i loved this show!! my first pony I owned I sold back in january after 8 years. the lady I sold her to trained with Frank Madden at Beacon Hill for 7 years. the Madden's (Frank and Beezie) have been my role models since I started to ride 9 years ago. anyway, they're amazing!!!

-sigh- yeah you have to be loaded to do these shows, no less ride at these barns with these trainers and own these horses. a lot of it has to do with talent too, you could have the most money in the world but if you can't ride, you won't get anywhere. money can't buy you everything...but it can certainly do a lot for your chances.

Maybe so but if there's no connection with the horse, your ride will fall apart. I don't show at that level no, but I HAVE been in big shows with over 150 people in one class and HAVE placed, not because my horse rocks or was expensive - because he's not, he's only $5000 - and not that we pored tons of money into it, but because I worken with him and I know how to ride him

Im inclined the agree. Yes, I did believe in my horse that he would take me somewere.Yes, I had faith that I could retrain him as a mina maclay/childrens horse. But unfortunatley, it was a lack of money, and lack of youth in him. Its nice to think that way, and I truly believe that you CAN make it with a 'normal' [i.e not 50k spent] horse.

I agree with you totally! You don't have to spent a whole bunch of money to ride in the Maclay and have an expensive horse, it really takes passion and love and understanding to make it. Some people just want you to think you have to spend thousands of dollar to do something like this when you really don't.

um...i have to agree with shelbyyyx that many horse riders are rich but my family is not rich at ALL! but I stll ride..it is mostly in eventing that the lesser wealthy people ride but in hunter ect. more of the rich peeps ride =) but idk much about horses so dont jump down my throat =)

uhhhh, I do the hunters/ low level eq and I am very farrrrrr from rich. But I have a great horse and thast what makes me able to compete as well as I do. Its not the money, Its your drive and determinatoin, yes some i of its money, but certanly not all of it.

in the eq, yeah there's a lot of money going around. but if you have the drive you can do extremely well. my very good friend placed in the top five at medal finals last year b/c she works her ass off for a very prominent trainer and thus gets really really nice horses...now she's at college showing intercollegiate/uset and doing amazing. yay!
