Izzy didn't wanna feel dictated to by axl, and while getting clean, his bandmates' continuing drug abuse and partying scared him and alienated him. Plus, he didn't feel Matt fitted in like Steven did. So I think he felt really isolated, and that he wanted out already while working on the UYI stuff. He cleaned up way before any of the others, maybe as early as late 89. Oh, and both Axl (at least to some degree) and Slash have largely disowned their criticism of what he did in the later years.

I remember jumping over at least 3 rows of people when the band came on, lost a trainer near the front, was very, very fuckin lively up at the front. I do remember the toilets were 6 inches deep in piss and that trying to find your mates after a piss was solid. Also even though I was a massive axl fan I do remember being impressed with izzies singing, this is a particularly shit song though! the use your illusion material on was shit and with band bickering fiinished this once awesome band.

I talked to some relatives of Slash at the tube station after the gig they had VIP passes on so I know they were genuine.

GN'R was a bomb of time since the beginning. Thing is it got to explode eventually but those 5 guys managed to stay alive in the end.

But Izzy didnt enjoy for how big Guns N Roses had become & the endless pressures that came with this- this was one of the reasons he left. he likes to do things low-key & his solo records & tours have been done in an off the radar kind of way.

Becoming a control freak doesn't help much too. Giving Izzy a contract to sign in order to cut his percentage of royalties down. Pretty fucked up. Once Izzy gives him the finger Axl tried to convince him not leaving the band.

I recall listening "Shuffle it all" on the radio for the first time and felt happy for him. To this day still listenng to his latest itunes releases.

Glad Axl finally released his music as well.

@Papatorrejano, according to people like Lon Friend who got the chance to observe Axl closely before & during shows & talk to him on the subject, Axl started shows late because he refuses to go on till he feels 100% ready. he's a nervous performer & he refuses to give a half-hearted, "lets get it over with" gig. he has had to pay late fee for violating curfew for decades. if he was a typical "rockstar" only in it for money, he would have chosen the MUCH easier option & gone on early.

@Papatorrejano @Papatorrejano, it wasnt just Axl who complained about Izzy's apathetic approach. Slash said that Izzy's work in recording UYI was so half-hearted he had to re-record many of Izzy's parts. Axl's contract to pare down Izzy's percentages was probably meant as a shock manuveur.

Slash said in 1993 that he "never liked playing with Izzy". apparently tensions ran deep in the line-up & it wasnt all centered on Axl either.

its great that Izzy kept releasing music-he's very talented.

@Papatorrejano, exactly there were tensions from day one and as i said they existed among individual band-members, not just between Axl and the others. for example, Izzy citing Slash and Duff's wild drug/alcohol abuse as one of his reasons for quitting and Slash proclaiming that he never liked playing with Izzy and found his style very irritating.

however, the trend for the media/many fans is to blow up Axl into some cartoonish monster and never look at factors concerning the other guys.

He didn't mention anything about that in his book.

It was Axl and Slash and probably Duff too. Of course the BIGGEST reason that Izzy left the band was because he wanted to get clean of drugs and he couldn't do that in the band because Slash was a hopeless heroin addict and Duff an alcoholic. Izzy left for his health.
