I believe i will go to eternal nothingness after i die. in fact i think everyone goes there. No hell nor heaven. Just your soul and conscious in nothingness.
it has nothing to do with beliieving in God but with you heart deciding to live your life for Him and then also having faith that His son Jesus was a real person who was also the son of God and really died as a sacrifice for our sins
@stretchem100 Hey, I'm a Christian, but I don't go around telling people they're going to hell. You're supposed to encourage people to bring the to salvation, not tell them they're eternally damned. I think you may need to check yourself a little before you post any more comments, because it also says in the Bible that you will have to give an account for every idle word you say...
They wrote it based off of Luke 16:19-31. Which is about The Rich Man and Lazarus. When The Rich man was burning in hell after they both died, he asked Abraham to send Lazarus to fetch him some water to cool his tongue. Abraham said that when they were alive, Lazarus was tormented and the rich man was living in luxury, but now The rich man is being tormented, and Lazarus is comforted in Heaven. Aside from that, there's a CHASM fixed between Heaven and Hell, so that no one may cross over.
By what Jesus said about the rich man and Lazarus, did Jesus teach torment of the wicked after death?
continue...
Is the account, at Luke 16:19-31, literal or merely an illustration of something else? The Jerusalem Bible, in a footnote, acknowledges that it is a “parable in story form without reference to any historical personage.” If taken literally, it would mean that those enjoying divine favor could all fit at the bosom of one man, Abraham;
; that the water on one’s fingertip would not be evaporated by the fire of Hades; that a mere drop of water would bring relief to one suffering there. Does that sound reasonable to you? If it were literal, it would conflict with other parts of the Bible. If the Bible were thus contradictory, would a lover of truth use it as a basis for his faith? But the Bible does not contradict itself.
The “rich man” represented the Pharisees. (See verse 14.) The beggar Lazarus represented the common Jewish people who were despised by the Pharisees but who repented and became followers of Jesus. (See Luke 18:11; John 7:49; Matthew 21:31, 32.) Their deaths were also symbolic, representing a change in circumstances. Thus, the formerly despised ones came into a position of divine favor,
and the formerly seemingly favored ones were rejected by God, while being tormented by the judgment messages delivered by the ones whom they had despised.—Acts 5:33; 7:54.
that the water on one’s fingertip would not be evaporated by the fire of Hades; that a mere drop of water would bring relief to one suffering there. Does that sound reasonable to you? If it were literal, it would conflict with other parts of the Bible. If the Bible were thus contradictory, would a lover of truth use it as a basis for his faith? But the Bible does not contradict itself.
just because you don't believe in god... does not mean you have to be scentenced to hell... believers in god do stuff wrong aswell, so dont think yous are more important. everyone is equal, just some choose to believe or not to believe. i personally don't believe in hell, nor heaven, but i like to think ill go somewhere nice after i die. so stop arguing. -.-
@LoveIsWritten1 You should stop thinking that you will go somewhere nice when you don't believe in anything (heaven or hell) what do you think will happen?
@LoveIsWritten1 If you don't believe in God then there is no place nice to go when you die. The nature of not believing in God means that you don't believe in a nice place (Heaven) when you die because Heaven and Hell are God's creations. Also, people who call themselves Christians and don't live like it will be held accountable by the very God they say they serve, so no need to worry about that :)
@LoveIsWritten1 I dont believe in heaven or hell but i go to a catholic school, and the church teaches that you can not be neutral toward God. You are either fully with him, or against him. I think all religion is a load of bullshit but as far as the Catholic beliefs go, if you dont believe you will go to hell.
so um howcome a person who doesent beleive in god but has done nothing wrong have to go to hell but a person who rapes and beleives in god go to heaven cuz if u ask me thats freaking messed up
@WORMIE4456W Everyone does things that are wrong. The only difference is believers repent to God and are therefore saved, and well... the others don't, and are thus sentenced to suffer in hell.
Nope. Christianity is not. You can believe in God and not be a Christian. Satan does (I'm using the Bible here). Its a matter of accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.
@jesusisawsome1000 i dont know bout alot of thing you wanna know why cuz most of the shit in this world is bullshit but i do beleive in god hey do animals have souls? oh and you know thos old family bibles that they used to have my family found on its in my room
@WORMIE4456W People who believe in God and rape aren't going into Heaven. Whoever told you that LIED. Believing in God isn't enough to get you into Heaven: "Be Holy because I am Holy."
Um.... why did this awesome band, now seem to make a turn to trick me into thinking it's a christan band. This is like the second song I heard about religion from them on this freaking album.
