Very underrated film. I loved the original but this movie was very impressive too. Sylvester Stallone showed wonderful acting. The same with Miranda Richardson, Rachael Leigh Cook, Johnny Strong, Alan Cumming, John C. McGinley and others. "Get Carter" is my personal favorite Stallone movie in decade 2000-2009
2000 to 2001, 2001 to 2002, 2002 to 2003, 2003 to 2004, 2004 to 2005, 2005 to 2006, 2006 to 2007, 2007 to 2008, 2008 to 2009 - Count the years and tell me exactly how that's 10 years?
I saw this movie for the first time the other night - and this specific scene was really excellently executed. Stallone shines, that girl is genuinely in tears and he offers consolation in his way...his tough guy way.
The entire movie was superb. I just saw today the original 71 with MC - loved both films.
Long time ago I did something very wrong and since that day I felt like garbage. Until one day I just couldn't take it anymore and I decided to go to church for the first time in years and confess with Father Frank (the best in the world). For some reason, the scene on the terrace with Stallone and his niece reminds me that day and I just can't stop crying. POWERFUL SCENE!
Yes the big difference between the 2 movies is that in the first Michael Caine's tough guy character is still very understated- and that is what creates such a tension- the feeling of anger welling up.
Sylvester is more in-your-face super tough guy and that is what spoils it.
It is a remake of a British 1971 film also called Get Carter starring Michael Caine. Caine joint produced the 1971 film which was heavily influenced by the 1967 Lee Marvin film Point Blank.
The scene in the Stallone(2000) version, where he is watching the CD of his niece getting raped; towards the end of that scene, just before he drives off, theres a very catchy tune.Sounds like its in Portuguese, or some African tongue or smthg. If anyone knows what the hell Im talking about, plz tell me the name of that song. Would be grateful. Thx. Great movie. The original isnt too shabby either!
WE do make mistakes, and fall down, this movie WAS amazing its jus my opinion but this SPEECH could not be written any better. GOOD JOB 2 THUMBS UP!!!
"Get Carter" was a remake of the old "Get Carter" wherein Michael Cain plays Jack Carter. I believe the remake was a good remake; it was different and not just a "carbon copy" of the past flick. And Cain was in it too. So it really was a good flick. Herc T.
Everybody gave the remake a bad rap because Stallone was in it. But the truth it...it has plot. Forget the "flash photography". There is plot here and good acting. It's good to see Sly and Rourke together. And it is a remake, but not a clone. So it is different. I've lived the night life and this film catches it right to the "T". Herc T.
Three Excellent Videos from ResidentBourne, the Rourke Stallone fight scene; the end scene of Get Carter and the Elevator scene were removed from You Tube? Why? They were awesome! ResidentBourne does a good job keeping it real and it keeps being taken out. C'mon guys. Leave the guy alone. I loved watching the end Scene and the fight between Stallone and Rourke, as well as the elevator fight. Post it again man! Herc T.

The fact that he's an Italian called Carter goes to show how pointless this film is. Cane vowed never to watch it.

Can you believe they cast Stallone as a Michael Caine character??? Good as Rambo but come on boys what the fuck were you thinking. Junk.
graybermann 2 years ago
Caine was apparently supportive of Stallone (an old castmate from Victory) in the title role.
I loved this film...lot of relevant issues covered and the fikmmakers hit the Seattle scene pretty well.

Man, I agree. This is an underrated flick. Big time.
Michael Caine thought Stallone made a great "Carter."
I think Carter's tough-guy persona makes this scene powerful, and everything he does after it full of emotion.
