  • Hands down one of the absolute greatest bands of all time. We need more like them.

  • i loveee ths songg

  • CONT:, Somehow I see differently, but I was told point blank and matter of fact that there are no hard feelings and that they are happy Chuck has been clean for 20 years. I am told they still have common property and meet every 3 months or so to discuss things like songs and such. I guess the songs are owned by multiple partys of 5 members and royalties are split among them. So they say. Chuck is living the good life again. Join him on his facebook page. He does pop in every so often.

  • Chuck is very approachable. I have met him and he signed my book "Three Dog Nightmare". He also has a Facebook page. I also know and it was released from Chuck himself around the first of the year is that Chuck wants to reunite 3DN to tour with the beach Boys 50th anniversary tour. Talk is Brian will be with them as well. A call went into danny and he seemed good with the idea, but have yet to learn what cory thought. From what I am told there is no argument among them.

  • Lets remember the writer..the great Hoyt Axton

  • the opening to this kills me everytime, seen these guys at great adventure amusement park in n.j. in '82

  • = ]

  • = ]

  • three dog night used to come and perform at the Tulsa State Fair ... I went just to see them and something to eat! Then they did an appearance at one of our 1,000 Indian Casino's last year 2010! Pretty good ... i wondered if they would do It's For You with only 2 of the original singers. No! but they played it as we walked out and it was the best song of the night! With the big speakers and jacked up it sounded live!

  • want ot live in the Basque

  • Great song, planing on playing it at my Funeral. Life's short

  • 6 people got rejected by women in spain

  • DID I see Three Dog Night at Dallas City Hall free concert one night?... I really dont remember They say memory is the second thing to go, I cant remember what the first thing was....YES I DID!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I never understood why this song didn't make it higher on the charts than it did. It also wasn't played much

  • Hoyt Axton from Montana wrote this song?

  • @prairiemark Yes

  • @ALRULZ1965 Hoyt Axton was from Duncan,Oklahoma

  • @prairiemark i thought he was an Okie?

  • @skydogging He and his wife spent their later years here in Montana. At that time pot was illegal but his wife used to get him some to help with some of the discomfort after he had his stroke. I think the case was dismissed because his health was so bad......just an aside....but it helped me remember that he lived here.

  • I saw that tour also

  • one of the best bands ever

  • Saw them in 1973 with opening act T. Rex! What a show.

  • Four people have never been to Spain....

  • My favorite 3 Dog Night song...a good karaoke song as well...

  • Love the brotha. That guy is pumped up.

  • love this song!!! reminds me of my pot smoking hippie days!!!

  • Great song but you used the wrong album cover. 'Never been to Spain' is from 3DN's 'Harmony' album, not 'Cyan'. Anyway, this great lost classic is hardly ever played on mainstream FM stations these days and, if one doesn't own this record or have access to YouTube uploads, (s)he would have to subscribe to a satellite or cable music service such as Sirius, XM. or Music Choice to hear this and other great lost classics on the airwaves today.

  • Hoyt Axton rocks!

  • I'm learning this song from your video so I can play it with Floyd tonight. That is if he want to, anyway. :oD

  • @calamaya48 That is so cool to know. Let me know if you get to play the song with him.

  • @tjerwin1 didn't happen tonight, but that's ok, i get to jam with him quite a bit. I guess it was someone elses' turn. :)

  • 3 people got shot in spain

  • Been stuck in my head for ages.

  • seeing chuck, cory, danny h, danny g, joe, floyd and michael had such an impact on my life. my uncle took me to see them in the cottonbowl with bw stevenson opening, rod stewart (still with faces) and then three dog night headlighting it all. it made such an impact on my life. sorry about the showing off of knowing their names, but it was all from memories. Never Been to Spain, by the way, came off the album "Harmony", not Cyan. Three dog night, thanks for the memories.

  • @Suuperman5461 I realize that I used the image cover from the LP Cyan. I used this pic because I just like the image itself of the whole group instead of centering around Chuck, Cory and Danny. Thanks for taling the time to listen.