@Sensitive313 well they don't advertise themselves as a christian band, but the meaning in their songs are christian-based and I believe all the members are christian (?)
I'm an atheist. Yeah you all probably hate me, but I do have morals. And I like this song...please don't respond to this comment if your just going to talk about how I don't know what I'm doing or how I should believe in Jesus Christ. I just want to enjoy some good music...
@GreatFlamingPoop if I was an atheist I would not have morals, I would not see the point of doing good, I would want to take advantage of every situation for my own personal gain. So my question is why do you feel you need them? I don't think that falls into the do not ask list.
@JCLawn51 you may have your own opinion but i dont think thats the way the atheist thing goes., isnt it just that they dont believe in a god? it seems to me that you think that they use everything for their own personal gain and to be honest i think thats a load of crap, no offense.
a few of my friends are atheists and good people at that.
i wouldnt go around putting people into your own categories because it doesnt seem fair to critisize somone you havent met or even know, everybodys different.
@iiScratches exactly, but being an atheist is interesting in the fact that it does not answer the fact of why we have morals, right? If you were Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, and etc.... I could find out your morals and why you have them. So its at least interesting to think about. Also is there absolute truth? Most of the population say there is no such thing as absolute truth, but that in its self is an absolute truth, right?
What kind of question is that? Because morals are based off of the majority's innate sense of right and wrong. Even if religion was never invented, the majority of people on the globe would still condemn murder.
Me personally? Because I know what the right thing to do is and there's not much reason in doing the opposite.
@JasonRedfield ok, so where did the sense of right and wrong come from? Why do only humans have it? You don't see dogs condemning each other for killing another dog. right?
Because humans have the intelligence capable of forming society, something which only a few other species are truly capable of replicating. Murder of key members of that society is detrimental to that group's well-being as a whole, thus it is seen as wrong. There are exceptions of course, but I'm generalizing.
@JasonRedfield I don't see any other species even thinking about this problem issue lol Ah, so relative morals(exceptions). You can get arrested for beating an animal in front of an abortion clinic, but the abortion clinic can snuff out the lives humans. So then where did intelligence come from? Any kind of it. Can it evolve from non intelligence. Not really a lot of though by the way. I don't spend hours think of this, but it IS important to figure out.
Important to you, maybe. And I myself said there were exceptions. As far as where intelligence comes from, well, you (hopefully) don't need me to explain that. And yes, it can apparently evolve from non-intelligence.
Personally, I'm not one for getting into convoluted existential discussions on YouTube comments.
@JasonRedfield you did hop into this one lol I am not going to shoot you down on your comments, but remember you said apparently. :) "If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning."
I'm a simple person, JC. I'm just interested in making my way through life without screwing up too badly and maybe, just maybe, leaving it a better place. I'll leave the existentialist discussions like this to smarter men and women than I.
People need to chill out...Flyleaf is NOT a Christian band, although I don't know why it would matter if they were--They would be awesome anyways. Lacey has said numerous time that Flyleaf is not a Christian band, even though she and other band members are Christian. Get your facts straight; they are even listed in iTunes as rock and metal.
@TheTriggerHappy Yes, this is true. Flyleaf doesn't consider themselves to be a Christian band. They don't want to be the band that your mom makes you listen to just because they call themselves Christian. But, they write what they feel or whatever else inspires them and because of their faith in God, they write about God because God inspires them. And you're right, they're awesome either way :D
would you all just leave tylermane77 the fuck alone? Seriously. I get what he's saying, y'all don't because you've been clouded. you guys can't read a single freaking post from an objective point of view, can you? you give christians a bad name. Damn. I'm not atheist, but I still see exactly what he's talking about. I can't stand all that "repent or go to hell!" bullshit either, and THAT'S what he was calling bullshit. Not your god. take the time to ACTUALLY fucking read it.
@lastblakrose I didn't go searching for tylermane77's comment or anything and I didn't reading, but from this comment I'd say that he was being BULLIED. Let's all be respectful toward other's opinions and try to act like civilized people.
I have a question though: Why is this video 5 and a half minutes long when the song is only 3? I've been sitting here listening to silence...
I really like the melodies and lacey's voice. Honestly, I don't care what religion she is but i wouldnt mind if the songs were a little less about god...
well.. i like this song :) don't get into an argument about this, what has the world come to? fighting over Youtube? calm it :) x thank you for putting up the album kicani x
Ok, seriously? Why is religion important? I mean I agree with @tylermane77 EXCEPT when he was like "I'm an atheist to the core" Its just a song, one band, and a way for you to take that how ever you want to. SO GO DO THAT! Stop going "Oh, this band is better/not better than flyleaf" and "Im Christian, well I'm Atheist, well I'm Muslim, WELL I'M ASAIN!" Haha (sorry if that last word offended anyone :) but just listen to the song, and if u dont like it... oh well :)
yeah.. I'd kinda rather listen to Flyleaf rather than a mainstream punk band with a redhead lead singer. Sorry Paramore.. you have good songs too but your band personality doesn't have that flare Flyleaf has.
