  • and last do it will automatically uncharge when its full??

  • does i did in first time charge (2 and half hour) affect my battery??

  • when i got my new iphone i drained it and i charge it untill its 100% but i think its just 2 and a half hour to complete 100%...i just recently read some tips saying that 16 hours to charge...is this true??

  • the iphone battery charge once in a month???

  • its it good if i change the new battery?

  • of course the applications use RAM....this wont affect battery life as the RAM has current flowing through it all the time.

RAM needs power else it doesnt store anything (hence why reboots clear RAM), having applications using up RAM doesnt use any more power....if it does it would be negligable to battery life anyway.

  • 22.06 my birthday :DDD

  • i have tip for you as well, and thats to not charge your phone unless u absolutely have to. The best way to gain battery life for long hours and years of durability is to only charge when it is pretty much dead( if you can) because when you charge a battery that is not low or dead, for instance u said u have it plugged in for long car rides, overall it decreases your battery life slowly but surely. Physics has proven this and charging a battery when it is from like 30-100% is not good for it

  • to really save battery i turn auto-brightness off and turn the brightness all the way down..you get used to the dim screen in about a day and it really saves

  • @OFFICALiPhone Nope, they both will charge the phone the same amount.

  • my problem is my standby and usage were almost the same and consumes a battery charges alot.

  • turn cellular network off if you dont need it. that is the #1 battery drain

  • my battery life drained when i updated to 4.2.1

  • @petrosbugatti Hmm thats odd....is there some app that has your GPS running all the time in the background?

  • @GeekwGlasseslive no because i dont even have 3g network its hactivated i checked everything i updated from 4.0 and as soon as i did ive noticed my battery has been draining excessively.

  • @petrosbugatti But you dont have to be on a 3G network for the GPS to be running....do you have the phone jailbroken? If your phone is not on a 3G network but you have the 3G option turned on in settings it will constantly look for a 3G network to attach too this will def drain your battery. goto Settings and make sure under network that 3G is off.

  • @GeekwGlasseslive no because i dont even have 3g network its hactivated i checked everything i updated from 4.0 and as soon as i did ive noticed my battery has been draining excessively.

  • People with iDevices running 4.1 with shitty battery life...READ THIS.

iOS4 has added 2 extra "features" which did not exist previously.

Settings > Notifications > Game Center (turn everything there off).

    Settings > Facetime > OFF

You're battery is now 80% as good as iOS3 devices.

The epic problem is that Facetime is still running in the background, leaving you with 40mb less free RAM.

    Proof:

    iPod touch 3g = 150+ free ram

    iPod touch 4g = 120 free ram

  • very good video man you really helped :)

  • thank you brother i was wondering why my bat was going down when i was not using it and it was my apps running in the back just got my iphone4 and was still exploring it thanks.

  • @madman00069 No prob...glad I could help

  • why do i have this purple arrow type thing... this has been on now for a couple of days and i have realized my battery is all gone in like 3 hours..????

  • @ringmaster012 Well when you see the arrow icon its due to your GPS being used by an app...so the reason your battery is dying so fast is it seems like there is some app that is requiring your GPS to be active all the time.

  • @GeekwGlasseslive yeah thanks i got that off but it still is draining very quickly i deleted a lot of photos and videos.. hope that will hel

  • the multitasking apps dont use extra CPU. apps go into a paused state when you leave them, theres no need to close them.

its not true multitasking where the apps conduct processes in the background, these halt and so dont use any cycles.

  • @sadsismint some apps do with the task completion api

  • @sadsismint what about RAM?

  • @sonic3243 What about RAM??

  • @GeekwGlasseslive the iPhone 3GS has 256MB RAM. the iPhone 4 has 512MB RAM. the iPod Touch 3G 32GB and 64GB have 256MB RAM. the iPod Touch 4G has 256MB RAM.

    Applications use RAM.

  • @sonic3243 yea...im aware...what is it your asking about RAM??

  • @GeekwGlasseslive the applications MUST use a little bit of RAM in the background, even if they are not fully running.

  • Hey. Good tips, didnt know about wifi thing. and something usefull for ya. "in flight" is saving battery wery good. About 30 mins.

  • this helped alot man, thanks

  • ios4 has basically made my ipod touch 2g battery in half.

  • and this is ios4.0 how about 4.0.1?

  • @ssiso8 The only changes in 4.0.1 are the way it displays the reception bars and a fix to the exchange client back end...it runs the exact same.

  • if your battery life sucks, send it in for warranty =D thats what i did, you get a new phone !

  • These are some good tits thanks !

  • @Toxer90034 There were not boobs displayed in the making of this video!! LOL but thanks I know what you meant!

  • @Toxer90034 xD tits

  • @Toxer90034 "Those are some good tits thanks !"

    ^ WTF !?

  • hi, I want to ask something very important before I up grade my iPhone 3Gs with ios. 4. Here are the questions:

    1. What do you think I should do, should I upgrade with the latest iOS 4 or stay with os. 3.13?

    2. If I upgrade my iPhone with the iOS 4, will the battery performance will last faster than os 3.13?

    3. if you have iPhone 3Gs (not iPhone 4) would you upgrade it with iOS. 4?

Thank you so much for the info.

  • @laywanming I actually do have a 3GS you will notice this video was shot using the 3GS...my finace is now using the 3GS and I have the iPhone4. Yes we are running iOS4 on the 3GS and loving it. To me... even if you have to go get a portable charger which I did not...its worth it for the new iOS4 the true ability with the new OS is well worth the upgrade. Another tip. I keep a charger in my car at all times...anytime Im in my car I plug my phone in so its fully charged ready to go when im out!

