My God, I want to marry this man. It's so rare to have a "politician" give such an intellegent, thoughtful response. It almost makes me want to vote. Why isn't he on the ticket (either ticket).
You are a great country also because your politics know what's the best for the country itself, apart from parties. He's admitting he was wrong on the intellectual approach of the past 8 years. It's definitly the next step forward.
@ kingchaunc -I favor democrats but i don't agree with you, you can be a good role model to anyone by your actions. Political parties have nothing to do with anything. There are blacks and other minorities that are republicans. What's important is: to be good american, simple
Colin Powell really gets it, that McCain is off in some far out land. Obama is a man of intellectual ability and common sense. He is truly ready to take the Nation into the next step forward. JOe bIden is ready. John MCCain won{t even try. Palin is not even close to ready to go anywhere.
I love the fact that he actually puts forth the thought, "What if Barack Obama was a Muslim? Would it make a difference?"
The fear tactics and the subliminal hate-mongering of the McCain/Palin ticket is not the America that I know and does not jib with the moral and virtues that this country is built upon.
I think McCain blew it, whatever deal he made with Bush/Cheney/Rove back in 1999 backfired. They knew he would win back then and asked him to step aside with the promise of 2008.

I like Colin powell even though he should have been a better role model for african americans instead of a republican.

I can hear the Republican attacks already:
Why does Powell hate America?
Why doesn't Powell support the troops?
Powell is a terrorist. Powell is a Muslim. Powell is an Arab. Powell is a racist. Powell is a traitor.