I don't even know why Hayley Williams is being compared.. Paramore is an okay band but honestly, Hayley Williams is kind of.. terrible, live in concert.
@icepick00000 Coming from you that means nothing, get a life loser i'm done replying. And please someone wash this guys mouth out with soup or give him a dictionary so he doesn't have to resort to swearing when someone challenges his intelligence or lack thereof.
@GrimmRebellion u just wasting your fucking time writing this stupid shit i didn't even read the shit. u sound like u need a ass whooping fuck nigga. FUCK OFF MY DICK
for thoes of you who dont know what this song is about, its about hell. its about how you will beg for something to drink if you go to hell. it telling you how to avoid hell (beleiving in jesus christ) and its warning you to not bring anyone to hell.
@niah146 I totally agree. I mean, I can sometimes go omg Jesus Christ your not helping... and I don't believe in him for awhile and then im like THANK YOU LORD BABY JESUS! and I believe :D
@niah146 That's the only thing I don't like about this song. I relate it to simply being "thirsty" for God's love in a needed moment that of course wouldn't compare to hell.
@niah146 I'm not christian but I believe In jesus. How can we not believe he existed ? Its like saying Mozart never existed when we have proofs of it I just dont understand people thinking he did not existed XD I dont understand how we can believe in hell exactly as it is told when its obvious that its a way to say a good message, just like this song is a metaphor. I'm not telling anyone what to believe, just my point of view that with the time changes and is hard to explain on youtube : )
Mozart existed. We have records to say that he did. You've got a faulty comparision. Theres no rock hard proof my Saviour existed (and I'm talking of proof outside the Bible). Hell exists. Why else would EVERY religion have a hell. I suppose you could use an atheistic argument, but when you look at how similar every religion is, it begs the question as to why they all thought that, no? Just a thought.
this song is amazing..flyleaf is a band that gives it their all.does it really matter if their faith is a Christian?i don't see the big deal with labeling them...their music is amazing AND THAT'S WAT SHOULD MATTER
@musicsavedmylife11 I accidentally voted down, when I meant quite the opposite. I agree with you, I'm not a fan of religion but she makes me willing to listen. She is a amazing girl.
I'm also Athiest, but i LOVE Flyleaf. I wasn't even aware they were a Christian Band until last year. Haha. Not to mention I saw them live at KROCKATHON last month. It was awesome.
@tylermane77 that is so correct one of the best ways to tell the athiest pov of thier songs as an exathist i know what you mean and christan would have scard me away and since i did not know or could tell at the time i enjoyed it so much
I'm an atheist to the core and I would never give a christian band the time of day but Flyleaf is not like any Christ band I've ever heard. Their lyrics aren't in your face, obvious or preachy. They give their songs the freedom to be interpreted the way YOU want them to. Its not just "God is awesome! Give into Gods love and you will be saved!" BS.
@tylermane77 And what are you doing? Putting your beliefs out there for everyone to see. That's all the "BS" Christian bands are doing. No one forces you to hear it. You have to choose to be angry about it. You're welcome to your beliefs, but be careful: it's difficult to call someone/some group self-righteous without sounding so yourself.
Interpretations are nothing compared to why the writers wrote it. I could have all the interpretations I like, but in the end, if their not of the artist's they are all crap.
Its the fans that make the song matter abd ultimatly the fans who decide what the song is worth and what it means and i doubt every Fly Leaf fan is a devout Christian or even a once a week (sunday only) christian. Music is beautiful because it allows for multiple interpretations by many people. all that matter's is what the song means to them, that what i think anyway.
Fans? Oh really.... nope. Its the song writers that have the only true and correct interpretation of the song. They wrote it. I never made a comment that every Flyleaf fan is a devout Christian. Music does allow for that, but does not mean that every interpretation is right. There can only be one true interpretation. Its just like saying that every interpretation of the Bible or another book is right. Sola Scriptura rears its ugly head again..
@clykdd Yes really. seeing as the song writers arent being very original they are basicly quoting from the bible. When it comes to music people interpret it in many different ways and seeing as this song is a bible passage turned into a song. The song writers have no real claim to it.
