played Kind of Slow, Not a lot of movement in the Notes, Very clean though, the percussion part could have been writing a lot better, no real dynamics. But Understanding the show style format, I would say that they did damn good Job!!!!!!!
I don't know if they're actually doing a drill to this song? Anyhow, in my humble opinion, the Michigan Marching Band does a better job than FAMU on this song. They actually perform thir s while doing a drill. I beieve their version is also faster. FAMU seems to being playing rather cautiously. And, Yes, the Madison Scouts do a phenomenal job on this song. Way better than FAMU.
@MrOu83 what you ppl fail to realize....that DCI PRACTICE YR ROUND....which mean they dont lay off their horns at all....meaning again right after the DCI season end in the summer they start right back up with auditions....and plus "EVERYONE" in DCI are professional....
@meat3456 No, everyone in DCI is 21 or younger, meaning they're in college or high school. They're all pretty damn good, but not necessarilly professional.
@hebrewhammershabbat like i stated b4....."dci is yr round....once the season is over they start auditions right back up".....especially for drummers....right after dci indoor drumlines start up called WGI....so there is no stopping marching band for them....
@hebrewhammershabbat They also don't play 50-100 tunes memorized etc like FAMU. Why is it so hard for folks to give credit....FAMU is a phenominal program and one of hte best collegiate marching band programs of all time.
@MrOu83 they didnt do a drill to this song. every for the Florida classic BOTB they would pull something like this out to prove to their rival band which is Bethune Cookman University that they hav skill. also this is the same version DCI plays but the percussion part is different and the only difference is that they are playing it slower.
I agree with porkboi, NSU has been playing this for a while along with other songs like Camino Real. TnSU has also been playing Maleguena as a fanfare for a while as well. Good job!!! *thumbs up*
@treattep not true, NSU has been playing and finessing spanish marches and the like for the longest. Not to discredit FAMU of course because they sound phenomenal...

this isn't the same as the DCI version only because of the excess instuments used, like the saxaphone for instance

Seriously, don't talk about DCI if you don't know what your talking about. You sound very uneducated on DCI