  • @GeekwGlasseslive Thank you so much for the advice and the tip...really appreciate it.... i'll update my 3GS right away.. KEEP ON GeekwGlasseslive...

  • @GeekwGlasseslive hi, i've updated my 3GS... the result is awesome... it's well worth the upgrade, just like you say... push notification works better on iOS4. and i don't notice the sluggishness after the upgrade. Otherwise I got so many improvement in every aspect, that's what I think. Anyway thanks again for your input...

  • @laywanming Glad it all worked out for ya...yea iOS4 is pretty sweet...it has some flaws but hey noone is perfect! :)

  • Thanks for the iPhone battery life tips. I didn't know about closing out multi-tasking options. I have a iPhone 4 and just checked - I had a total of 12 apps open!! I really appreciate it.

  • @savclem Your welcome!! There is a bunch of debat on the multitask window but hey....why not take caution it if ends up helping out good..!!

  • hi, i have a brand new iPhone 3gs and i updated it to ios 4. I am using all battery tips but the phone loses a percent of battery every 3 minutes while on home screen without any apps running in the background, is this normal for a new phone??

  • @shauryakalsi I would say no...you might want to take it to an apple store if one is near by. If you can show them that amount of drop they might replace it for you. :) Good Luck

  • iphone multi tasking doesnt work like you think. Little to no CPU cycles are used to run background apps. The API basically pauses the app and stores some of the data in ram (which is why the iphone 4 has a bunch of ram). I dont notice any unusual drain at all on my battery, and i NEVER close background apps (this is point of this flavor of multi tasking rather than the solution android/winmo uses)

  • Is bluetooth a huge drain only on iPhones? My Android phone told me that my one hour call (using bluetooth) and having bluetooth on for 14h only used 3% of my total battery use. I consider that pretty incredible.

  • @InvisiMan2006 Bluetooth is known to be a huge battery drain on any device that uses it including laptops! If there is a way to turn off bluetooth when your not using it I would recommend it. Sounds like there is some kind of power managment going on with your droid phone.

  • @GeekwGlasseslive

Perhaps the Android OS does have some trick to managing bluetooth power consumption. I just went 24hours off the charger and made a few calls using bluetooth, while keeping it on the rest of the day and it only accounted for 5% of my battery usage. For it's convenience, it's a very small sacrifice.

  • @InvisiMan2006 Sweet...wish i got that kind of life from my iPhone! :)

  • Thanks for the info GWG! Really helpful tips! At first, I had some problems upgrading my 3GS to iOS4, but after visiting my provider, Softbank in Tokyo, they fixed it within 15 minutes & I could enjoy all of its wonder. They claim that the iTunes Japan couldn't supply enough iOS4 data for all the iPhone users in this country. Several people couldn't upload, even after 8 hours of connection. P.s.: I kind of noticed that this new OS doesn't run as smoothly as the previous one. I wonder if I'm the

  • @torabert0japon Your welcome glad I was able to assist! Not sure why its slow...try rebooting every now and then see if that helps.

  • i did just what you said about battery life and i got just over 5 hours so its to bad not draining really fast. Thanks for the tips

  • i did just what you said about battery life and i got just over 5 hours so its to bad not draining really fast. Thanks for the tips

  • Great videos man!

I just ordered my very first iPhone 3GS, so I know nothing about them. I'd like to see if it's possible to have private photo albums so that I can keep very personal pictures away from the eyes of people who might be playing with my phone.

    Thanks a lot !

  • @robertoc7 Nope..not unless maybe you jailbreak it. Then there might be an app out there that will allow you to maybe password protect a folder but im not sure. I have only spent a short time with jailbreaking.

  • DEAR,

    THANK YOU,

IT'S WORK WITH ESPECIALLY WHEN I CLOSE THE APPLICATION.

    SAMI

    KUWAIT

  • @sandiego1970 Glad I could help

  • I've got an iTouch and when i updated it to iOS4 my battery was absolute crap. So i was reading and this guy said if you go into to settings-general-reset-reset network settings it makes it better than it was with the other update. it just sets your Wifi settings to its factory settings and now my baterry lasts ages! hopes this helps!

  • @Ozzieman622 Thanks for the additional tip! The more the merrier! :)

  • geeze.... multitasking sucks...

hope they bring an update so that u can turn it off or somethin like that

  • @adamax08 Yea Id like he ability to close an app instead of just pushing to the back.

  • hey, unlike you, the battery life of my iphone is dead faster than on 3.1

I heard and did everything you said about getting a longer battery life, and about the multitasking thing, actually apple said that when they run in the background, they are not using any CPU at all, because it sort of freezes, and doesn't keep running. let me know what you think!

    thanks for the video man

  • @guidobertisch2 Well yes and no...if the app is doing something in the background like streaming music, or alerting you of something or streaming data such as a presence aware program like chat..then yes it will absolutely use battery power those tasks all require CPU cycles that will draw electricty

  • hey thx for sharing..........

do u know a way of not putting a app into multitasking?

  • @kevinhahahayou Unfortunatly not...all apps will load under the new API as a multitasking app. Apple needs to give us the option to close an app out when going back to home instead of just shoving it to the back!

  • Comment removed

  • I wish there was a way to close out all apps at the same time. It's annoying and time consuming to sit there and hold down every app and click close.

  • @mattjsrules Yea I agree...we need a kill all apps button. Or a way to close an app instead of just going back to the home screen. Like maybe holding down the button will kill an app...well see maybe apple will hear the voice of the people! :)

  • Thanks for sharing your tips! I used some of them on my iPhone! =)

  • @mattjsrules Your welcome.....nice to see someone else trying to keep the battery alive! :)
