Lately I have been playing this song a lot (again) My good friend a war veteran (as am I) left everything behind two months ago and went to an uncivilized part of scandinavia, where he now survives in the woods togheter with his dog. He just could not take the pressure anymore. I miss him and think of him every day. Hope that some day you find your way back J.

I love this song however I really have no idea why you put these images to it. Maybe I'm totally off base however I always associated this song with a man (or woman) who wanted to walk their own path outside the confines of "normal society" and all that entails. im sorry but this song is not about war. This song is about freedom, and escape from an all consuming society. Its a shame that this video (while of incredible production quality) is used to portray such an amazing song, and its a greater shame that fans of Eddie Vedder are arguing about a song that is so pure and simple.

@TownPiligan14 Because it isn't the real issue. Governments know that the people will support their troops, so they change the message to support our troops, whereas they could be saying something else. For example: "support our domestic politics that needed us to go to war"
"support our reelection campaign"
etc etc. There is no secret that the armed forces exist to serve political forces.
Hence, why "support our troops" is misinformation because it controls the message.

"support our reelection campaign"
etc etc. There is no secret that the armed forces exist to serve political forces.
Hence, why "support our troops" is misinformation because it controls the message.

@TownPiligan14 yea and all the people who have been drafted over the years and recent attempts to reinstate the draft, that's not freedom. however people try to justify it by saying it's to protect their freedom, protecting someone's freedom by taking away that freedom doesn't even make sense. i'm not trying to ''educate'' you, that's not my business, american people(not you)telling me what to think is against the very principle america was founded on.

FORCING you to think something isn't freedom, failing to reinstate the draft is freedom. I think you're making it too black and white, as if it's either 100% freedom/anarchy or a police state.

@TownPiligan14 and to me it is very black and white, if the war is to protect our countries from attacks like 9/11 what was the reason in the 1990's? money for bankers and arms companies. they profit from war, and did you know sadam was selling oil for euros and that is one reason they invaded, not WMD's iran also began promising to sell oil for euros and looks like they could be next, that should scare other opec nations away from doing so. do you know oil is sold only for dollars by opec?

@simyan2008 If you ever go to China or anywhere in the middle east then you'll realize a very important aspect of being a citizen in the U.S/Australia/Britain (countriest based on freedoms) and that is that while on paper it seems like hypocrisy because the government controls so much and it really isn't a country that is entirely free, but compared to every other country in the world it is about as free as it gets and thats something.

@TownPiligan14 do you know what affect it has on the strength of the american dollar if opec nations only sell oil for american dollars? it creates a huge global demand for a currency one country can print at will, it's about financial domination, and control over resources it has nothing to do with protecting the innocent.
