Love is beautiful and worthy no matter what package it shows up in! Besides that, it is a private matter and people should not be able to vote on whether or not two adult people in love should be able to get married. Since when do we vote on stuff like this?

Bless you Kate and Sheila! In decades past, inter racial marriages were outlawed, women and blacks did not have voting rights. This is the same bigotry that still exists today. Goodness, I just cried my eyes out. How can the "freest" nation in the world be so constricting? It is absolutely unfair and unjust that these hard-working, tax-paying people do not have the same rights as others. I'm not gay but I STRONGLY believe in equality. It breaks my heart that my gay friends (and strangers) who are in loving monogamous relationships can not do the same things as I. Beautiful video! A web article said they were together 5 years when this happened. And it's not about "needing" to get married. Do straight couples "need" to get married? No. It's #1 about love and #2 about civil rights and equality. Also, people have been civil rights activists for a long time; it's only been recently that things have begun to change. That's why there has been such an uproar in recent years.

I know what the importance of marriage is. It's to have rights and equality in society, it's a status thing. If same-sex marriage were passed in all states then their would be more acceptance for same-sex couples. Looking back in history if someone just gave up on woman's rights when it seemed impossible, then we couldn't enjoy the freedoms and jobs we now have. Same with blacks, they'd still be second class citizens too. U can't have total equality, but it's possible to get full rights.

This to me is a non-issue. If you don't agree with marriage equality, don't marry someone of the same sex! As a school teacher, I don't ever recall reading/citing the words..."with liberty and justice for ALL" and seeing the word, "except". Separate but equal does not, has not and should not work. We can not "eenie meenie miney moe" through our neighborhoods and point to who is allowed marriage or not. As a christian and American, I am for equality, love, and acceptance to all human life.

I'm a proud Californian who supports same sex marriage. One of the first to vote for the bill. If I were gay, I'd be doing this same thing! Good for those women for demonstrating their right to the same freedoms other citizens have!