  • meomories one hell of a song

  • One of the great songs by the GREAT Three Dog Night! I have the "Harmony" LP on CD, as well as the "Celebrate: 1965-1975" double-CD, on which you'll find this song on both of the above-mentioned titles.

"Never Been To Spain" was written by the late, GREAT Hoyt Axton!

  • Anybody interested in learning how this group got their name? I am not a big music fan, but I craved this group. I learned this from Casey Kasim (spelling) show many, many years ago. It has to do with Australia.

  • @VrgniaMailman The official commentary in Celebrate:The Three Dog Night Story, 1965-1975 states that vocalist Danny Hutton's then-girlfriend June Fairchild suggested the name after reading a magazine article about indigenous Australians, in which it was explained that on cold nights they would customarily sleep in a hole in the ground whilst embracing a dingo, a native species of wild dog. On colder nights they would sleep with two dogs and if the night was freezing, it was a "three dog night".

  • @MoonlightRaider You got it, Moonlight Raider!! Very good! A blue star for you. I live in Southwest Virginia, and nearly the entire month of December was so unusually cold here that just about every night was a "Three Dog Night."

  • @VrgniaMailman

It's about how many pooches you need to cuddle with at night due to the weather. A '3 dog night' was on the chilly side.

  • Awesome Song!!!!

  • A voice to die for.

  • One of the best bands Of the 70's

  • one day my spañiard friends, one day:), meanwhile this is the closest I git

  • every 60s-70s song has comments, that include Justin Bieber. Seriously, people, wtf? 1. Simply enjoy THIS music (which is too good to be interrupted by thoughts of Bieber or other). 2. Remember - the ones that talk about him, make him famous. peace, wonderful song

  • this song is great

  • listing to the classics just makes me hate justin bieber that much more!!!!!!

  • written by Hoyt Axton

  • I met the band at Pensacola Springfest in the 90's. It was my job to stock their trailer with food and booze. They were all great guys and invited me to have a beer with them. All except Cory. He was a prick and asked what I was doing there. I think of that everytime I hear a TDN song. lol

  • @Beau2224 Cory sounds like a lovely person lol

  • Wow this brings back memories ! I remember listening to this song when i was growing up back in the seventies. Three Dog Night, were awesome ! Why can't artists make music like this anymore ? Thanks for the upload. And great audio sound on this. I've listed this upload on my favorites Utube Link.

  • Rockin'g kid I was, I loved this song when I was somewhere around 8.

  • Captured Live At The Forum, 1971.

One of the greatest live albums, evah!

  • @pitchforkpat

    FUCKING AYE, BOYS, DIDO!!!

    THANKS,

ITS ABOOT TIME I DUSTED THIS ONE OFF:0)

  • Glad I don't have to say that anymore. If you get a chance, go!

  • @Heathermb103

I'm with you on that one. Just back from Barcelona, I can't say enough about the town… You'd need a lifetime to do Spain properly.

  • Read Chuck's book. He was totally dissed by the rest of them. And they wanted nothing to do with him until he showed them he could make it on his own. Chuck is a great man.

  • There will never be another band quite like Three Dog Night. God, I love them.

  • my mom likes this song and it is kinda cool

  • Hoyt Axton was a superb songwriter! Also love 'Joy to the World"!

  • I wish they would bury the hatchet then. Those guys shouldn't be disliking each other. They were too good of a group to be like that.

  • From what I understand Chuck feels he had some great years and times with TDN but just doesn't want to go back with them for personal reasons. He did actually e-mail me this information a while back.

  • @tjerwin1 hi tjerwin1 i am 50 now and my fav.band as a kid wasTDN could i get Chuck's e-mail add. i would be honored to him a line.thanks Fusionaire902@aol.com

  • @GoreFreeTennessee man its so hard to be in band for any amount of time..seen bands tear themselves apart over stupid shit big ego's mostly

  • Are all 3 lead singers on speaking terms? I was just curious. I think one of them isn't with the band anymore.

  • Chuck Negron isn't with them now. And no the other two aren't on speaking terms with him.