It does not matter where they "steal" it from. Literature and Music steals everything. Yes, you can interpret it. But theres nothing to say it is the right interpretation! The songwriters know the true meaning of the song. Thats the correct interpretation. You sound like a Reader-Response Literary Critic, just saying.
@clykdd All i'm saying is their "True meaning" means jack shit when you look at the bigger picture. If the fans including the non-christian ones didn't interpret this song in a way that suits them then the song its self would be meaningless and forgotten.
@tylermane77 Probably because they're not a christian band. She's said a few times in interviews the members are christian and they take a bit of influence from that sometimes but they're not a christian band in the way bands like skillet are where all they're musci is directly about their faith.
@tylermane77 Just goes to show how little you understand the lyrics this band sings. They're talking about God and Christianity in all their songs, but in a way that doesn't scare off people like you.
This song is talking about the parable about Lazarus and the Rich Man. Flyleaf has an awesome way to send out the Word of and about God and this song is one of them.
@tylermane77 You don't know the other christian bands. they're not THAT OBVIOUS or ALL IN YOUR FACE with their music, so just leave them alone and God is not BS. Although i don't have anything against athiest or athiesm. Tch and im christian saying all of this.

TheTriggerHappy 1 year ago
@TheTriggerHappy True.
MajinJadon 1 year ago

Not your god. take the time to ACTUALLY fucking read it.
lastblakrose 1 year ago
@lastblakrose I didn't go searching for tylermane77's comment or anything and I didn't reading, but from this comment I'd say that he was being BULLIED. Let's all be respectful toward other's opinions and try to act like civilized people.
I have a question though: Why is this video 5 and a half minutes long when the song is only 3? I've been sitting here listening to silence...

Sorry Paramore.. you have good songs too but your band personality doesn't have that flare Flyleaf has.

for thoes of you who dont know what this song is about, its about hell. its about how you will beg for something to drink if you go to hell. it telling you how to avoid hell (beleiving in jesus christ) and its warning you to not bring anyone to hell.

@niah146 it's about the story of Lazarus and the rich man
Rotseng12 1 year ago
@niah146 That's the only thing I don't like about this song. I relate it to simply being "thirsty" for God's love in a needed moment that of course wouldn't compare to hell.
esca8652 1 year ago
@niah146 is that why she says dont bring anyone here?
Sensitive313 1 year ago
@niah146 I'm not christian but I believe In jesus. How can we not believe he existed ? Its like saying Mozart never existed when we have proofs of it I just dont understand people thinking he did not existed XD I dont understand how we can believe in hell exactly as it is told when its obvious that its a way to say a good message, just like this song is a metaphor. I'm not telling anyone what to believe, just my point of view that with the time changes and is hard to explain on youtube : )
Kyrzak12 1 year ago
@Kyrzak12
well just cuz u think that we exist because of him, doesn't mean we do.
we have povs too.
mozart was a musician, not a person of religion.
therefore ur comparison doesn't count.
Lrawrasaur 1 year ago
@Kyrzak12

Give into Gods love and you will be saved!" BS.
tylermane77 1 year ago 23
@tylermane77 well that is true though :)
Smellslikerandomness 1 year ago
@tylermane77 And what are you doing? Putting your beliefs out there for everyone to see. That's all the "BS" Christian bands are doing. No one forces you to hear it. You have to choose to be angry about it. You're welcome to your beliefs, but be careful: it's difficult to call someone/some group self-righteous without sounding so yourself.
jgmccormick 1 year ago 8
@tylermane77
Interpretations are nothing compared to why the writers wrote it. I could have all the interpretations I like, but in the end, if their not of the artist's they are all crap.
clykdd 1 year ago
Its the fans that make the song matter abd ultimatly the fans who decide what the song is worth and what it means and i doubt every Fly Leaf fan is a devout Christian or even a once a week (sunday only) christian. Music is beautiful because it allows for multiple interpretations by many people. all that matter's is what the song means to them, that what i think anyway.
GrimmRebellion 1 year ago
@GrimmRebellion
Sola Scriptura rears its ugly head again..
clykdd 1 year ago
@clykdd Yes really. seeing as the song writers arent being very original they are basicly quoting from the bible. When it comes to music people interpret it in many different ways and seeing as this song is a bible passage turned into a song. The song writers have no real claim to it.
GrimmRebellion 1 year ago
@GrimmRebellion
It does not matter where they "steal" it from. Literature and Music steals everything. Yes, you can interpret it. But theres nothing to say it is the right interpretation! The songwriters know the true meaning of the song. Thats the correct interpretation. You sound like a Reader-Response Literary Critic, just saying.
clykdd 1 year ago
