Well my real belief is that people in general don't know how good they have it, people only tend to notice when it is taken away, just a bit more personal accountability is needed all round myself included, well the Christmas lie is over for another year, phew! here check this out
what is this chrismas thing you speak, sounds like a load of mumbo jumbo to me, I think if you wish to celebrate it how about saving up a couple of euros? just an idea... christmas...whatever, more money for beers (or the drug contained in) then you have my attention
@ivanrlynn This Christmas bonus is a small boost given to social welfare during the winter months, Welfare in this country mostly gets eaten up in bill payments as well as food and heating costs leaving little left for presents as well any other holiday expenses, The holiday bonuses had allowed these family's that are on the lower earning side of the spectrum have a little of what the rest of us have come to expect and enjoy on Christmas and the New Year celebrations
I am on welfare myself here in Ireland and grateful for the government support, however this does not prevent me from a bit of future planning for such events if I choose to do so. It is not mandatory to buy into the Christmas tradition or to spend money to celebrate the New Year.
@ivanrlynn I am very aware that not everyone buys into the Modern commercialism that Christmas has become, but you are by no means the voice of all, many people's situations are different from your own and I really doubt that you could possibly speak for all of the family's in this country who genuinely need this grant, Or do you think differently?