  • My first Album and a song I love

  • If I ever auditioned for American Idol, I would sing this song

  • @Jgeneraledger23 - So would I. Have to have that organ and cool drums, though!

  • Beeeeautiful. Probably my favorite TDN song.

Thanks TJ! [Oh, also 'Out In The Country']

  • Wish the local oldies stations would play this good stuff..

  • hehe thanks buddy :-))

  • Oh this is so good. I had never heard this version before. I have only known the Elvis Presley version which is awesome too as he really digs into it. Now I have to listen to their other work!

  • One of my all time favorites.

  • Three Dog Night was very underrated !!!

Man these guys were awesome and really bring me back...good stuff!

    Thanks for posting. :)

  • they were great, but I don't think they ever wrote one song. But they had a way like Elvis did. when they did a song, it became theirs.

  • Excellent song by an excellent band.

  • Rusty Young of Poco is playing pedal steel on this track.

  • He should practice a little more- he sounds kinda rusty. nyuk nyuk nyuk

  • Top Drawer!!!

  • i can't count the number of times i belted this out while driving down the highway. love, love, love this song!

  • i LOVE this song!!! did they make a music video?

  • Music that lives on forever!! You were the band who made me fall in love with the remarkable escape and trip of a song......thank you for my hours roller skating and listening to ALL OF YOUR SONGS!! When I was 8 or 9-I fell inlove w/u all at a very young age ..... ;)

  • Good song to do karaoke to. Male or female............Schreck

  • This is such a great song!!! I've always loved it. So smooth and easy flowing. Yeah, Three Dog Night was an awesome band in the 70's. I loved their music! It rocked!!!

  • @interveningangel absolutely ruled the 70s. Loved these guys !!!!!

  • What year was this? Great song...

  • I'm not exactly sure about the year, but this song was actually written by a country singer/ songwriter named Hoyt Axton. I want to say between '71 and '75. TDN covered this song and so did Waylon Jennings ans Elvis Presely.

  • I think CYAN was released in late 73 or early 74.

  • I researched this song and it was a # 15 hit in '71.

  • @stevesanbernardino 1971. The wrong album cover is shown here. "Never Been to Spain" is on their HARMONY album, not CYAN.

  • In the early to mid 70's TDN was like an assembly line of hits. They wrote few of their own songs so they didn't fall into the trap of sounding the same on all their songs. Their harmonies were so close it sometimes sounded as if they could do each others parts. I've seen them in concert twice and they still sound good even tho the band has undergone some changes.

  • God, I miss this band!! One of the many great tunes of the decade from this soulful, rockin group.

  • Beautiful song, Three Dog Night had a nice run in the 70's

  • awsome song!! I love it. Check out the Hanson cover of this song its really good. ;)

  • You must have a very good pharmacist, because you are on some heavy shit!! Go listen to some more Hanson, or Miley, or the Jonas (cover) Brothers, and leave the true classics alone!! I bet your favorite thing to do is MM-bop, and probably with your right hand...

  • Hahahaha you're funny man! you crack me up! I really love classics and I DO NOT like the jonas brothers neither Miley "sth". But I do have one obsession and that is Hanson, if you didn't like the cover just don't listen to it and everyone will be ok! it's not the end of the world :)

  • Thanks for the tune!!

  • Thank you for posting this wonderful song.

  • ...I WAS 10Y/O..I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

  • did Danny Hutton sing lead on any hit songs? and which ones.

  • born in buffalo, as liam lowandowski, not oklahoma!!

  • thank you!!! this is my favorite three dog night song .. :)

  • I am from oklahoma and this song is the shit!!

  • Powerful voice and great harmony.

Still one of my favorite songs.

  • Well, I'm from Oklahoma and love this song! Thanks for posting!

  • haha i know, i love oklahoma only when i hear this song. the don white band did this song every single show they ever did, and my dad was the drummer for about 10 years.

  • Great band and song, ty for adding :)

  • It's awesome how nearly every Three Dog Night song sounds different. I can never tell! Love it!

  • They were amazing.

  • Cory kickin' ass on vocals.
