  • can you weld steel by adding oygen?

    nice work.

  • @stormcrow70 No , unsucessfully tried several times , with Oxygen , and no way , just brazing with bronze or silver rods . Also tried bubbling HHO into Gasoline and still cannot weld ( read WELD ) steel , I can braze it without troubles, but not weld it

IF SOMEBODY HAS THE TIP ::: PLEASE LET ME KNOW !

  • Que gas esta ulizando. ?

  • YES acetone disolves PVC , you should use PPL

( polypropylene) , Acetone makes brazing easier , mainly when brazing cooper or bronze to steel , seems as steel needs additional carbon

  • i have to try this , also i forgot to ask what size gap on your cell do you use ,i have found that a 2 mm is better then 1 mm

for what we use the m for,it allows more current to pass threw the elite

  • Hi.. well I am using 1.2mm , according to my experience , gap is just a matter of more or less NaOh , you may use 1mm. 2 mm or 3 mm the only difference is the amount of Naoh you will have to use , think as the water+Naoh as a liquid resistor ...

But you use 2mm, and ...what was better for you with 2 mm? may be I just did not realized the advantage ..

  • hey friend i was watching this vid again and noticed i did not answer your question, the reason i get better results with 2mm gap is becuase i try to get the max output from a cell,, meaning i ad up to 50% by volume naoh to the water, using to much naoh causes secondary reactions,, a purple susbtance is created , so with a wider gap better elite flow takes place providing optimum cell output

  • Yes 100% acetone, and that makes a real difference, the bubbler is SS 304 , I tried acrylic and PPL ( polypropylene), without success , even check valves stops working after a few days with acetone, because affects the rubber diaphragm. You may use gasoline for a much bigger flame, or kerosene for a smaller cooler but highly stable flame.. best regards Daniel

  • i have never seen a flame act so lazy on an hho ,i mean if my torch isnt issuing

a jet it will pop out ,very nice work i assume the acetone does this, any way

i must rty the acetone as it seems to increase the specific heat of the gas,and perhaps shields the weld as you say thiers no need for flux,,,great work i have to try this,,does acetone dissolve pvc

  • VERY COOL!

what type of brazing rod are you using? are you using any flux?

stupid questions, i am new to brazing/welding..

    thanks

  • Hi hhtech. When acetone is used in a secondary bubbler , you can braze steel with a bronze rod without flux , just heat up until red and when you see a red -orange tiny fluid lake , touch it with the bronze rod and will run like water .. .If you dont want to heat up the piece that much, use a 2% silver rod and flux ( borax) , and touch the piece with it just before becomes red .

  • very interesting, is the second bubbler acetone only? or a mixture

i suppose this would have to be a steel bubbler, would an acrylic bubbler be disolved by the acetone?

    thanks

  • Looking good man ...

  • Yes, the cell is a 7" x 6" 20 Neutral plates between Pos and Neg, with 5% of KOH ,

    17 amps and 35 volts

  • Will the solder withstand KOH?

  • Yes one of the torches has 2 flames.. because just one is too long and thin for most tasks

Thanks for your comments .I am working on the flame´s color too.. but still cannot find a good enough dryer

  • Some torch builders are also making a very effective dryer out of a green Scotch Brite kitchen scouring pad that is crammed into a threaded removable top or bottom flashback arrestor instead of using bronze wool. Then after each torch use they unscrew the top or bottom and take out the scouring pad to air dry it.

  • Seems to be easy... I will try it !! thanks for your help !

  • wow is that a double flame torch,,,very nice this is a very usable feature as it will

not fry the joint surfice as easaly, it looks realy cool also

  • Yeah man for a couple of bucks it works great , been using that for over a yr now ....

  • this method of using scowering pads sucks its not a gas dryer ,yes it nocks down spray but vapor is not adsorbed by sponges ,not vapor pressure vapor that is

yes steam will condence but vapor pressure vapor is not steam ,and to call this very effective makes me wonder

i have seen them they do help but if you whant dry gas you need chemicals

  • A beautiful work of art put to the sound of beautiful music. And a nice yellow and sometimes greenish flame too.

Although it actually looked like 2 flames. Is that because you can braze faster by heating up more area with a larger flame ?

Great job and thanks for sharing just how versatile an HHO torch can be.
